RE: Am I the only one who flies pattern with no mixes in their plane ??
ORIGINAL: Bozarth Why? Precision flying is designed around the pilot putting the airplane precisely where it needs to go - not fighting a poor design with coupling issues. What if I want to compete with a tail-less delta design? Can I use a mechanical mixer for the aileron/elevators? Can I tweak it if the mixing isn't just right? If so, can I do it via radio mixes? What if I want to fly a V-tail? Can I add a mechanical mixer? If not, every time I input elevator, the plane yaws. Am I cheating if I mix this coupling out? What if I set my plane up better than the other guy; am I cheating? Mixing out coupling issues is different than snap-roll buttons. Mixing out coupling issues is the same thing NASCAR crews do during track days. This is also different than a closed loop flight director type program. Kurt
The short answer is because it would put the emphasis back on design, build, and pilot skills. I’m not saying mixing is cheating because as the rules stand it isn’t. But it wouldn’t bother me if mixing (mechanical or electronic) were banned from COMPETITION. Do what you want for sport flying I’m talking about competition. By the way how may V-tail aircraft have you seen in pattern competition? rrragman
ORIGINAL: eddieC Lol, he can't read, either: ''Please resist the urge to curse, flame, DEGRADE...''
Really Eddie C, That’s some real chutzpah coming from you! 70X7, I agree with the advice your getting to check the center of gravity. Make sure the plane is a touch nose heavy, not neutral, not a little tail heavy. I'll bet this will take care of 90% of your problem. Once you get the plane flying "on the rails" you can start to move the cg back a little at a time to make it more responsive to control inputs. This has happened to all of us even the "Experts". Years ago North American Aviation was working on development of the Hound Dog Missile. The thing was tail heavy to the point the autopilot had to make corrections about 8 times a second, a nearly constant rate. Even with the auto pilot working that hard NAA could not get the missile to hit the target. The solution was to put about 50 lb. of led in the nose and it solved the problem. Rrragman

RE: What size of RC planes do you like?
ORIGINAL: flycatch Bottom line, do you want something that resembles it full scale counterpart and fly accordingly. Or do you want a gnat that flys like a fly.
1/2A planes fly very well if set up right. The biggest problems encountered by the .40 and up crowd when they build a small plane is the set up. A lot of guys think these things aren’t that important because it’s small. The truth is there are set up issues you may get away with in a larger model that will make the small ones almost if not completely unflyable. Improper CG, too much control throw, no aileron differential, no exponential are common problems I see in small ones that bounce all over the sky. Rrragman

Like this? ok..common prob. I just went through this on my Losi 8T rear diff... U need to make sure ur bearing r in great shape first. any wooble out of them and no matter how well u shim the diff u can strip those gears !! I went the hole 9 yard on mine..New diff case, new bearing, gear set, and shim that ring gear, it's ok if it feels a little notchy or stiff wen u spin them.they will break in... the whooble in my bearings was the real problem with it, I found out. I use to just clean bearing and reuse um..but now i check for how worn out they r too...hope that helps This was taken directly out of one of the car forums. I don’t mind an occasional spelling or punctuation error, we all do that but, for me, this is essentially unreadable. Rrragman

RE: London Olympics are fantastic!!
EddieC, I see you included another ad hominem (did I spell that right?) attack in your post. It's obvious your locked and loaded in the wits department, I'll stick with common sense. Here is my imbecilic response to your flurry of data. Point 1. The US has a big economy. More than Great Brittan’s GDP three, four, ten times more than other nation’s economies what’s your point? Is it that we spend too much or is it that there is too much cooperate greed. Government is the devils playpen when it comes to greed, waste, and inefficiency. Point 2. Again what’s you point? You just threw a couple of numbers out and made no conclusion, in other words therefore what? This escalation has occurred for a number of reasons. Lawsuits, increased cost of goods and services related to the industry, better technology, research and development, illegal immigration, government oversight, a devaluation of the us dollar just to name a few. You can’t just blame it all on cooperate greed if that was your point (again, I’m not sure as you didn’t sight a conclusion). Point3. 4+ trillion dollars in 2019? If that’s the case they have to be factoring in cost for The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obama care). This makes my point not yours. Points 4 and 5. Medical debt is just another form of debt. I’ve had substantial medical debt, and considered bankruptcy. In the end I just buckled down and paid it, my choice. I have no problem with bankruptcy being used as a tool to get a new start; it's what it’s there for. Using you logic Americans have problems with Mortgage, credit card, student loan, car loan and all other kind of debt . Should we be forced through government mandates, to collectively pay these debts too? Point 6. Refer to my response on point 2 Points 7 and 8. Executive pay is set by company ownership (private companies) or a board elected by the shareholders (publicly traded companies). It’s there decision good or bad. Are you advocating “government oversight in this area too? I would oppose that. Points 9 and 10. Personally I don’t equate profit with siphoning off. I hope the company you fly for turns a profit or you’ll be looking for a job. If you are a self employed contract pilot do you make a profit? I think Obamacare is a move in the wrong direction. More choice, more competition in the insurance sectors to drive down cost. Personal responsibility and reasonable safety net for the indigent and shot term unemployed/uninsured are my remedies. What are yours? Your pal, Darren

RE: London Olympics are fantastic!!
EddieC Nice job ticking off all the typical liberal dogma. Why are you liberals so intolerant and angry? I get it; you hate profit and capitalism. Government won’t “make sure all the wasted dollars you allege get into the hands of patients, it will waste even more. There is data out that supports my point regarding patients from Canada and Great Britain going to other countries the get health services they don’t want to wait for or can’t get at home. I’m not going to do a research project for you. If you want to know the truth, you look into it. Your right I spelled Medicaid wrong (thanks for pointing it out) and you can’t read. I said Medicaid is a program for those who can’t afford private health insurance. It’s a means tested medical program for the poor. Right? I’m no expert on health care providers around the world, are you? The fact that you sight the WHO and Wikipedia as sources tells me you haven’t really taken a balanced look at the issue. I never said anything about “providers. I was speaking about health care policy; do you understand the distinction? My point is I want no part of a government run, single payer, mandated, nationalized health care system. Rail away Darren

Ok Jimmac here we go.
ORIGINAL: jimmac do you consider yourself a christian[?]
If you mean have I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and do I realize that the only way I can have a relationship with the living God is to accept the sacrifice Jesus made for my sins on the cross, well then yes I am a Christian.
ORIGINAL: jimmac AS for our health care system is based on the principal of universal health care.
Yea I understand the premise. I meant a nationalized government run health care system. The private sector can and does do it better.
ORIGINAL: jimmac regardless of your income or background....
Your wrong here, what your system does is create a larger demand on a diminishing supply. It's why you have to wait days and weeks and months for appointments and procedures. Many patients with the means bypass your and Canada’s healthcare system and come to the states for treatment because they know the can get care now not later. Additionally we have a healthcare plan for those who cannot afford private health insurance it’s called Medicade .
ORIGINAL: jimmac I think any human regardless of their nationality wants to refuse to have universal health care for all the people in their country are no more better than the people who carry out genocide for whatever pitiful reason they do.
Think what you want. What I think is this is a stupid statement the two are in no way analogous. Darren

RE: London Olympics are fantastic!!
ORIGINAL: FalconWings it was an excellent opening and a great show.
Disagree; what I saw was a shameless endorsement for nationalized healthcare. Anyone who thinks this wasn’t an effort to effect an upcoming American election has there head in the sand. Americans don’t want it, polling data proves it. What I saw was another example of a failed liberal policy being sold as some great success. Both Great Brittan’s and Canada’s heath care systems suck and I want no part if it. Darren

RE: building rc plane.
Your wasting your time trying to add ailerons to that thing. It flys fine for what it is, a two channel rudder only airplane. In the early days of this hobby thats all there was. The problems you are having are caused by you overusing the rudder. I'm not going to go into a lenghty discussion about rudder only designs, just use short rudder inputs, dont hold the rudder in eithr direction for too long and the plane will fly fine. rrragman

RE: ParkZone PKZ4500 J-3 Cub BL RTF Electric questions
CTSmithey My input, 1. Just buy a couple of extra batteries and take them to the field with you. 2. You won't be flying at full throttle most of the time, flight times on my PZ T-28 are in the 9-13 minute range depending on how I use the throttle. 3.. Larger batteries = more weight These small planes are sensitive to every gram you add. You will have to recheck your CG and the plane won't fly as well due to the increased wing loading. Ditto for the "motor" upgrade. 4.ROG(rise off groung) take offs are a fun part of the hobby but waste a ton of energy, hand launches increase flight time. 5. Because you are just learning to fly you will crash( accept this reality). Any additional weight you put into the plane only increases the amount of kinetic energy the "airframe" must absorb when the plane crashes causing more dammage than had you not added the weight. Learn on your "stock Cubs" save the upgrades for future planes. rrragman
