RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
ORIGINAL: minimalistix yep i know for hobbycity but what about stock servo from which shop can i buy ?
Just buy any standard sized servo from your favorite hobby shop. Even the most basic one will perform as well as the stock servo. If you have your heart set on the stock servo, you can get them from www.towerhobbies.com.

Metallover, the 28-32-3400 is perfect for the Detta ST on 3s and geared 18/45 or 20/45. Too bad about Medusa... they made great motors.

RE: mini revo or hyper mini ste
I agree with most of the people here. Ofna. No competition. But.... I wouldn't get the mamba 5700kv for the hyper st. Buy a medusa 36-50-4800kv for 2s and you will be much happier. Mamba's tend to overheat too much in these trucks.

RE: Sidewinder Micro + 4S Lipo
The internal BEC of the sidewinder will be the weak link in your project. It can only handle up to 3s. If you disable it (remove the red wire in the middle from the plug) and use an external bec, the sidewinder should be able to handle 4s... but no guarantees... I've had a few toast on me at 4s and a few that are still running.

RE: Onfa Hyper Ste 1/12 Mini Brushless Truggy
agreed with everyone else. A low kv motor paired up with a quality 3s pack is the way to go. I currently use a medusa 36-50-3300 on 3s neu energy 3900mah 25C lipos. Its a very potent combination while keeping temps fairly low. A 4s set-up like snipin-willy's will be even more efficient.

If you're buying the pbs for the first time, you will need the entire kit. As for your idea of making the rear pbs.... I'm sure its possible, but not needed. The existing design does its job just fine. But hey.... its r/c. Whatever floats your boat... do it! At least it will be a fun project.

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
What's up fellas. Its been a while. Anyways, I've been driving my detta's again and recently saw that Dualsky has just released their new GTS series 1700mah 35C (60a) cont lipos. I've been using the Dualsky GT 1300mah 25C lipos for over two years now with fantastic results, so I have very high expectations for this new lipo. I know that the Flightpower 1600 is the reigning king for detta's right now, but I'm pretty positive that the new GTS series will outperform it. I've got one coming just to test out... hopefully it can live up to its claims. It will be an extremely versatile battery if it does. http://www.2dogrc.com/ecommerce/os/catalog/dualsky-1700-mah74v-lipoly-battery-cont-p-2524.html

RE: RC18T...Front end still has slop
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet.... Get a Xray M18T servo saver to replace the stock one. We've been doing it for years (along with the dp draglink), and its the best thing you can do short of buying an exotek conversion.

Parkzone micro servo trouble
I have a parkzone micro citabria and love it. The problem is I just stripped one of the push servos in the brick. Is there anyway to replace just the stripped servo or will I be forced to buy an entire brick replacement. Does anyone know if a blade mcx servo would fit on the board. Those are the only push servo's I see being sold individually.

RE: 1/16 E-savage?
ORIGINAL: 04DarkShadowGT How is it a waste? You could sell it and recoup the cost difference. People already have the e-revo VXL pre ordered for $239, me being one of them. That is a smokin deal for a rtr brushless mini capable of 30+ out of the box and 50+ with a simple battery change. But even if you dont like the vxl system, sell it for $75 - $100 and then you have a roller for $150 or less. Not too shabby.
Allow me to elaborate.... I never said I was going to throw away the motor and esc... I just said I wasn't going to use it in the e-revo since I have something better already. My whole point was that I'm LAZY. Selling all that crap takes time and energy.... I would much rather spend said time and energy on something else. That's why a kit version would be much better to buy.

RE: Ball diff questions
If your detta is rwd only, you need to tighten the front ball diff more. Tighten it all the way (with gentle pressure) then back 1/4 turn. This should keep the diff tight enough without damaging the diff balls. If your diffs do not feel smooth, you need to take them out, clean them up and check to see if all the balls are smooth and damage free. Sometimes people overtighten their diff and crack some of the balls. Other times dirt gets in there and they just need a cleaning. Re-lube and re-assemble.

RE: mini lst 2 dual brushless moter conversion
Go-zilla is right. You can't use two motors of different kv values. They will be fighting each other constantly and one (or both) will eventually burn out. I used to have a dual brushless M18T BG4 back in the day. It used two mamba 6800 motors and it worked ok for a while. The motors would get super hot after every run, so I only used it for drag racing in short bursts. Low end performance was significantly increased, but there was little difference in top speed (which is logical since you are still limited by your motor's kv rating). If you do decide to take up this project, just keep in mind that your truck will look super cool, but won't really perform that much better for the amount of money you are about to drop into it. You would be better served by sticking with one larger BL motor like a Medusa or Neu. On a side note, If I were you, I wouldn't even try it on a mlst. A powerful bl motor will destroy your mlst's gears in under 30 seconds. Even if you have the steel diffs. Mlst's just weren't engineered well, so they can't take too much power.

RE: 1/16 E-savage?
ORIGINAL: Go-Zilla Minizilla is a 1/18, not 1/16 thou. Plus it's not BL RTR.
Although its a 1/18th truck, the mini-zilla is still much larger than most other 1/18ths around. As for it not being BL rtr..... who cares! This hobby is all about tinkering. Its part of the fun. I would rather buy a kit over a rtr anyday. Anyways, I as soon as I get my mini e-revo, the traxxas bl system will get tossed out immediately and replaced by a mamba/medusa set-up. So the traxxas bl is just a waste of money imo.

RE: Associated RC18T vs. XTM Rage
go with the rc18t. I used to own a xtm rage (I actually did a big review on it here), and I didn't like it too much. I agree with what calvino said, No gear cover, crappy knuckles, and hop ups are way too expensive for such a cheap truck.

RE: Anyone seen one of these yet??
ORIGINAL: hookemut Greetings, My blasted curiosity overcame what good sense I can sometimes muster-I bought one of these! It is a very clever concpt of flight/control totally made useless by it's use of IR for control!! IR requires that you keep your transmitter pointed at the AJJ (Alien Jump Jet) at all times when flying-something that we have never required before . Result: abrupt crashes when the control line-of-sight is lost! This concept with a Bind-N-Fly 2.4GHz control would be the Bees Knees!! As it is, mine will be thrown out-useless costly junk. hookemut
Yup.... I'm right with you on this one.

RE: Anyone seen one of these yet??
I got one of these a few months ago.... it flies great, and decently fast. My only problem is the IR control. I would look into the 2.4ghz walkera ufo8 for a better alternative.

RE: MCX vs. helimax Novus CX
ORIGINAL: Sturmgewehr Have you flown it outdoors at all?
I've flown both outdoors... or at least have tried too.... The novus cx will be better for outdoor flight, but not by much. Any slight gust of wind and say bye bye to your heli. [:D] On a perfectly calm day, you can fly like normal. If there is a slight breeze, then you'll be fighting just to say in a hover. If its windy, I turn around and go back inside to fly.

RE: Blade mcx aluminum swashplate
Ok, so I ended up getting one. The alloy swash does make a difference in flight characteristics. First, its obviously heavier than the plastic swash, so the heli is a bit more touchy vs stock. The added weight makes it fly faster, but makes ascending and descending a little tougher. One thing I really like about it is the fact that I can now adjust the servo links without fear of ripping off the balls of the swash plate. Overall, if you are ok with the adding a little weight to your mcx, its a great upgrade.

RE: http://www.rcrivesud.com/ CX upgrade parts
I am. They are nice upgrades. I have all 3 steps on my CX3, and they improve the performance greatly. My only reservation is that a co-axial heli like the CX can only do so much before you hit a performance wall.... If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't buy the updgrades.... not because they don't work (they do)... but because I'd rather have spent that money towards a FP or CP heli instead.
