RE: Magic Hand 73
EX is coming out with a 78" Extra which should be here around Christmas. There are 2 versions & one of them is designed purposely for electric. I believe there will be a 78" Yak configured the same way as well. I agree there are no comparison to the E.F. products!!!!

RE: Magic Hand 73' Yak
Hi Chris, Is going to 10s an option? A little more weight with the 5s packs so you can substitute power for the lead. I did one of these planes but on 6s. I had to do 2 6s 5000's in P. to keep from adding dead weight. With my set up definitely not enough power due to the weight for 3d but was pretty good for precision flying & on 10K mah - me fly long time!

RE: Peakmodel Extra 260 25%
Hi Guys, I been thumbing through this thread reading good things. Thinking of purchasing one of the 260s to convert to electric. Does anyone have a weight of theirs without the engine & fuel tank or know what it is to deduct from the overall they have? My power set up (mtr, mount, esc & battery) should come in about 45 oz & I'm looking to stay at or below 9 1/2 lbs. Radio gear will pretty much be the standard so weights minus fuel tank & engine, ign etc would be greatly appreciated. From what I've read so far depending on engine choice I should be pretty close. TIA Steve

RE: Magic Hand 73" yak build thread
Mainflyer, I noticed your cg at 152 mm (right at 6 in.) I have mine ready to maiden but my cg is coming out about 1/2" aft of yours. Do you think it can handle a 1/2" more with the way yours flys? Ive came in at 11.5 lbs like most but I'm going electric (weight is with battery) so if at all possible I dont want to weight it down any more than necessary. T.I.A. for any input! Steve

RE: DX7 vs. Futaba FAST system
Cant say about the Futaba because I havent got to play with one yet. I'm a Futaba man but I invested in a DX6 & put all the goodies from it into a 6102 to make it a 610Spektrum as I call it & was so impressed I bought the DX7. I have to say I'm very impressed with the Spektrum (JR) brand stuff.

Event Attendance
I'm still fairly new to helis - 6 months or so- & I Love attending events & watching the Big Dogs & the good 3D'ers but just dont feel comfortably flying at them. I can only do some mild acro & hope to get better but??? How many of you are in the same boat & how would your participation level be if you could go to an event centered around a milder style of flying, sport & basic stuff & save the hot dog 3D for demos ever couple of hours or so and maybe get the factory reps to spend a little more time showing how to do what they do instead of showing us what they can do. Alot of the events I attend I see 10% flying & 90% watching - could this be it???

RE: V-Blades or Radix??
I've been around both & from what little I gathered the V's seem to be very "aggressive" as in using a little less pitch to get off the ground and seem to pull a little harder on packs when used on electrics. The Radix were pretty aggressive as well but seemed to be easer on the electrics. I have V's on my M.A. Fury & love them!

RE: Hobby-Lobby's Revo CP Heli
I have 2 Trexes (XL & SE) & while they are good little machines to get the better bang for the buck check out the Swift from Century. There newest version has "weeded" out all the earler problems ( just like trexes had when they first came out) and crashes are CHEAP! You can get a decient combo from Century for around $525 http://www.centuryheli.com/products/helikits/swift/combo_details/combo1bn.htm?currentid=333 that includes the kit, motor, speed control & a 4 cell LiPo. The Trex SE kits with motor & speed control are down to around $450 but when you add such as a 4 cell pack it puts you over what the Swift costs and the Swift uses more affordable standard servos. Check out the price of replacement parts as well. I think I could crash this twice for what my last SE crash cost me! Another plus is this machine is closer to a 30 size machine and bigger flies better! Dont get me wrong I like the Revo & love the Trex but I'm selling the SE to get one of the Swifts. I'll keep the Xl Trex & the Revo around to play with out in the yard but its looking like the Swift is the way to go for me. Just food for thought to ponder on, Steve
ORIGINAL: dale.jones I got one of the $49 ones way back when and have decided to start putting it together. How are everyones holding up? Also, looking to stock up on spare parts... What are the common things to get for this heli? Thanks, Dale
Pretty Stable little heli. In spares I would stock up on tail gears. Keep the tail blades kinda loose because one touch on the grass seems to strip the gears. Theres a belt up grade but I cant seem to ever get one.

RE: Adjusting Blade CP to use Futaba 9C
John, I'm using the CAP (airplane version) but my Normal, Idle up 1 & 2 is on switch G & Idle 3 is on H. I think were only concerned with Idle 1 here. This may be different if you have the heli version, I'm not sure. If you've flipped all of them with no luck go to your throttle curve in the Advanced menu. On the second line from the top of the screen it should look as so NORM (NORM). Highlight the NORM using the up/down keys then with the thumbwheel rotate till IDL 1 comes up. Under that MIX> will appear and beside that one of the following - INH OFF or ON. If INH is there push the down arrow until the INH is highlighted. Rotate thumb wheel and either OFF or ON will appear depending on the position of the switch. Once you have the OFF or ON you have the Idle up function activated. Note that there are 3 Idle up's so make sure when you do the programing that everything is on the same Idle up in pitch & throttle curves & that the proper idle up is activated. In other words if everything is programed in IDL1 & you activate IDL2 that has no programming in it OUCH if you flip to Idle2! While your still on that screen flip the switches till you see which one turns it on & off which will be evident by watching where the INH OFF & ON was located on the screen which should now only be OFF or ON. Also when the mix is on the red power light should flash indicating there is a mix on. I hope I havent confused you since your new to Computer. Tx's & Good Luck Steve

RE: Head Dampening on CP
I believe your wrong there![8|] Per Horizons Web site: Use these between the o-ring and step washers on each side of the center hub to stiffen the dampening of the rotor blades. Stiffer dampening usually results in quicker cyclic response and less stability. And thats always the way I heard it, soft dampening = sluggish response (what mine has) hard dampening quicker response (what I want!)

RE: Taxes -- are there enough?
ORIGINAL: AQ500 The rich (depends on the definition) already pay a good majority of the income tax burden even though they are a minority of payers. When I hear people say that the tax system favores the rich (some say $56,000 and up is rich), I look at the numbers and try to make sense of what they are saying. I look at charts of income levels, percent tax payed, and percent of the income tax burden I just can't see it. I'm not sure about the filthy rich. The only fair way to tax is a flat tax. But that is wishful thinking. What would all of the americans that are living beyond there means do if a flat tax came to town? Yeah, too political.
Hey guys we allready have a flat tax (Social Security) & look what kind of shape its in! So thats not going to work either. The only other option I could think of is a National sales tax & politicans that would stick to the budget it would create. If the economy is doing good & the people were prosperous spending money the the gov. would have money if were suffering then the gov. is to. That would give the gov a good reason to NOT do stupid stuff like NAFTA. The best person for managing the budget would be a farmer. He knows how to manage his money or he goes under! But lets face it. The taxes are not going to get any better until "We The People" do something about it. Not until we have another Boston Tea party, only on a much bigger scale is anything going to happen but then again none of us griping about it are willing to sacrafice & give up what we have to do what it takes to put a stop to it so I guess until then we may as well grin & bear it. Taxes EAT ME UP & I hate to even git started on it. Wonder if I can clame my family as a Non-Profit Orginization!

RE: i would like to fly heli...
Glad your happy with it jupiter. Good luck with learning & remember the sim dosent have the pucker factor so every flight you make on it treat it as it were real. Also just for fun keep track of how much money you broke during a flying session!! Thats where the value of the sim becomes reality!

RE: If I've got $125-$175 max
Hey Guys I've been into helis now for about 2 months & due to the matter of the subject I'll give you my run down. Mind you I allready have a Sim so I wont throw that in here. Started out w/ a Blade CX just looking for something to play w/ around the house - took it back after 5 min because it was to easy. Got the CP spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $75 in spares learning (blades $15 a set!). Got a Revo CP eHeli from Hobby Lobby up & flying. Got a Century Hawk Pro up & flying. Have a Trex on the way. Cubmaster I started out just looking for something cheap & simple to fly around the house when I wasnt flying planks but the "bug" got me. So careful & put the bug repellent on thick! Also even though I got everything down pat on the sim before even taking the CP out of the box - till you get comfortable your gonna break stuff so $175 aint gonna go far[&o] Oh forgot to mention that I'm on the second CP - crashed the first & after figuring up the parts ($84) it was almost as cheap to go ahead & get the ARF ($89) & not fool with trying to put it all back together. Just swap the electronics. No matter the objective if you fly helis your gonna spend $$$$$
