RE: Top Flite GS P-47 sports scale; diary of a build
T/B I am still watchig/learning and things are looking good. I realy like the rail set up, but have a question how much wabble/swist do you have in that door ? mine give me fitss at half throtle on down wind just as the gear gets down, seams there is a lot of turbulance from the wheel well Cheers Bob T

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
In looking at the spec's on the DA-60 it may have a bit more grunt than a G-62, I have no first hand knolage on the DA but we have some in our club on 3D birds and they seam to be vary good. As far as the CID from what I have read it is not a problem just use a hi m/a battery All I can tell you is my bird with a std. 62 flies great its the guy on the sticks that has the problems [:D] So if the $$$ are a problem go with a 62. Just one added note if you are building a kit build it as lite as possable under 29 lbs and you will be a happy camper Cheers Bob T

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Hi Larry Seeing as I seam to be the old Geeeezer on this thread, I'll try to ansure you. First if you go to the vary first post you will find an index That can help you find information, but is not up to date, But still vary usefull as I still us it. 1 Depending on your building skills you can build it by the book, and yes the wings come off as one piece. They can be made to have removeable panals from just out board of the gear box rib T1, mod's to the spar etc. 2 A DLE-55 would fly if but depending on the final weight. Becouse of the short fwd moment you will end up adding a bunch of weight to the nose, possibly as much as 3 lbs. 3 to the best of my knolage the kit has not changed. 4 If you are vary carfull in assembling the ABS furnished cowl it can be used, but will require some beef up to make it last. 5 As for the retracts if you don't all ready have them I would go for the electics. I have not had any problems with the air's. Now I will add my personal recomendations Take the time to do the rudder shape mode, the wing tip's and reduce all of the weight aft of the C/G that you can, 1oz in the tail can mean 6 out of the nose. Now depending on your skill's and if you intend to add gear doors etc. plan well ahead of ware you are in your build, I would also do the scale hinge line mod's. The Brotherhood ? just go back a few posts and you will find a post that tell it all One last thing there are NO BAD QUESTIONS so if you kave one aks it, you will most likly get at least 2 good replies. and unless you are in a hurry to get it built post pic's as you go as we can mabe learn some thing new cheers Bob T AMA13377 Corsair brotherhood #5 See George I can get the # right once and a while

RE: realflite questions
Hi Opjose Well I have had no luck with the torque hint, but I did get the flaps to work like the real bird and my model, and that made things better, make landings a lot more like the my model. I have 2 degrees of right thrust in my bird and on a takeoff role I have to in put a lot of right rudder as I bring the power up in the first 30 40 ft of role this get me to about half of the speed to take off and from there all I do is let the speed build and it lifts off with just a tuch of up With the sim it is just punch the power and you ar off in 40 ft. cheers Bob T

RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!!
` Hi Fabio I am with Old Tom on the plans as they will change with age. I would also check the alignment with an incdance meeter, as I recall the horizontal center line is the same as the center of the notch in the longeron at the fuse half's, so it you set that line to a level fwd ans aft and side to side, and mark the center points of the stab airfoile, I would set the stab the same as the center line or a max of 1 deg positive incedance can't seem to find my spec's sheet but that is what I have written on my plans Hope this halps and make sence Cheers Bob T

You are so right you have to keep with the times and stay a step of the fresh grad's (as they know every thing) and they will tell you so, at least that was my experience befor I retired from the manufacturing thing . If things go right I will be retiring again for the last time in about 3 to 6 weeks based on my latest helth exams and study (the meniers thingy) Still have not had my war birds out to fly as yet, but this w/e is looking good and hope to fly both 47 and the corsair. Down the road a bit the slot may have somting to do with the upper half or the sheeting. Sorry I can't be of more help Cheers Bob T

RE: What's the proper method of a barrel roll?
You didnot have to be in the milatary to lern to do a roll as Hoss has dicribed it. When I got my privet back in the early 50's we learned ti that way in a PT-22 it was a bugger to do at frist, but once you got it it was easy. Then when I was into rc learning to use the thumbs was a bit tugh but you get over it, thke off's and flying was always the easer but landings you realy have to practice Cheers Bob T AMA13377

RE: G-38 question
Iwill add my 2 pennys worth I have a 20 year ol 38 and the best way to reinstall the flywheel is heat it in toster oven just so it is to hot to handle about 150 deg's then quickly with a hot pan glovve the place it on th shaft and torque the prop hub to about 30 ft pounds use blue loc-tight on the threads. mine has never come loose sence doing this about 15 years back Cheers and good luck Bob T

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Craig #67 Sorry to hear about your problems with the kit, I will say my frist one wwnt togather by just following the instructions and it flew great under power but with out power they are a brick. On my secound one I did a lot of modes both scale and just things I did not like, mostly to save wieght.. Having said that I am an old builder and some things just work out, I did find that you had to read the whole book and reread the sections as you went and plan three to four steps ahead of whwt you were actualy doind . I guess what I am saying I would not give up on T/F kits Just do more research befor you start By the way I have not read if you have flown your bird. Cheers Bob T

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Mike On the center section if you are planning on gear doors and such, hear are a couple of things I learned . If you are going to use the robatr gear you will need to trim the gear rail ribs so that the rail is about 3/32 deper in thw wing and you will need to trim the pin in the gear ball so it is flush with the ball when it exteds so that it clears the upper surface. Next ithe wheel well side ribs it's best to make them from lite ply to suport hinges and door operating things, also those ribs need to be realigned to give you a right angle to the upper surface. One more thing I would add some C/F mesh to the main spar ware the gear lage goes thru. Have fun with your build and build light Cheers Bob T Every onse you can shave out aft of the C/G is 2 to 6 onse's of extra nose wieght

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Hi Mike I asume you are talking about the outer panenls First do you have the manual ? if you do go to page #16 Next are the ribs attached to the top spar? if not carefully put center lines on the ribs, if they are just put points on each end. Per the manual you will be building the panals upside down. So on the inbord rib pin it so that th c/l is at equal distance from the building board, then got to the tip rib and do the same, hear is ware it get a bit sticky (you have to plan in about 2deg's of washout ) this means the trailing edge end will have to be closer to the board. with out laying it out on the plans I can't tell you how mush but if my old notes are close it will be right at 1/8, then yo put a stright edge in line with the end points and assemble the rest of the ribs to match. Keep good notes so when you do the outher half it will be the same.. I have had computer crash and lost most of my build pic's so I can't help there. Hope the above helps post pic's as you go with ?'s and I will try to give you what I know Cheers Bob T
