RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
QUick question gentlemen. Anyone know what the engine temp should be after a couple of high speed passes? My main issue last time I was at the lake was a fouled glo-plug, but I have replacements now, only need a new radio box and the video will follow along with pics of the changes you guys suggested. I figure a picture is worth a thousand words, and perhaps someone can spot something I need to do differently. Thanks, LRT

RE: Jato 2.5 Issues
Also just to note that in the 20 or so tanks I have ran through I have left the high speed needle at the factory setting. When it started dieing today I adjusted to richen it up a bit, about 1/2 turn in and then back to factory. After it started giving me problems running I shut it down and brought it to the house. I do not want to fry my motor, so I may take the car and all to the LHS and let them see if they can get it idleing good again. How do you know if a motor is fried? LRT

RE: Jato 2.5 Issues
Not a temp gun, but a temp probe that is very sensitive. It is on my multimeter and detects temp changes when the wind blows. This may not be the best thing to use after reading allot of the threads, so to Hobbytown I go tomorrow to get a lazer temp gun to check it out, as well as stocking up on new glow plugs. I was going to vpurchase 2-4 new plugs last time I was there but they were out and told me just to use some of the new ones I have put back for my boat, but the connector on the jato will not fit on top of my boat plugs. Will replace (If they have them in) and test tomorrow. LRT

RE: Jato 2.5 Issues
Even if they start with no issue the glow plugs can still be the culprit? I thought they were only for starting. After some adjusting I have the wifes running great, but mine will not idle. It will start and run for 5-8 seconds and die. This is at any throttle setting. This can still be a glow plug issue? The whole lean/rich thing has me baffled. I know what the factory preset adjustment on the high speed needle is now, it is 4 turns from full tight, abd I set it back to this adjustment, but still no idle. There was one thing that concerns me though, after about 5 jumps I noticed a piece of plastic sticking out from under the body cover, it ended up being the air filter, which I quickly put back on. Could there be something (dirt, dust) in the carb now that is blocking the flow of fuel? If so how is the best way to remove something such as this? I guess I will take it into HobbyTown tomorrow and let them take a look at it, but any additional info on setting the carb would be appreciated. LRT

Jato 2.5 Issues
Hey gang, Ran on a great dirt track today, the temp was 93 and the humidty could kill a full grown man. The cars ran great early and then after a few laps started dieing. I tried to richen them up a bit and they simply would not run. As soon as they started this I chenged filters (well oiled) and tried again, but no luck. They would run great early and then started giving me trouble. Any tips on riching/leaning the motors? I donot want to burn them up, but unlike my boats which all tell how many turns out from factory the needle setting is, the JAto does not. Any pros have time to give a newb some tips on how to rich/lean the motor and how to check it before a run to ensure I have it right? Thanks, LRT

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
mounted the S&B y535 today and still had some issue with keeping the boat in the water, but it did have more grab in the corner. The issue I am having with the stock 18 is that now when I lean it out on the dock it responds great to the control, idles and sounds great. Drop it in the water and she runs great for 10 yards and then bogs down?? Now that I am using traxxas 33% nitro I went ahead and lightly tightened the needle all the way and backed off 2.5 turns per the factory setting, then played around with it a bit and had a few good runs, but mostly bogging down and dyeing, retrieving and adjusting. The few good runs I did make were great, but the boat still wants to fly out of the water on a light chop. I have the prop shaft as close to level with the bottom of the hull as possible, would it be worth a try to angle this up a degree or two? Also, swithing from 20% to 33% is there any tricks that could help me get the motor running top again? Thanks, LRT

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
Hey gang, I am going to put on the Octura S&B y535 this weekend and test to see if the boat runs better (I am sure it will). As for the heat issue I am burning a header coupling after several hours (3-5) of running, not per tank. I am presently using an RC automotive silicone coupler from hobbytown, but still on a quest to find a heat resistant tube that will last a long time for the boat. I plan to remove the foam from the top and in its stead put smaller pieces of a cut swim noodle to keep it floating (Have already blown the top of and wont feel comfortable without flotation). I am very anxious to get the metal prop on as I am restricted at to how lean I can run due to the plastic factory prop (Which I own 4 of). I am only running 20% in the boat at present time, and running with the factory prop I have the needle valve set at 2 turns from closed on the needle. The issue is now that the motor will run for short busts like a demon, and then miss a bit, and then run great and the miss until it finally dies. I have a feeling that this is a sign that the header coupler once again has a pinhole or is burnt enough on the lower side that it is allowing air in and my air pressure to the fuel tank is being reduced. I am going to change the coupler today and test after work and will report back. LRT

t munn, I have had this problem of late. I have been replacing these after each run as the heat is overwhelming even when running extremely rich. Anyone else have this issue, or a remedy? Thanks, LRT

RE: Where to get a roll....
Ron, I am presently using "Team Associated" Exhaust tubing No.7733, and it works fine, but I would like to be able to purchase a like product by the roll. This product comes in about a 3inch segment and is over $2.00 with tax. Any ideas? Thanks, LRT

Where to get a roll....
Where is the best place to find a roll of tubing about 3/4 inches in ouside diameter to connect from the exhaust manifold to the header? I am runnnin a MissVegas and I am using RC Car silicone tubing. This works fine, but only for a short period of time. I would like to find this tubing by the foot, even if it is by design made to deteriorate I would rather have a roll of it than pay 2.99 at Hobbytown each time it needs replaced. Any suggestions?? Thx, LRT

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
Jerry/Ron, Thanks for the info! I just ordered 2 sharpened/balanced y535's and one M435/3 (to test) Hopefully this will improve my pitfalls. Now to the next issue I could use some help on. If sharpened would you stick with the factory rudder? and also any input on setting up the side blade (do not know what this is called) as I am going to sharpen it to a razors edge, but am not sure if this would be better served tilted more towards the hull or parallel as possible? When all add ons are recieved I will add a video of this boat tearing up the Tennessee River!! I am new to Nitro boats (if you cant tell by now) and the MissVegas came with very few flaws that I could spot out of the box. The front of the radio box where the screw goes in was busted so I only use the back and some absorbant paper towels inside, the starbord side rear lockdown would not latch as the glass was too thick to secure, but I sanded it down and it is working fine, and lastly the radio box power switch had been overtightened with the two small screws which has caused the plastic casing to crack, but I think I can purchase and replace with a like switch. My question is, what is the ETA on replacement parts for this boat? I would love to replace the entire control box and switch ASAP. Thanks for your help. LRT

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
Gentlemen, I just recently purchased the Miss Vegas and had a question as the boating club that I joined has some pretty die hard members and have instructed me to purchase a metal prop for the stock Miss Vegas. I do not intend to upgrade from the 18 to the 21 any time soon, but I am runnning this boat almost daily. The issue I have with the stock prop is not only bad cavitation in corners, but also the front end wants to take off from the water like a RC plane. They have mentioned that before a race (Mainlky Southeast IMPBA) they order all new props from someone in the business in California that shapes, and polishes props. My issue is that I did not get the information from them as to where to order these from online. Any input or suggestions where I might order a good prop for the 18 shaped, and polished that doesnt take forever? I am dieing to see what this boat will do as it wants to fly with the stock prop. If so please respond on this post or email me at rtayloria@yahoo with the person or company and which prop to order, any help at this point would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Rtaylor

Miss Vegas setup help...
Miss Vegas Hi all, I purchased a Miss Vegas in UT Orange (of course, I’m a VOL) and ran the 6 tanks through the motor and during this time had some really great runs. During this time I also had some pretty sluggish runs and did not touch the needle at all between filling the tank. Any setup specifics for a stock boat would be a great help, and perhaps a word or two to help a newbie nitro boater. I have seen many posts about the Miss Vegas here and even though I am a newb, I can tell you one thing for sure, she’s FAST and fun for an X-electric boater. X-electric as of today and my Sunstar Kyosho will be donated to my wife for any electric events that she might want to join n on. Any help would be greatly appreciated… RT
