RE: Trex 450 Pics Please
[X(] 550$ for a V2? hehehe no way man, save yourself some $$$ there are many trusted stores out there with even better service than horizon. E-mail Joe at techmodelproducts.com, he has great service, he has the V2 on sale for 400$, that's 150$$ you're saving, and that's only on the kit. That's were I got all of my stuff, kit, servos, gyro, charger everything and I got the radio for 300 at modefosheli.com which also has great service. Almost everything is cheaper with these guys. I ended up saving a lot (so I could have more later for repairs[:D]) I got the same setup as you but with a 9650 tail servo (which I recommend) extra batteries (outrage), charger, tools, receiver, and everyting else you need for less than what you're paying for only the basics. (1200$) Hope I saved you some$ Cheers[:D]

RE: Our new Trex 500 cyclic response is very slow compared to our Trex 450!
mmm... the 450 had +-6º for elevator and aileron cyclic and +-11º pitch. Check your radio programming, maybe your swash mix in too low.

RE: Mid stick Idle UP throttle and mid stick normal mode throttle...
well I can give you my setup exactly (trex se v2 3700Kv motor 35X ESC / dx7) throttle curves etc. but mine in setup so that I'm hovering at a little over mid stick, and whn I flip the switch to idle up 1 the motor increases speed but the heli stays is the same spot vertically, and idle up 2 the heli slowly starts ascending. Now the trick is to get all your pitch curves linear, except for N mode because you won't be using negative here. So when you are in idle up you get exactly the same pitch at both ends of the stick and in a linear fashion, In normal mode you don't need a linear curve, and I prefer a more "curved" curve since it will give you a very passive collective response (for landing and hovering in close quarters, like the living room[:-]) You don't want your normal curve to be linear because it will make it a little fastidious to land properly since its too sensitive. The thing is you have to match pitch and throttle in N mode with idle up so when the heli is HOVERING it doesn't jump when you flip the switch. After a lot of trial and error this is what I was left with: Throttle curves: Normal: 0-50-75-83-100 Idle 1: 95-87-85-87-100 idle 2: 100-92-100 Pitch curves norm: 45-50-60-76-100 idle1 & 2 linear (0-25-50-75-100) This works with my setup but it all depends on yours, The idea is to play with your curves until you get it right. But alway star ot be low in norm and higher on idle up so in any case the heli could go up(which is better) instead of dropping to the ground. hope this helps cheers[:D]

RE: Blade rotation at idle
I've seen them do it and I've seen them don't, what can I saw?[:D] If you need to to sort of an effort to hold the blades still then its probably best if you loosen the clutch a bit since it'll be very unpleasant trying to carry the heli while at idle to the helipad when its trying to spin, but if your fine with that it shouldn't be a problem.

RE: Best Package Deal for 450SE V2??? I Have Nothing.
ORIGINAL: pawraith just a thought, depending on what radio you're wanting, it may already come with the cyclic servos. i know that you cannot buy a DX7 tx by itsself, you have to choose whether you want full size servos or the 6g DS285's. Futaba may offer a tx without servos, but i am not sure.
actually I think you can get the dx7 by itself. When I was buying my v2 I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a dx7 by itself on modefo's for 200 or so$ but I'll have to check.

RE: Main drive gear/One way bearing - help...
the one way bearing could have been damaged during the crash. I don't think the O-W-B could have caused that, sound like you have either a faulty gyro, belt or something else with your tail drive system, because a bad OWB would not cause such behavior, you would feel a loss of power and the heli would loose altitude, not spin out of control. Check: Belt tension gyro and servo (check servo gears) linkage to the tail tail pulleys anything else related to the tail

you've just been baptized hehehe[:D] sorry to hear you crashed. RE: trex 450 tail wag
reduce the gain. other than that your belt could be loose causing it to skip, or your tail servo might have a broken gear or there is play in the linkages.

RE: Problem with the tail on my Trex 500 after installing TT drive!
Your gears shouldn't be worn out, what I meant is that they might be too "far apart" and this might cause skipping, just like if your belt were loose, it would skip right? make sure your boom is properly placed, (distance) so that the TT reaches both ends as it should. Check it out at tell us how it goes.[;)]

RE: Problem with the tail on my Trex 500 after installing TT drive!
did you try decreasing the gain just in case? if you did and that didn't help then its probably skipping somewhere, check the gear mesh to see if its ok, hold the tail blades and try to spin the head (so that you create a slight load on the tail drive gears) keep doing that while letting the tail rotate a little until you get a full revolution of the head. if in any segment of the revolution the a gear skips, you got your solution[:D]. Another thing is that it can be hitting something and that's where the howl is coming from. hope this helps!

RE: Mechanical settup problem with ve tail
I have the same setup as you but with a DX7, if the tail is wandering in HH mode then your gain is too low, increase your gain about 5% at a time until the tail starts to wag when you hover, once you achieve this remove 3-5% gain and you're dane. Even if you resolve this I would recommend you watch all of finless bob's vids because they are an excellent way to learn to setup your heli correctly since there are some things that words can not explain as good as images[:D] Cheers Rene

RE: trex 450 se I need help with a few problems
Hey don't get all mad! all he's trying to do is help you out. I can understand why he got that idea, you see when you say:
other than that all vibrations are uncommon.
it can be inferred that you're saying that all vibrations (aside from the engine) shouldn't exist. So in other words an electric heli shouldn't vibrate. And he's TRYING to explain why this might not be true, that's all. Instead of getting all worked up every time someone gives you advice or information, try to hear everybody's opinion and advice because it might solve your problem. And we're not EXPERTS but many of us encounter the same problems and when we figure out the way to resolve them we let the rest know, that's why this forum exists. So if you think our advice useless then go ahead and read your books where "experts" speak the word of wisdom and tell you what to do, and don't waste your time posting or our time responding to someone who doesn't really care what we have to say. I really hope you resolve your issue the way you want to.

RE: Best Package Deal for 450SE V2??? I Have Nothing.
I wouldn't buy something from helihobby since they have some pretty bad reviews. I would recommend buying it from techmodelproducts since they have great service and cheap prices, I got mine for 400$ (the v2 kit with carbon blades) plus all the rest except for the radio which I bought from modefosheli, which has great service and discounts too.

RE: 450SE V2 blade grip play. new bearings?
ORIGINAL: MustMod I put the washer/shim inside the grips, i am at work so cant remember exactly where I put it but from memory it was the last thing I put inside the grip beofre the thrust bearing. A friend who had the same issue used the brass shims that come in the pack with the version 2 dampners and that worked well also. If I remeber when I get home I will check where I put them and post that later.
well the way they go in is like that, bearing, washer, thrust bearing, and small washer with screw. So you must have put it behind the bearing, or put two after the bearing My links are tight and have no play so I has to be coming from the bearings, I will try to do a slight mod to the spindle to see what happens (like the one finless made on the tail hub because of the same issue)

RE: 3d with a 450?
-remove the flybar weights -put on the 13t pinion -raise your throttle curve, 100 90 100 -check your dampeners and look for play in the grips. if you can, replace the stock dampeners with the trueblood ones. -you should have 100% travel in everything and little to no expo If you're starting to do 3d I would recommend you start with about 5min. of flight time and check how much you drained from the lipo. If you were left with some juice then increase your flight time gradually until you drain the correct 80% of charge from the battery and no more. start with short flight time and gradually increase, not the other way around because you don't want your motor to start pulsing in the middle of a maneuver[:D] try that and tell us how it goes! Cheers!

RE: Trex 450 rudder servo
try to trade it for a 9650 very nice combo though, just as mine except for the tail servo (I use a 9650) I would suggest you change the servo gears to MG if you crash, but don't change all of them, just replace the ones that broke, usually the two larger ones (that's what I did) I've noticed the servos to be a bit more precise because the play is reduced by the MG. go figure[:D]
