which brushless system for my nephew
my nephew has a duratrax evader ext2 and he wants to upgrade to brushless. he is a pretty good driver and i think he can handle it. he saved up $60 and i found [link=http://www.hobbypartz.com/26p-blcombo-60a-13r-3000kv.html]this one[/link] for him. anybody run this system? any opinions on it? i figured the 3000kv would be better for runtime and less broken parts. maybe the next one up for more speed. what do you guys think?

i know the main thing for me with this plane right now will be practice but as my skills develop, what are some common mods that people are doing to these planes to improve speed and/or runtime? im assuming brushless and lipo. i probably wont even be able to make it through a single battery without breaking something right now lol. im just curious. thanks

dumbest thing i did was plug my turnigy 12v battery charger into a 24volt power supply. made lots of smoke but the charger still works and it has been going strong for about 2 years now lol.

some people are just jerks and cant ever be happy. when buying from someboday on ebay i take that into consideration and if i see a 99.9% feedback with thousands of transactions and only 4 negatives, they are probably just those type of people (im an assistant manager at a movie theater so i know first hand that there are a lot of those kind of people in this world)

RE: Lipo balance wire
did it pull out of the pack or just break the wire? mine broke the wire and i just bough an extension adapter off of ebay and cut the end off that i didnt need. as an added plus, i glued that extra female end onto my sc10 so when im running it, i can just plug the balancer into the female plug and it keeps it from happening again. mine was cases from the balancer plug hanging below the car while driving it.

for me, it helped that i already knew basic guitar. i took a semester of guitar in high school so i already knew basic chords, and how to read tabs. it definately takes a lot of time, especially if you are a complete beginner. lots of patience is the key

RE: New member to the scale scene
finally got around to posting a pic. i got a new spur gear for it. the front bumper mount is broken so i may try to make one of my own. i dint really like the stock plastic design. i also need to figure something out for the battery. i have lipos but that esc doesnt have the cutoff so i may run my nimh until i can get a cutoff for it. i also need to figure out how the battery is supposed to mount to the vehicle. the battery holder was taken out and it looks like there are some spacers missing that go to the battery tray assembly. im also open to any other suggestions anybody has for this beast. thaks

RE: Totally New To RC World. Just Bought Rustler ...
glad to hear you are having fun. personally, i wouldnt worry about upgrading anything on it until you break something (and you will break something, it happens to all of us). eventually a battery like [link=http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-40c-5000-3s1p-hardcase-direct.html]this[/link] one may be something of interest. if you think its fast now, you may crap yourself with this battery. it should get you in the 60mph range. traxxas advertises 70mph but thats with really high gearing.

[quote]ORIGINAL: traxxasfanatic For a camera in the $400 range I like my Nikon D3000. If you can find one that's what I would suggest. They are discontinued so you can probably get one pretty cheap. well, due to the availibility issue i may get the nikon p510. i dont think i really "need" the 42x optical zoom but it may be cool to have. plus walmart carries it and i get a 10% employee discount so after that and my graduation visa gift card itll cost me about $340. not too bad IMO. it seems like a good camera too. i payed around with the demo model in walmart. ill wait til my trip to oregon to but it because if california sales tax lol, itll save me money

will that motor be big enough? its a little bit smaller in diameter than a 380 size motor. there isnt going to be a lot of load on it so i imagine it will be okay.

Looking for an odd motor
Well it's not necessarily an rc product but I'm wondering if there is a motor in the rc world that might work. One of my other hobbies is duck hunting. One of my duck decoys is a motorized decoy with flapping wings. Well I need a new motor for it but I would like to find a cheaper one than the replacement. It is a dual shaft 6v motor. It is the standard 540 or 550 size but it has a shaft coming out of each end of the motor. For a replacement (fixed endbell, non rebuild able motor with bushings is $60. It kills me to pay that much for a motor that looks to be of the same quality as a traxxas stinger with an extra shaft lol. The battery is a 4amp hour deep cycle 6volt. I would need to be able to keep the same battery and get runtimes of at least 4 hours minimum. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas. Thanks

RE: Inspecting a used RC car buy?
i would go for it. if you find that its going to take too much money to run, you can always part it out on ebay. im sure you can get your $5 out of it if it doesnt work out. another jato owner would gladly pay more than that for a usable parts car. you sound kinda like me (always looking for a good deal). sometimes its a risk. with only $5 on the line, i would go for it. good luck [8D]
