RE: Traxxas Big Bore
The Big Bores are nice. I have some, but I like the adjustable screw type better. I got a set for about the same or less. I just prefer them over the plastic spacers.

RE: After-run Procedure Question.
The directions for my OS .18 says not to put ARO in the Carb because it can ruin the seals. I do both on my Traxxas motors tho.

RE: t-maxx 3.3 wheelies?
Let the thing get broken in before you go tearing it up! LOL! After a few more tanks, the engine will run better. If you have it tuned right and the slipper clutch isn't too loose, you will be asking for ways to stop wheelies.

Taps for my 2.5?
Taps as in sundown, goodbye! Couldn't get the wife's 2.5 SMAXX engine to run right the last couple times out, so set out today to tune it. It started OK, but when it got up to about 220 degrees, it died. It would stert after cooling down, but kept dieing. It then would start and bog down upon throttle up. So I took it out of the truck, and it seems to have very low compression. My OS .18TM is at least three times as tight. I had pretty good use from it. It never tried to run hot, and never burned plugs. I run exclusivly in the desert, which is sure to cause early termination, because of massive sand intake. Anyway, trying to remove the cooling head I stripped one of the bolt heads. Is there a fairly painless way to get it out? I doubt I will rebuild it anyway, so I don't want to spend all day removing a bolt, but I would like to see the sleeve and piston. Now, what to replace it with?

I just take the batteries out and recharge them. It's not cool, but I didn't risk ruining my radio with a soldering iron.

Duh! I actually have the blue pipe on this truck, but I was thinking of upgrading this one and putting the blue pipe on my wife's truck. I will check out the phantom! Thanks!

OS.18 pipe
This is probly a repeat question, but I did a serch and came up with nothing. I have a T-Maxx with an OS.18TM engine, and am running a stock Traxxas pipe. What would be a good pipe for this rig?

RE: Ebay engine
I buy a lot of my RC stuff on EBAY. I haven't been ripped off yet. I got a new 3.3 that didn't run very long before the conrod ruined the whole thing, but that was probly me running it too hot! I bought a New S-MAXX that was obviously on a shelf somewhere for a LONG time, as the fuel lines were as hard as my arteries are by now. But it was still brand new. If a used RC comes with a motor, that is one thing. If you pay a dollar more for a used RC with a motor than you would pay for the same truck without a motor, you are asking for trouble.

RE: tmaxx noise? plx help
I don't know about "usually" but I just had the bearing on the inside of the input shaft go bad and wreak a bit of havok. I don;t remember if this was the truck that was squeeling, but the next time one of mine does that, I will try to find the problem before it gets worse. Live and learn.

RE: Truck wont coast
A tiny bit inside, but not much. Just bad bearing, I suppose. I have ccleaned the gears up a bit, and smothed the case down where the bearing got hot and screwed it up, and I just might give it a try. I need some new bearings. I have a couple sitting on the bench, but they are used. I don't want to put a bad bearing in to replace bad bearing! Fortunatly, I have trwo more Maxxes!

RE: Truck wont coast
Well,it didn't take long to find the culpret. A bearing on the input shaft (I think its the input shaft) the shaft the spur gear assembly is on , froze up. Of course, that put "just a little stress" on some other parts. the screw pin holding the internal gear onto the shaft is bent, and the gear is ruined. This tranny really had very little time on it, I am kind of suprised it failed so fast. Well, at least I have the brakes slipper, and linkage, so the cost won't be too high. I may be able to salvage a good bearing or two out of it, but I guess the rest is junk. Thanks for all your input folks.

Thanks for the input! I tried to call LHS, but tey were too busy to answer phone when I called. I will probably just get one from them. I went to the hardware store tonight, and could only find rubber hose, not silicon.

Pipe gasket
My OS.18 TMAXX split the plastic or rubber gasket that goes between the pipe and the header. What kind of stuff can you use to replace it? I would rather stop at the hardware store on the way home than drive 10 miles out of my way to the LHS. We took two trucks out yesterday, and one broke a rod end of all things, and I only had a dozen spares at home, and the bad boy landed on it top and the gasket broke and the failsafe came apart! I have never had a good day stopped by less ominous circumstances. It was almost dark anyway!

RE: Truck wont coast
With the engine turned off, it can be pushed either forward or backwards, depending on the position of the shifting rod. If you push it the oposite way, it immediatly locks up HARD. No slack, tire dragging locked up. I think it is in the tranny. I have not had to go into a trans yet. This one is the gray two speed with reverse. Its the wife's truck and doesnt have that much time on it, but I guess something must have slipped inside.

RE: Truck wont coast
Well, I took it apart, the diff is solid as a rock, working perfectly. I put it all bact together, and fired it up. It was ok after a new glow plug, but onlr ran a minute when it lost power to the wheels, revved up high and died. Now ir rolls fine frontwards, but locks up immediatly backwards. If I switch it into reverse, it will roll backwards, but lock up if I try to push it forwards. I am no pro, but it seems like the tranny is busted. Any advice?

RE: Truck wont coast
The shift rod is OK. The brake seemed a bit tight, but I don't think that was it. I have the tranny out now, but I had to go to work before I could get much done. I think I will go by the LHS and pick up some new shock towers and body posts and take out the diff. I still have the round posts on this truck and they are bent. I took the top off the engine, and it doesn't look trashed, but the compression seems a bit low. The top of the piston is fairly black, but doesn't look tortured. I think I may call it a work day early and go home.

Truck wont coast
My 2.5 SMAX with the gray 3.3 tranny will not roll without engaging the tranny. Frontwards or backwards it's the same. I think it caused the engine to overheat, and may have burned it up. I had all three of my Maxxes running at once for a few minutes and the diff blew on one and the engine overheated real bad on this one. When others are driving your stuff, they don't know when things are going bad! What do you guys think? Is it a tranny issue? I took the engine out, and it still won't roll either way.
