RE: Simulation instread of trainer?
Hi there Osirisf16, I can respond you the question because I was just in your case. I started buying the Real Flight G4. I flew for 2 months, doing landings, takeoffs, stalls, etc. After 2 months I thought I was ready because I could dominate every plane in the simulator (even the F39). I brought a trainer from Miami. It was the Hangar 9 Alpha 40 RTF. It is a great trainer for begginers like you and me. I started flying for the first time with an instructor and I did pretty good; no errors. He landed the plane. The following weekend we met again and started flying. He was astonished because of the way I was flying. He showed me some exercises in the air which I did without a problem and he finally told me "Land the plane". I was pretty nervous but I did it. That same day I landed the plane for about 4 times without a problem. Everyone gave me a beer shower. I took 2 weekends to land the plane. From that moment on I started flying all by myself. No problems with my Alpha 40 yet. My first landing was about 1 month ago. This is all thanks to the practice and the experience I gained in my Rela Flight G4. It is a pedagogical instrument for begginers. It is the right way to start without spending hundreds of dollars in crashed planes. I recomend it to everyone that´s going to get started. I suggest you start with a good trainer, not a low-mid wing plane because they are much more unstable and faster. Trainers, as the name says, are to train. It is a neccessay step that you should go through. Don´t subestimate how easy a plane can crash and it costs you a lot of money. In the simulator you don´t get scared but in the first real flying it is pretty scary, even if you have a great dominium with the simulator. Believe me, ist´s not a joke. I´ve experienced all that I just wrote here. I hope this could help. Bye Osirisf16.

RE: Got Wind?
Hi there, I agree with Bigedmustafa, it depends on the quality of the wind. If you have wind that is constantly blowing in one direction, flying would be considerably easy (of course, it has to be an average wind), but if you have winds that are blowing in all directions, flying could be a headacke. I am not an expert but I have been flying for several months in harsh conditions and I have been able to detect the good and the bad winds. Here in Colombia we have hundreds of clubs, and mine is at an altitude of 4800 feet above sea level. It is pretty high, considering that all planes and engines are tested at sea level. My club has pretty nice mountains surrounding it, that are, of course, several miles away and it won´t be dangerous to crash into them. But there is one factor that could be difficult to manage: The wind. That is because of the mountains and the change of temperatures in the air. As I said before, I am not an expert, so I want to know how can I measure the wind speed, the turbulence, in order to see when I can fly. I´ve always trusted in my eye, but I want to have an instrument that tells me exactly when can I fly and when I can´t fly. I´ll appreciate any help. Thanks.

RE: Flight Simulators
Thanks a lot guys for that help. I guess I will stick to my instructor for several flights until I get ready to fly alone. I will avoid doing things fast: the wrong way.

Flight Simulators
Hi everybody, I am new in this hobby but I have gained some experience flying 2 channel electric planes (Megatech Avion and a Wind Spirit). I have also worked hard with the Real Flght G4 and in that simulator I can takeoff and land easily any aircraft (even the L-39). I also understand the physics of flying which is important. I put some turbulence and some wind in the simulator and I can still land the trainers like the Nexstar, the LP-40, a big stick, a Cessna, a Piper Cub, etc. I feel I am good with the Real Flight G4. I want to know how much can this simulator help me at the time I want to make the transition to real nitro models. I just bought a Hangar 9 Alpha 40 and I haven´t flown it yet, but I want to fly it now with my instructor. Do you think I can fly the Alpha 40 knowing that I can do pretty well with my Real Flight G4? Can anyone tell me what is the similarity of this simulator vs the real flying. How can the simulator help me? Do you think I can be ready in a weekend of real flying? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

engine set up on a funtana 40(need help)
My buddy just got a funtana 40 and a old version of a saito 80 gold. He is in the process on installing the engine. We were debating on which way we were going to install the engine. Inverted? on the side? We need your help. I tried to look for pics on set up but that's just taking too long to go over all the threads. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Santi

RE: Duralite vs Powerflite?
Yes, it is under the one amp load from Duralite. Just to make sure that i have wired this thing correctly. Battery (black lead) to the switch, switch to the 6.0 regulator, and regulator to my receiver. Thats the way i was told to run the system. What reading are you getting off the charger? This is getting frustrating[sm=angry.gif]. Thanks for all your help. Santi

9cap flight condiction
Does the 9C have different flight condiction with a flick of a switch. Instead of flipping 3 switches for my low rates to 3d rates. I didnt read it anywhere in the manual that this thing will do this. Maybe somebody has a better solution. Im not going to buy a 9Z anytime soon so if there is no way. Then i guess i will be flicking some switches[:'(] Thanks, Santi

RE: best wood prop for a saito .91
i have ran the zinger pro props and they just dont have the pull that the menz has. I wonder if Desert Aircraft carries the 15x4, or do you think that the 15x6 would be too much load on the engine for 3d. Plus they are much lighter than the apc. I could sure use some tail weight for better 3d performance.[;)] Santi
