most old school guys dont even care about dyno charts- they throw the motor in and thats the dyno- so far it looks like skillets savage is well ahead of anything anyone else has to date. if you want to compare motors put one of yours in one and run it- otherwise any further discussion on your part is hypothetical at best.

RE: savage top speed?
If 30 or 35 in-oz is all you need to get down the track youre undergeared. peak HP is as far as your motor should go (ideally) the OS dyno sheet says 27,500rpm- I'd gear up until the motor stopped at this RPM. Anything else is just for show- and Ive seen a fair share of guys mod out a motor and put it on a short track, geared to 30-35mph and talk about its "top end" -not impressed at all. to be honest, i found the most advantage in making my savage faster was increasing the diameter of the header pipe.

RE: Rc nitro turbo
For one thing, it would eliminate the huge startup spike, and if you had the right combination of motor/CVT you could keep motor rpm almost constant. that would keep current draw constant, increase runtime and efficiency

RE: Rc nitro turbo
volts x amps=power, but there are a host of other formulas that come into play that you are neglecting. no, a BL motor is nothing like a petrol motor- BL torque is proportional to current, maximum current is at stall. Yes, a hotter motor means more power, but that doesnt directly relate to the motor converting that energy onto mechanical work.

RE: Rc nitro turbo
keeping an electric motor in its torque band draws high amps. amps=heat, so operation on a constant basis in that area of its powerband would be a waste. utilize the CVT reduction to provide the torque needed with minimal motor current. so we're done with turbos now?

RE: Rc nitro turbo
You can't plot rpm until you have a turbine design- so I'm not going to comment in required rpm. It is true 1:1 turbos spin to high rpm, but a small turbo has less mass, so it may be able to have a simple design and operate at its intended range and not need quite as many revs. And the housing could be .020 steel, just like tuned pipes. I think housing, oil requirements and water cooling are well after turbine design.

RE: Rc nitro turbo
Your logic isn't consistent. We can't make a smaller canopener without making the can smaller too. Same principle applies to this imaginary scaled down turbo- it would only probably need to deliver a few pounds(if that) and in the case of these smaller engines a very small volume of air. The compressor would need a diameter in the neighborhood of an inch and a half

In post #81 you seemed to have the whole premise lined up, but now you're drawing a line at the concept. Shutting down the idea unless you are shown proof isn't how ideas get flowing. If you can't be subjective maybe your participation in the thread has run its course?

RE: Rc nitro turbo
For this to advance people need to think outside of the box.... Do the work themselves. Too many people are the "If it works post a pic" and refuse to fathom the concept. Small two strokes haven't been introduced to forced induction due to complexity and manufacturing restrictions. It's easier to increase displacement than add induction. Snowmobiles can be limited by engine size, so induction options are feasable. Stop looking for answers on the Internet- use your heads.

RE: Rc nitro turbo
ORIGINAL: phmaximus LOCK IT... sick of debaiting crap about snowmobiles... if we were still talkin about r/c motors it would be fine
the same principle applies. there were a number of 2 stroke motors in production that utilized turbocharging for what they described as forced scavenging.... in 1948. there are also a number of SAE papers on the effects. gas dynamics and fluid properties are larger subjects than most of you are willing to get into. there are more possibilities than you can comprehend.
