46u is right. That rtr will not make a racer. If you bought it thru paypal, you can still file a claim.

The OS RG was a great piece. The new VG is a great running design, but it will not last. I bet they go back to the ABC. I have and do run STS, but I would not suggest it to others. If $200 is the budget, I recommend the Axe Rossi Mamba. It can be purchased for $190-$200 for a very short time. You can only get this price from the US distributer: sahak@sbcglobal.net
ORIGINAL: 46u You have not checked to see about the diffs front and rear? According to everything I have read the US model is only suppose to have a center spider gear diff and standard front and rear. I have never run spider diffs not sure I would like them and they are heaver then the standard but from what I was told you normally run lighter oil in them.
In my two 8.5s, the front and rear are just standard. I do not see why you would want one any other place than the center. The Spider diff is around 15g heavier. I sold my 8 for around a $50 loss, but since I had not bought any upgrades for it, I came out with the 8.5. My son's 8 has most of the upgrades already, so we will just buy the new radio box, shocks, and pin braces. I had already bought the motor mount, spider center diff, and chassis brace for his. You already have everything, so why change?

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Well yeah, at some point, all you will be able to buy is the ext. version. I just do not buy that 0.079" added to both ends makes that much difference. You know the placebo effect is very real[;)] I almost have mine and my son's H8 up to speed. We will run them on our off road. Our off road is a widow maker/life taker. A real parts seller's dream[8|] H8 stuff is way cheap! And it is built like a tank for the most part[:D] We also run dirt oval. He mounted a very successful campian last year with a XB8R. Never broke a part in 14 months of racing! Two races on the widow maker loosened every damn part on it! Wore out $140 of parts[sm=spinnyeyes.gif] It obviously does better on the euro style track. We are going to run a pair of XB8ECs on the oval this coming season. I bought three XB8ECs. For me, my son, and a friend. The friend backed out when they arrived[sm=rolleyes.gif] I got them at dealers cost plus shipping. Now I'm stuck with an extra. If these things did not last for ever on the oval, I'd keep it for parts, but they are still a bit pricey even at cost! H3lls yeah!!! How about the new EURO CHAMP[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

RE: STS .30 questions...
If you are going to run 20%, remove all the shims except the thinest copper shim. Start leaning now. Lean more on the HSN than the LSN. Run a MC59 until you have a handle on the tune. If you want more on the top and do not mind a little extra tuning from time to time, run the MC8. However, you need to start with the MC59.

RE: any info on the STS .30 REV2
That is correct. The MC59 being a med/hot plug also increases timing, and seems to tune easier. The MC8 will allower higher rpm as it retards timing. The MC9 does not seem practical for this motor in the hands of "the regular guy". Again, start with the MC59.

RE: any info on the STS .30 REV2
Your HSN is way too fat. Leave the LSN at 5.75, and start leaning the HSN. Richen the LSN just enough to keep the temp below 255F every time you go leaner with the HSN. Do not be surprised if your HSN ends up between 2.25-1.75. If the idle ever starts lean revving, fatten the LSN to cure it. I would suggest a MC59 plug until you get it tuned close. Where did you buy your motor? Pipe? Clutch shoes? What is it in?

RE: OFFICIAL CUSTOM NITRO RUSTLER THREAD
The TZ and modified Sirio make more power than the 3.3. They made lots of nasty power! As a matter of fact, I still have the Sirio. I would let it go for a song. The Sirio was easy to install. It drops right in. I had to make my own header, but they make ones now that would fit.

RE: Some questions about XXXNT2 Vs GT2
ORIGINAL: gubbs3 Both trucks would be a great choice. It's just like the difference between Ford and Chevy. You will always find people who will rant and rave over either one. I personally own a Losi AD2 and I love it. The only thing I have done to it is replace all the ball studs with Losi Titanium studs and I have never broken one. I have never had a recurring issue with any other part. I always have an extra pivot block and a full set of arms on hand but that is standard with any vehicle you'll ever own. Go with either one and you'll be happy. The best choice, however, would be the one most popular at your track. That will ensure you have the best setup and parts support possible. I actually race with two Losi factory drivers who always have a full parts stock with them. No one we race with has ever failed to make a race because there was not a part available.
That about covers it. Great reply! For the motor, you might also consider a STS. They make excellent .12s. I bought a few on a deal, and I could let one go for a song[sm=wink_smile.gif] The price would probably make it the winner. The performance is on par with the best out there. BTW, I own and love the GT2.
ORIGINAL: ThunderbirdJunkie I suppose that HPI is just some company that copies other peoples' designs, eh? more to the point, the Firestorm was probably in the late stages of development when the GT2 came out, so any resemblance to IT is either completely coincidental, or you just can't tell the differences between two different stadium trucks.
He he..... I bet that is HPI's story anyway. After building a GT2 a couple of months ago, I must say they are extremely close to each other in design and layout. There was more going on here than coincidence.

RE: STS engine
I like the D21T as well. My son runs one in his XB8. I think it might be a little better than the V-spec that it replaced. We have two off-road tracks here. Both have a different club racing group. At one of the tracks, all the guys are running big $$$ stuff. Last Wednesday, only two buggies were not running either a modified RB or Rossi. One of the two buggies is owned by this guy named Bill. Bill runs a Mugen powered by a STS. I do not know the details of his motor, but I do know he wins all the time. He runs at both tracks. If he does not break, he wins. Now I will say that this guy can drive. He could probably win with an old beater. Bill grew up in a town 26 miles away called Burkbarnett, TX. Same town Steve Slayden is from. They are both the same age. I found out the other day that they use to race electric together. Kind of cool. Sorry to ramble, but my point is that I do not think this guy would run junk. Further, I'm pretty sure that STS power won two major titles in expert truggy last year.
