RE: Who has a 3D printer?...
Woj & Co, we're looking for stronger solutions to replace the thin ABS scale covers used on the struts of the Tomahawk Hawk. You can see the issue some are having on posts 838 and 846 here. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9345755/mpage_34/tm.htm In terms of what we have, I have the mouldings still in the vacuum form sheet they should be cut from so I don't know if you're able to 'scan' that to create the 3D image??? I thought the material used in 3D printing would be plenty strong enough and the technique would allow some nice scale detail to be added? Further thoughts? Rgds Mark
ORIGINAL: modelmancan Hi There was also a dark blue fold up chair left behind Sunday evening, if its yours contact me and we can arrange to get it back to you. I managed to get a couple of flights in later on the Sunday when it was quite with my JL 1/6 F16 with a cam attached to the top of the fin, gives you a good look at the airfield from on high. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXhO6xyudeg
Ah!! Someone found it!!!! It's mine. However, I'm happy for you to dump if it you like as I noticed that someone of, let's say, considerably more volume than I must have sat on it and buckled it. If you have no means to bin it I should be at Wyton on Sunday to take it back off you. Rgds, Mark

Jetcat P200SX question
Guys, Taking stock of last few flights on a new engine/model. The 200SX installed has largest bore tygon from CAT (UAT) to tank, largest bore tygon vent line, large bore tygon stepping down to 4mm into pump (about 6in total length) and regular 4mm from pump to turbine. When running turbine up to full power with GSU attached I saw the maxrpm value of 112,000 at the bottom of the screen but the turbine only got up to 109,700 after 15s at full power. It did seems to increase in the air slightly according to GSU Any ideas why this might be? It performed fine through the flights so do inherent problems. Here are a few GSU screen shots from last flight.... Rgds, Mark

RE: Thomahawk or CARF/Skygate L-39??
Scott, I assume that's a wet weight? The SG L39 comes in just sub 44lb dry. I agree that the ducting may be less than ideal for electric but I'm not sure the THawk is much better.

RE: Thomahawk or CARF/Skygate L-39??
The C-ARF model is certainly a lot more scale than the THawk L-39. Stefan designed it primarily as a WJM model so went all out on the detail. It's as scale as you can buy. The THawk is bigger and maybe has more 'impact' on the ground due to its size but it is not as scale. There is surface detail but it's not true scale. the ailerons are skin hinged too for convenience rather than scale. Both are great versions of the model but the C-ARF/Skygate version is definitely the one to go for if you want scaleness. I think the prices of both are similar but the CARF/SG version comes from the factory as standard at an advanced build stage for which you have to pay handsomely if you choose the Stage 3 build option from Tomahawk. The TH model is huge so harder to transport unless you have a trailer, although you still may struggle if you want to transport it on its wheels as the fin is not removable. Sat on its wheels the top of fin must be nearly 4ft from the ground. If it were me (and I think it will be soon [8D]) I'd go for the CARF/SG version. Rgds, Mark

RE: Storage - hanging jets from the ceiling
In the past I've done what Marc has used but managed to do it on my own by leaving the 'nose' loop attached to the ceiling, putting the nose of the fuse in and letting it take the weight and then just looping the rear around the back of the fuselage. It's a secure and cheap method.

RE: My New Airworld MB339
Thanks guys. I'm really pleased with it. There are a lot of little details I've added (like 2000 ting screws) that really make this my favourite model I've owned to date. I'm hoping it flies as well as I'm anticipating! Still a few little scale bits and bobs to add yet. As for the ARF, based upon the 3 schemes they've copied so far of mine I'd say about 4weeks! [:@] Carsten, I'm pretty much an all scale guy now even though the Ultra Lightning is an awesome bit of kit I'll pass! I've had a word with a couple of guys who might be interested - will chat soon. Cheers Mark PS Scott, nice use of the word "chuffed" LOL. I'll have you drinking tea out of a cup and saucer whilst pointing your little finger yet [:D]

My New Airworld MB339
Guys, Today saw the culmination of what has been a fairly long project. I had this 339 delivered about 18months ago and time has been spent on and off of it over that period. Today, however, I was able to go out and carry out some final taxi test and checkovers prior to the maiden flight. I originally thought she would come in over the 20kg UK CAA weight limit but she does feel pretty light for the size so I'll weigh her properly this week. Paintwork is a fictitious scheme I lifted/tweaked from the Saudi Air Force Hawks. I couldn't find a true scale scheme that floated my boat and, to be honest, I think this scheme is more than believable! The paintwork was done by the (now retired [:o] ) Ray Habgood who always turns out a stunning job - and this was no exception. Lots of phone calls, photos and visits got it just to where we'd both envisaged it. Even he said he was "...proud to go out with this one...". [8D] Span is 280cm Length is 300cm Weight is Approx 20kg Powerbox Competition SRS Powerbox iGyro JR8711 all round Jetcat 180RX GBRJet CAT Jetronics Air Systems Anyway, here are some pics from today (couple of my Cougar too)....

RE: DX18 update Jetcat
ORIGINAL: skaap2k Just another reason to think about moving over to Spektrum!!!
Really?? Other than the cool factor what benefit does this actually offer us? From what I've ever known/seen a turbine sounds fine and then suddenly "whoooooooo" it stops - I've never seen the turbine equivalent of a glow engine where it starts going sick/splutters etc but keeps running (i.e telemetry of the parameters mentioned wouldn't indicate a pending problem/flameout?) Would the real time parameters fed to a display stop flameouts etc? I doubt it. For them to be remotely useful you would also need a 2nd spotter to constantly monitor the data being fed back. That's 3 people to fly 1 jet. Most airliners only need 2 [:D][:D] Or, is it just to stop you having to plug the GSU in after a flight to see these parameters from the flight?? Rgds
