RE: Seagull's
Hi Troops, Here are some images of my DA and like I said it is a work in progress so I will be intertested in your comments both positive or negative. Hi Paul, I was in Albury at Easter time flying at the National Electric Flight Rally, small world. Cheers BJ

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Hi Guys, I would like to join in the brotherhood if there is still room? My Spitfire is a Savex model of a Mk5C 'Malta Defender'. It still has some detail work to be done like fitting the canons and weathering. This model flies a treat but the take offs can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, especially off soft grass strips. RE: Seagull's
Hi Troops, I am amazed that this thread is still going but that just goes to show that you can't keep a good bird down. I have had my DA Electric conversion flying for the past three years now and just love it. This plane has been going through a continuous process of change from day one and is nearing the final stage. First change was to fit retracts but as my batteries are in the fuselage, the nose gear had to retract forward and the stock nose was a little short for this leaving the wheel exposed. This gave rise to a new name - Snoopy. So the lower forward section of the fuselage was made deeper and 30mm longer fiber glass nose was moulded to suit. The stock canopy shape also bugged me so all the glazing was removed, the side window ports filled in and a longer shallower wind screen was strip planked into place (bugger of a job). The new canopy shape had the windows painted on to give the look of a side by side two seater. The lower nacells had the rear sections cut off to allow for engine cooling air exit and plus they were moulded so bad the back section sat off the wing surface by about 15mm. The next modification that is planned is to fit a 'T' tail. I will post some images of my DA in a day or so and for all the people that say it's a shame that it doesn't have real motors, it always gets a comment of "That model flies great and sounds bloody AWSOME". RE: Sickle f3a
Hi Derek, I used JR DS3401 servos for the elevators (4g heavier than S9650) and JR DS9401 servos on the ailerons (16g heavier). What motor, cells, ESC did you use? Carried out the maiden on Friday morning and it flies a treat, maybe just a little bit of mixing required for knife edge, but the conditions may have had an effect on the flight performance just a little. More flights will tell more. Cheers BJ PS any Australian flyers going to the all electric fun fly at Swan Hill on the 4th & 5th of Oct. ?

RE: Sickle f3a
Hi Troops, The bird is all but ready to fly, just tidying up the servo cables and hope to fly this weekend if the weather permits. AUW came in at 5.6kg[&o] but I am using an Eflite Power 160 motor and a Kontronik Power Jazz 63 ESC (only because I had them on the shelf) which are not the lightest choice, plus this model is not a full production unit, so some weight could still be cleaned from the build. Still very happy with the product so far. Cheers BJ

RE: Sickle f3a
Hi Troops, Just recently aquired one of these birds to evaluate and it is nearly ready to maiden. So far it looks to be a good piece of kit although I believe this one is a production sample and some changes will be made depending on what I find during the build and test flights. Cheers BJ
