RE: Scam? Too good to be true?
I just spit coffee all over my screen when I read the "Return Policy" "If you have any problems about the underwear you received, please contact with our customer service within 15 days of receipt. And our customer service will let you know how to process an exchange or refund." Underwear? As in take me to the cleaners?

Sorry for how you acquired a mass of spare parts. But you seem to look at the crash as how we all must look at it, that you were having fun and I am sure you look forward to building a new plane and doing it all over again.

Sounds like a great day Brian, thanks for the flight report. Not bad on the weight with the motor, gives a good testimony for going with a big 2 stroke or gas. Scott

I wonder if there would be any value to purchasing the assets of the magazine (articles, columns, artwork, etc.,) and re-start the magazine using the more timely articles for print - by that I mean to reprint the articles that would still be relavant today such as teaching aerodynamics and aerobatics, teaching how to design, etc. Then maybe that would attract current day info as well. I really like the radial cowl. I have an extra cowl from the Great Planes Piper Cherokee that I bought as a replacement after a crash but found the Cherokee to be too far gone to rebuild. The pictures of the radial cowl just gave me an idea on what to use the Cherokee cowl for. I picture the Tiger would look like a Cherokee Six.

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
ORIGINAL: thebluemax Here are pictures of my JR Sky Tiger that I built in 1986. It was re-covered in 2010 and is still flying to this day. I have an Enya 40TV in the nose and although this is a 40 size engine it is not that powerful. Flies it very nicely. When I built it I made the stab, fin, rudder, and elevator from 1/4 inch balsa instead of the sticks called for in the plans. At the time when I built it I thought they needed to be a little more solid on count of the Enya 40 and to help offset the extra nose weight.  I also have another one that is in the box untouched and there are pictures of that here too.  I maybe putting it up for sale as I don't think I will be building it any time soon. With other projects in the way and one already flying who knows when.  The one in the pictures currently flying is now on display at the Philadelphia Airport until February of next year. The airport contacted our club looking for planes to display in the terminal. We were able to put up about a dozen different planes and my JR Tiger is one of them.
ORIGINAL: nh4clo4 Â I will be starting on a Tiger 60 this fall, What modifications have others done? On my 40 size Tiger 2 , I clipped the wing, and removed some dihedral, and it flew like a pattern plane. It needed more rudder and elevator to my liking, so the 60 will get a modified tail. Attached is a picture of my Tiger 2, I had a bad hangar accident, IÂ might try to get it back in the air too.
I took the dihedral out of both my Sky Tiger and the Tiger Jr. The plane had much better roll rate and authority tracking through loops. Would also flat spin.

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
My kind of club, please sign me up. Over the years I have had the Sky Tiger (fuel rotted fuse and wing still in my rafters), Sky Tiger Jr (want to get plans to build another since I sold this little bugger a number of years ago and regret it), Tiger 2, and now have a brand new Sky Tiger kit in the box in my stash. I always liked the looks of the Tiger, even though I can swear its a low winged Eagle on steroids. Best kind of plane to test engines on since it can fly on anything from a .35 to a .91 on the 40 size alone. The 60 is even more robust for testing power plants and practicing many types of flying. Dan, That .75AX will be great with the Pitts muffler. I am running a Magnum .75 with a Slim Line muffler in mine for the same reason, I already have it, and cannot really afford to drop another $300+ on a 4 stroke. I have the OS .120 4 stroke in my TF Mustang and it does sound really cool on slow flybys, but the 2 stroke will make up for looks since it is just about completely concealed in the cowl. Regards, Scott

RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!!
ORIGINAL: aghost Got a few details to check, otherwise mine is ready to go. 10 lb, CG about 1/16'' ahead of design location, OS 108, Robart air retracts, no additional weight needed for balance. At this point I think TF did a good job on this ARF. Mostly went together well. One flap is a problem with the tab between the inner flap and middle flap coming out of the slot at full 1'' throw. Has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it? Right now, i am just limiting the full throw to about  3/4 in. I am kind of disappointed in the ''kill'' decals. There are about forty individual  ''kill'' markings, not just a couple of full or even partial sets. There's no way i can get that many to line up in any reasonable fashion. Should get it in the air sometime this week. Brian
I also had the tab coming out when the flaps are fully extended. I work with PC boards so had some .062 glass laminate that I used to fabricate a larger tab. You can do the same thing with a piece of sheet styrene. I may need to call Tower about my decals, they have been stored in a climate controlled room yet they all have lost their adhesiveness. So far, I am not impressed with the ARF part of this kit, then again I am just Mr. Unlucky when it comes to ARF's. The plane looks great and I'd say 80% of the construction is fantastic. So far here is the list of boo boo's that my kit has had: 1. Inner flap was glued into the wing. Asked for new wing but was told it was on back-order. I told them I would fix it myself, Tower gave me a $25 credit for keeping the wing. 2. Covering, even if gone over with a gun and iron, still would not adhere in most places. Since I wasn't crazy about the color scheme anyway I pull the covering off. The covering came off like one big banana peel. I wondered if t would have done the same in flight like my KAOS. It seemed a coat of sealer would have prevented the covering from being so loose. 3. Canopy was frosted - Tower sent me a new one 4. Left aileron had a huge split in it. 5. Flap tabs too small. Anyway, I am enjoying the kit and hope to start glassing it later this year. Scott

RE: What size of RC planes do you like?
I started with .40 to .60 size and have pretty much stayed with them. OS engines have been pretty reliable and I haven't needed to buy any new engines for a number of years. Big birds are great to fly but are a pain to store and transport. I have a number of small electrics that are cool to buzz around the yard but just don't give me the buzz that nitro planes give me. I am partially fond of Top Flight 1/7 scale warbirds and have both the Mustang and Corsair in my fleet.

RE: Are we Geeks?
This hobby covers a pretty big spectrum. There are general hobbyist who build and fly for the fun of it who I would not classify as geek. Then there are those who are in the geekosphere who will design and draft their own plane, build it using the latest in composite materials, write their own computer code to control it with on-board video, gps, and telemetry data recording, and then design and build their own power management system and motors. To top it all off they will have a HAM license, turbine endorsement, and most likely will have a L2 high power rocketry certification.

Ditto to the above. Many of the kits are coming back through basement and cottage businesses. There is still a big interest for those who love to build, yes there are still a lot of us, in the old designs because they are simple, inexpensive to set up, and fly so well.

I have the same GP Cap; it won't snap and flies just like you mentioned. The only problem I have had was the wheel pants would catch and jam the wheel and flip the plane over, so now no more wheel pants. Someone mentioned the big rudder, yup, I like it too, this plane will knife edge forever.
