Hey all you Flying Machine Fans !! - I can stay silent no longer, and feel right now is the exact right time to speak out on my best friends behalf ( Don Muddiman ). // I've had so many guys ask me questions about making Dons Plane Electric for several years, knowing that I have reached some wild Speeds with my Scream Machine Reaper. ( Again let me say, Don taught me everything years ago, how to fly, design and build, etc. ) without his help I could've never gone on to create the Reaper. // NOW for the NEWS you want to hear, and I hope Don doesn't mind me plugging his plane big time, HE DESERVES IT.!!! // YOU WILL NOT have to wait for an ELECTRIC verision, his new ARF is built just like he scratch builds his own planes, so it WILL work GREAT as an Electric trust me. !! We have been flying scratch built FMs for several years at SKY PIRATES RC CLUB in Belleview, Fl., built right off of Don's Plans. These planes have now reached speeds and flight times not only equal to the O.S.55 powered fuel version, but faster, with instant straight up ability same as fuel. The weight is the same also when using 5-cell & 6-cell Lipos. Be very careful when picking out your Lipos, always buy best power to weight ratios. Such as a WinForce Lipo 6-cell that only weighs 388 grams. Lighter than most 5 cells. Motors such as Neo Dym 25, or Eflight outrunners in the 750KV to 500KV range work great using 10x7 fuel APC props. The speeds are amazing, plane flies the same, weight is still 4 lbs. 5 ozs. and hauls butt, just no NOISE !! ( Don hates that ). !! So I told him he could always make motor noises with his mouth. LOLS Seriously !! No need to wait for an Electric version, his ARF IS both with very little mods. // Please check out photos of some of our guys Electric Flying Machines at Sky Pirates RC Club Web-Site , go to PHOTOS. These are up to date photos taken as recent as last week. // So if you're hesitating about ordering Don's ARF because you're afraid it won't work as Electric, take a good look boys, we have the Fastest set up FMs rigged Electric in the state of Florida I kid you not.!! Don is fuel all the way and I can't blame him. I went to electric 100% back in 2007 and love it too, it does take some time getting use to hearing your wing rather than the tuned pipe. // End result is, the FLYING MACHINE , has been, and always will be the BEST designed High Speed Sport Aerobatic Plane period. If you think it's not fast set up as Electric, try to catch it. !! - No Matter which one you want, Fuel or Electric, you had better get your name on the list now. Because after people read this, SEE the Photos and what can be done with the FM with minimum effort, there is no doubt in my mind this ARF will dominate EVERY RC FIELD in the U.S period. !! - So for all you guys who think I compete against Don and his plane with my Scream Machine Planes, you have it all wrong. Don is my mentor, he is who I have always tried to model my style of flying after. My main thing is to reach very high speeds yet only use 3-cell and 4-cell Lipos to do it. // The Flying Machine in Electric Version with a 4-cell will out perform the Pogo with a 6-cell set up if this gives you an idea of what we have done. // I just came back from flying today in constant 15 to 20 mph winds flying my Scream Machine REAPER Electric, the regular size and the new MINI REAPER ( one of a kind right now ) and Kevin Goza did his best to Video them both to put on RC Universe next week. The videos should really get some attention fast and open the eyes of allot of folks out there that have no idea just how fast you can make a fully aerobatic Sport Plane go. So many guys get hung up on just SPEED, and Pylon plane YARD DART stuff. I want AEROBATICS and speed, I want my cake and eat it too. // Once you see the Reaper fly, you will get the whole picture of what the Flying Machine can do also. I'll put it this way so all Pilots can relate; there isn't any plane out there powered with a O.S.46 with a tuned pipe and all, that I won't take on. And the Mini Reaper smokes the regular Reaper. I have talked to Don several times about having an Electric Flying Machine ARF someday, and I think it will happen once they get the Fuel version on the Market. Even if it takes a while, just buy the fuel version ARF and start cutting away what's not needed. The Flying Machine still has the BEST aerodynamics of any Sport plane out there. roger p.

Hi RC Maniac, Please trust what I say here. The Flying Machine is VERY versatile; Don Muddimans Flying Machine ARFs weigh the same or less than the scratch built ones we have flown at Sky Pirates RC Club using everything from Dub-Jett 50s to O.S.46, Thunder Tiger 46 Pro, K&B 46, O.S. 40, and it even flew with a O.S.32 on it, but has to be made to fit, but the point is, it flew pretty well even under powered, which helps allot of guys slowly work their way up to being an advanced Pilot who can ring it out some day. This is the REAL PLUS also; if you want to go all ELECTRIC, no problem !! Here is the best, cheapest way to go and the speed is good too. !! Motor use a NEO-DYM 25 - with a 10x8E APC Prop, or play around some on your own. ESC - (electronic speed controller) use a 75 Amp ice light by Phoenix Castle up to a 100 amp . // Don't go cheap here !! Lipo Battery use a (WinForce) 4-cell 14.8 volt 3000mah 35C rating, only 277 grams - you can get these on Ebay from GO-MARKET ( Hobby King ) for 35.00 free shipping. Never pay 85.00 for one.!! You will see higher than recommended amp and watt readings, don't worry about that, the key to Electrics is GET AIR FLOW IN & 4x that much OUT. // So modify the nose with GILL slits and air intake underneath front bottom of fuselage. // Then on the rear bottom of fuselage between bulkeds, open up a 1 3/4" wide x 3" long rectangle hole (door) to vent as much air out as possible. Be sure to cut the front of this opening at a 45 degree slant toward the front so as to not grab air, but help exit it out. Hope my directions help some here.?? This set up will give you flight times as long as any fuel plane, and enough speed to keep up or out run most. There are other Lipos you can try also, I'm just saying this is the best and cheapest. Now, if you want to go all Electric and run the same speed as the O.S. 55 , still no problem with Don's own plane. // Lighten it up every where you can, use Hitech HS-65-HB Servos, same set up as above, but go to a 5 cell Lipo or a 6-cell if you really want to push it to the max, but you will also have to choose props that let the motor wind on up and never over load an electric more than 10% of it's rpms. Keep the motors cool and you can out perform anybody else around. Here is an example of what I'm trying to say. // On my Scream Machine Reaper, I run a 34 amp / 275 watt motor. However, I push it to 60 amps & 970 to 1017 watts, but I keep it cool by using a RAM AIR hatch cover. The other advantage of the Flying Machine is, you have room enough on the bottom to make a trap door for easy loading and unloading your Lipo battery without removing the wing. So the Flying Machine can be whatever you make it. !! There is no limit with Don's plane, your BRAIN is the only limit, you the Pilot are the weakest link here. !! LOLs !! Hi to Pat & Airraptor, ( unfortunately emails don't show tone of voice, but this is sent in the kindest way ) This reply is sent to you both in order to hopefully set a few things straight. // I have never yelled at anyone in an Email, and I enjoy all peoples input up to the point where it becomes so misleading that it affects other newer folks to the Hobby. This I will respond to everytime. First of all, the Scream Machine is my own design based on everything Don Muddiman taught me back in 1979- to 1986. Don went his way with different measurements, turtle backs, schrouded in motor, different rudder, (just look at his rudder compared to mine), Foam Wing, etc. // I went my way with a totally different wing Airfoil design of my own, a completely different rudder (just look at photos of both planes) vertical stab changed, and even more changes to the wing and fuselage TODAY to finally become the ELECTRIC REAPER SCREAM MACHINE, which by the way is a HIGH SPEED FULLY AEROBATIC PLANE that you nor anyone else can possibly tear it up doing ANY wide open maneuver. It's also just as fast as the Jett-50 powered fuel version. //// Now, how in the world can you or anyone else ever compare the Scream Machine or the Flying Machine to a Quickie 500 ?? So please look right now at a Quickie 500 !! don't you at least notice that it's a LOW WING, with a LONG coupled wing set up ?, That it has a very long fuselage leaning more toward a Pattern Plane ?, that's why it's good for drawing lines in the sky, that it also has a very weak horizontal wing that simply mounts on the fuselage surface ! ? ( my rear wing mounts in a split fuselage ) .The Quickie is not an aerobatic plane at all, it is never to be compared to a Scream Machine nor Flying Machine plane, it is exactly what you guys like, a fast Yard Dart. ! It will not and cannot do high speed aerobatics, REAL high G aerobatics, it will blow up in the sky and become Balsa dust if flown by me. No, the Scream Machine is not a 180 to 220 mph VIP, or RIFLE PYLON PLANE, YARD DART !! those ARE FAST Planes.!! But it and the Flying Machine to this day are still the fastest ( 125+ mph ) fully aerobatic SPORT PLANES out there period that will take more than any pilot can dish out !! . No V-Tail, no Quickie, no Hots, nothing comes close, I know because I've flown them all. // It's a shame you all will never have the chance to FEEL the precise, smooth, rapid direction changes of a Scream Machine at unbelieveable speed. // Like my Ad says; This is NOT just another Stick. !! In closing let me say this; I love this Hobby, I share with anyone all I've learned the hard way to get to where I'm at today. // I had no one else to turn to and ask what do I do next to gain more speed, a lighter wing, never over heat my electronics, and still maintain a plane that can live up to the name SCREAM MACHINE. I've done NOON time Air Shows all over Florida at 16 Air Fields over the years, you know you've done a good show when folks come up to you and say; Man, I've never seen anybody fly like that except DON MUDDIMAN !! To me that's the greatest compliment I could ever receive. Don taught me in 1979, we are still like brothers today, talk every week, and I have always been right on his butt when it comes to flying. Nope !! when it comes to Jett 50 Motors, Dub will tell you the same thing; use 15% , no less !! Also, the average guy NOT Pylon racing, never needs to use 20% or more, you're just turning your motor into a blow torch for no reason. // The biggest mistake people make with Dub-Jett 50s is TOO HIGH OF A PITCH PROP, over load it, and burn it up. You have to let these motors turn the HIGH rpms with a richer setting , unload and get on the pipe like a dirt bike. !! Always keep it tuned so you see a light smoke trail from the muffler at all times and you will love it. !! If you're wanting this motor to also HOVER your plane, sorry, it has a slight dead spot there, go buy a Helicopter. !! If you're thinking , well I'll just buy a O.S. Max 55 then it'll do everything !! WRONG ! It's got a dead spot there too, plus it DOES NOT perform at HIGH rpms, it's happy at 15,500 to 16,000 rpms. It is a okay motor, but the O.S. 46 to me was better. // Never try to compare an O.S. motor to a Jett 50. The Jett 50 is a RACE motor designed by Dub-Jett to go after his pal NELSON. !!!! You get what you pay for and yes the Dub-Jett 50 sport with muffler costs 310.00 plus tax. The muffler that comes with it now is the high performance one, and nowadays the Motor is a BAR STOCK machined motor much better than the old ones. However, I ran all my Dub-Jett 50s for at least 3 to 4 years and ran them hard !!, and still sold the whole plane to other folks who are still flying them today, like Kevin Goza !!. // I use to wear out at least (2) O.S. 46 FX motors per year before, they just can't take the beating, and I ran them hard and cool. !! I love O.S. Motors too, don't get me wrong, but if you want the speed, and the best, you'll pay to get it. In the long run, Dub-Jetts are much cheaper to own, you only need ONE !!!! You still use Omega PINK 15% fuel with the Jett 50s , never the GREEN Crap !! NEVER !! // Go to Dub-Jetts Hall of Fame, he even says it right there; Roger runs his Motors harder than any customer he has. !! True story !! -rp

YOU Got it man !! The very first time I saw a Dub-Jett 50 Sport, was back in 2000' and it was on a Duster plus had a carbureter, most did not and were used only on Pylon planes. // So I immediately bought the 50 Sport model and ran those on my Scream Machines for years. Got to know Dub very well and for a couple of years he sent me all his newest Mufflers to see if the Scream Machine could break the baffle loose inside again like I had done numerous times before with high G maneuvers and wide open straight down at the ground WAD-UPS ( jam both sticks forward and together toward antenna) much worse than the so called blender. Well the rest is history, he perfected his mufflers so I could not break them !! and that's what comes on your motor today. They are the best muffler out there. !! // If you flew a Duster with a Jett 50 on it, YOU ARE THE MAN !!!! roger p.

Beautiful Flying Machines !! - Wait till you get your hands on one rigged with a Dub-Jett 50 Sport Motor turning 19,200. rpms with a Master Air Screw 10x5 prop. This makes it a whole new ball game. !! It's an absolute rocket and the ONLY Plane that can out run my Scream Machines. !! Dub-Jetts have the best power to weight ratio you can get, plus come with a light weight perfect tuned pipe already. // Try one once, you owe it to yourself. !!

A person has to have that desire inside to NOT settle for planes that are just okay, or let yourself get stuck in a rut, you have to keep pushing yourself and planes to the MAX, you have what it takes for sure. // It makes me feel proud to watch you and others out there be motivated by my Scream Machine and keep pushing yourself harder all the time. I try to push the limit with Electrics and will soon have a MINI REAPER in the AIR ( Oct. 9th ) I hope !?, powered by the Neu 1105/2Y -3.2 - 5000KV Motor. I'm seeking Pylon plane speeds or close, yet fully aerobatic. This one should be a real crowd pleaser, and you sure don't want to miss the CRASH if that happens. !! From Roger Purcell ( designer of the Scream Machine & The Electric version ( REAPER ) !! Photos will be coming soon !! Coming very soon in July, my Scream Machine REAPER Electric Plans will be available in a very unique way, I call it ( RTTP ) ready to trace plans. The plans or actually ( Templates ) will be on a sheet of Stick On Vinyl. So all you have to do is peal the part off and stick it on your Balsa wood etc. and start tracing. You will receive your plans in a (Tube) along with several sheets of Basic Instructions, Building Tips, Power supply set up I use personally, Fuselage Diagram showing where each type wood is used, etc. BUT MAINLY !! You will also get my Email address so you can immediately contact me and receive ALL photos showing how these planes are built, beginning to completely finished. You will have the best directions and photos to look at and reference to, far better than trying to scratch build off of blue print style plans. This plane and the building of it, are for the advanced Pilot / Builder who wants more than the Market offers in any other Plane or ARF PERIOD. !! Even if you're an average or above Pilot / Builder, once you have built this Plane you will be a Master Builder when finished, plus you will have learned WHY things are designed the way they are and you can apply this knowledge to all your future projects. Most guys in RC sort of hold back what they have learned, I don't. !! The Flying Machine has a FOAM CORE WING of course !! But it gets CUT BY HOT WIRE following a wing RIB design on each end while cutting it. // That's all I'm saying, it's AIR FOIL design is not like a Scream Machine wing. -rp

Hi from Roger P. ( Scream Machines ) The Flying Machine wing rib design is not like the Scream Machine Rib. // Mine is thinner 3/4", faster, yet still provides more lift with instant recovery out of any high speed, high G, maneuver. So it never stalls, never loses altitude till it starts to fly again, as soon as it MOVES period, all controls are ready to go. !! It still lands like a Trainer though. // Both planes have a semisymetrical wing design in common, but that's all. My Scream Machine is a built up wing, The Flying Machine is Foam sheeted over with balsa. The Scream Machine has positive lift built into the Rib design, and a trailing edge air spoiler effect built in, but has the forward air attack of a fully symetrical airfoil. There is no other airfoil like it, and I've been told by Real Aircraft designers that it shouldn't do what it does because it does not follow their theory of wing design. // Well, IT WORKS !! rp

Hi , The Nelson Motors tend to be on the heavy side compared to the O.S. 55 or the Dub-Jet 50 sport. So if you mount it on your Flying Machine it will be nose heavy and will not deliver the performance you're expecting. // Rig it just like Don Muddimans using the O.S. 55 with the 7.5cc Mac tuned pipe (no bafffle ) 11 1/2" long pipe // use a 8 oz. Hi, This is ( Roger Purcell ) builder and designer of the SCREAM MACHINE Planes and the ELECTRIC REAPER SCREAM MACHINE PLANE. // They have changed very little since 1985, and they are in NO WAY LIKE any other stick style plane out there NOW, or in the past. My Wing Rib design is unlike any other, and un-matched for speed and high speed aerobatics by any body elses period.! ! The REAPER ELECTRIC is a very modified version of the fuel Scream Machine with a super fast thin wing with very high lift charactoristics. It runs 117 to 122 mph with no over heating. Weighs 2 lbs.4 ozs. with 5 lbs. + thrust. I switched to all Electric back in 2007' after messing with electrics ( my own designs ) for about 5 years prior. You had asked another member if you could get plans or copy templates ?? I have talked with him and he has my permission to help you out with that ASAP. !! Years ago I had Laser cut kits produced and still retain the CADS DISC for that with all the info ready to go and cut more anytime. Talk to Kevin about this because soon I will let him go at it if he so desires. // Remember one thing !! No other Plane out there NOW or BEFORE out handles, out flies or out maneuvers a Flying Machine or the Scream Machine and never will. !! So when you decide to build one, follow the directions to a T. There is a reason for everything on this plane !! and when you see the wing rib design, do not try to change it in anyway, it may look unlike all you've seen before, because it is. !! The REAPER wing will never be allowed to be copied by anyone nor could they anyway. // Well GOOD LUCK !! Have a great time building one, and when you're through, you will be a master builder. !!
