DA 85 Header, Flex or no flex???
Hi Folks, I am planning to install the KS tuned pipe on my DA 85 and I am wondering about the header. Should I buy one with flex or no flex?? I am asking because troybuiltmodels are saying that the flex one may break over time. 'The non flex pipes are made with 2.5 degrees of right thrust built in so they install easily and won't leak or break.' Thanks

RE: Learning To Hover
Lazer, Nothing can match the feeling of a 33% hovering right on the deck. Try it!
ORIGINAL: Lazer My question is: Why would you want to use a plane to hover when that's what full scale planes can't do and helicopters were designed for?
I am telling you this: Run 2 battery on 2 separate switches for redundency. You will thank yourself someday. If not then do like me: live and learn! [:D]

RE: HELP WITH MY SukHoi 26 mm
You need bigger bolt on the cowl. I also added a foam support at the front for better support.

RE: NEW Hangar 9 85cc SU-26MM Sukhoi
'' so far, the only brand I have not had to reglue or add additional supporting braces to are the AeroWorks products.'' Same here. I have 200 + flight on my AW Yak and I have yet to shrink the plane for the first time. I will probably get the new 100 cc edge coming soon. The suckoi flies great but the maintenance and regluing I have to do after each flight is getting ridiculous.

RE: NEW Hangar 9 85cc SU-26MM Sukhoi
''My H9 Sukhoi 26MM w/ DA 85 came apart in the air on the 12th flight.'' I am about to give up on mine. The plane so far is a complete nightmare. 2 flights = 2 hours of maintenance and regluing. The cowl is not holding , same for the canopy... It's a shame that H9 did released the plane with so much bugs. I swear this is my last H9 product.

EG Aircraft 100 CC Extra 300???
Anyone flying the EG Aircraft 100 CC extra? I am looking for feedback regarding that bird. I hesitate between this and the Aeroworks 100 CC edge. Thanks for sharing.

RE: H9 85cc Sukhoi SU-26MM ARF/DA 85 questions.
Andrew, Very sorry to burst your bubble.. The Suckoi is a great flying plane but sooner or later you will have problem with it. The question is when. They should never had recommended a 85 in that airframe. It simply can't handle it. So many owners are having problems with that bird. Mine probably won't last the end of the season. Good luck with yours.
ORIGINAL: Andrew_S Wow Serge, that's got me worried now....My 85 doesnt shake, at least not that I can tell...I wonder how many other folks have had this problem? RE: H9 85cc Sukhoi SU-26MM ARF/DA 85 questions.
A combinaison of both. Poor gluing and the DA 85 shacking the plane aparts. Firewall and engine box, canopy, landing gear, cowl not holding etc... I sold my DA 100 for the 85... Biggest mistake I did in the Hobby. And yes my spinner and prop are perfectly balanced.
ORIGINAL: Andrew_S Guys, what came apart on the planes and do u think it was a result of the da85 or poor gluing?
RE: H9 85cc Sukhoi SU-26MM ARF/DA 85 questions.
That's your money but I am telling you this: forget it. I had nothing but problem with that combo. Every parts on the the plane has been reglued. That 85 is a beast but you need the right airframe to handle it. Put a twin like the DA 100 or do like me: live and learn! :)

RE: Aero Works P-51?
''We have worked for over two years on the design of the Mustang and it is now in production.'' This is where AW is geting all my respect. When they get a new plane out, rest assured that it has been tested and is bug free. Its not a falling apart prototype that you must debug yourself.. Not the case with many other ARF manufacturers. Keep the good work Rocco. Serge
ORIGINAL: arobatx Curious....how did your piston, ring and groove look? Got any photos with the cylinder pulled?
The piston is ok with little mark of débris at the top. For the rest I can't see. I am sending the engine to DA today. There is a lot of grinding noise coming from the crank. Looks like the bearing cage is in pieces.

DA 50 crank bearing went off in flight.
Oh well My Da 50 is dead. The crank bearing broke in flight and seized the engine. Time to send it back to DA for service. The engine had 15 gallons and was running amsoil 85/1 synthetic. Anyone got the same issue with the crank bearing? Thanks

Please Help: Going nut with paddle adjustment.
Hi all, I am trying to adjust the paddle on my helimax kinetic 50 and I am totally lost. I put the paddle flush with the arm like they say in the manual and the flybar seems to be allright. However if I rotate the head 180 degree the flybar paddles are going down and the heli always move backward in flight. In some ways, the rotor head seems to move the paddle out of adjustment when it rotates. I have to give it full trim to keep it from going backward. What I am doing wrong?? Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks

RE: Building the new H9 Sukhoi SU 26MM
Rob, Can you show pic of your cowl set up? What are you using to replace the silly tube? Thanks Serge
ORIGINAL: Rob Howarth Had another 9 flights with mine today. With cowl mounting sorted, it stayed on all day. Advice to new builders - mount the cowl with larger bolts and get rid of that silly tube damping method. CofG is now spot on and quite a lot of time was spent getting the mixing and expo just right. I have to say that this airplane is probably the best monoplane I have flown. It is just so well designed - a delight to fly. Performance with the DA85 is outstanding! Only one issue left to sort - canister mounting. That needs a rethink in terms of how to hold it in place whilst retaining a bit of damping.
RE: Building the new H9 Sukhoi SU 26MM
Perhaps the excessive vibration is due to the engine mounted directly on the firewall?? How about a 1/4 ply between the engine and firewall to absorb some vibrations?? Or filling the engine box with urethane? [:D][:D][:D]
