RE: 4 tec tires
I have recently tried the HPI X-pattern tires and really like them. Great traction and corning at high speeds. I run on rough concrete mostly and they do great.

RE: Help on tuning 2.5!
Is it bogging or does it sound more like hesitation when you hit the gas? Be careful, you maybe leaning it out too much. You'll know if the motors too rich by tons of smoke coming out the exhaust or oil dripping out the exhaust. Go to the Traxxas website and you can findout the stock needle settings.

RE: 4 tec chasie
Yes Traxxas does upgrade parts over the different model years to stronger parts. I'm not sure which model you have, it must be a really old model, because the axles breaking means it has the older style axles like the electric 4tec had. The 2.5 and 3.3 are very similar, my 3.3 4 tec was an original 2.5 4 tec and it hasn't broken axles or such. The older electric stampede/rustlers used plastic gears in there transmissions, but when the VXL brushless systems came out they upgraded all there stampede/rustlers to metal gear transimission...ask me how I found that out LOL...just as an example.

RE: Help. Traxxas nitro 4tec 2.5
Check to make sure you're getting fuel, air and "spark"...the three parts needed for combustion. We know you getting "spark" because you have a new glow plug in and the light on ez start is on. When your turning the motor over, trying to start it, are you seeing fuel run through the fuel line, from the tank to the carb? If not, try holding your thumb over the exhaust opening and turn the motor over with the ez start, this will put some back pressure on the tank and push fuel to the carb. Also, check to make sure your carb is not closed. Pull your air filter housing off and check to see if the carb is cracked open when your trying to start the engine. If none of this is working, there's a possiblity the motor doesn't have good compression. It could have been damaged when you ran it a few times 5yrs ago getting it too hot not knowing what you were doing at the time. Also, if you see any fuel coming out the exhaust it means the motor is flooded and wont start. Hope something here helps you out. Let us know how it goes.

RE: What big block would fit?
OS are much over price, though nice engines, over priced, just like in the plane/heli world. I have a Savage XL now and really like the 5.9 for all the torque it has down low and midrange. I know many people don't like them, but (knock on wood) I've had great luck with mine. The Piccos seem to be the most sought after. How about the Ofna Force .28? New Era, has a nice little kit with motor and mounting hardware included. What's the difference between the Picco .26 and .28 other than displacement? Does the .26 have better parts/metals, or made for more rpm? It seems to go for a little more $ than the .28 Are the Force line of Ofna motors good?

What big block would fit?
What's the largest displacement motor I can fit into the REVO 3.3 using the same mounting bolt pattern as the TRX 3.3 motor??? And, what's the best recommended big block to replace the 3.3 and if needed what's the best BB kit to use? Could a HPI Savage XL 5.9 motor be made to fit in a REVO???? Thanks!

RE: Intake area and needed volume?
I'm no engineer, but there is a reason that many EDF jet have larger openings on the intake ducting, or on some, have cheater holes on the bottom or sides of the jet. Those intake openings you have on your model look small, even smaller than what would be scale to me. There is some science and engineering in airflow into intake ducting, flowing through the fan, and openings as the flow leaves the rear of the jet.... Think of it this way... Imagine trying to breath through a straw, and then imagine trying through a paper towel roll. I would think that if the hole is not big enough, then the motor would be pulling extra amps trying to "suck" in air through the ducting, just like you would have a hard time breathing through a straw.

Koolaid, let us know how the flights go and how long they take, and also how the landing gear does for you. Speedracer, surely someone makes aftermarket mechanical retracts out there that would be the right size?

Speedracer, koolaid, or anyone else with this jet... what battery are you using? Are you using a 18.5v or 22.2v? What mah size are you guys running and how long are the flights? Thanks!

RE: Banana hobbie's new f18
So speedracer, you haven't gotten another attempted flight? What happened on take off? So even though you haven't flown it yet, you'd recommend passing on the 90mm banana hobby jets? Do you think that fiberglass is the way to go over foam? You obviously have alot of foam jets, but say you don't like foam....? Oh, and why did you like the Nitroplanes 70mm F16 as the best foam jet??? Thanks

RE: Hobby-Lobby F-18 don't fly!!!
I had gottent he BH's L-39 ARF, and I found it to be underpowered. So I placed one of Dons Wicked motors and esc and now its pretty quick and has good power. You might want to try this route. http://www.donsrc.com/cart/index.php

Fiberglass or Foam???
Which way is the better way to go? I'm really looking for a fast jet in the 64mm-70mm range. Something that could use a 14.8v lipo. Fiberglass seems to be a faster styling, but is much more pricey. I've thought about going with the 64mm F-5 from Hobby lobby and then throwing a wicked motor in it. But then I think it may be better to go with a fiberglass style jet. I think BH's new 90mm F-18 that goes up to 130mph looks fun, and I like the scale appearance and retracts. But it's really pricey and I'd have to invest in some expensive 22.2v lipos (not sure I want to go that route or not)..... PS: I've currently got the BH's L-39 with a 4000 wicked motor and 14.8v. It's quick, but I'd like something much faster.

RE: Help! Vacuum won't let me fly! LOL
The weirdest part is that I can't visually see any separated wires along the damaged areas. It appears to be superficial damage, but not.

RE: Help! Vacuum won't let me fly! LOL
That's unusual. Like most arf airplanes, or most rc stuff in general, you can by separate replacement pieces if they foul or are damage. I'd figure someone on ebay would have a generic cable that would work, just would know how to find it... I think it was just the outside shroud that was confusing me, didn't think about the seperate wire inside.

I can solder regular gauge wire. Is this the same or are there smaller wires inside the main wire? Could you guys lead me toward a start of how you would solder this type of wiring? Thanks! Brian C Oh, Rajul, when there is a new USA supplier will they sell just this wire as a replacement?

Help! Vacuum won't let me fly! LOL
Well, a while back I had an incendent with the vacuum cleaner coming in contact with my USB cable for my AFPD. As you can see in the pics, it's well damaged. The computer doesn't see the cable anymore when connected, for obvious reasons... So I went to Ohio Models, where I bought my AFPD over 2 years ago, and they said they don't handle Aerofly Pro, and that I needed to talk to Hobby Lobby RC. So when I called Hobby Lobby, and told them the cable I needed (and was on hold for 10min while she looked for what I needed). Get this, she came back on the phone and told me that to replace the cable, it would cost me $160.... LOL! A cable costing that, I told her there's obviously a mistake in the price. She told me she didn't believe it either and double checked and that is what their computer really said... what a joke. Anyway, where can I get a replacement USB adapter you see picture here?

RE: Electrifly L-39 Rx-R,.... BOOM !!!
If you have no flying experiance at all other than these 2 1/2 flights of the L-39, well I'm surprised you made it past the first flight without crashing. My advice would be to either get a slower flying plane and learn on that, or even better, get a flight sim and you will learn wonders...

RE: Need more power from L-39 jet
ORIGINAL: Matt Kirsch A better quality 3S pack of the same capacity, such as a ThunderPower, will improve both power and duration. Not all packs are created equal. The Banana Hobby batteries are certainly okay as you've found out, but considering the price they charge for the plane, they certainly aren't including top shelf batteries.
So would you say go with a just a higher quality battery, or go with a higher quality battery and a higher "C" discharge rate??? I'm still not fully clear on what the C rating is for and why is it better to go to a higher number rating, or is it???

RE: Need more power from L-39 jet
It comes with an advertised 4300kv inrunner brushless motor and a 30amp brushless ESC. It came with an 11.1v 1300mah 20c continuous lipo. It does alright, but only had a 5min flight and no more. I had a old thunder power pack with 13c continuous, and it got ruined. I brought the jet down, opened the hatch, and the battery was swelled up! Trashed it. So you think a good solustion would be to up my "C" rating to a continuous 25-30c and maybe a high burst rating???

Need more power from L-39 jet
Hey guys, I've got a L-39 64mm fan jet from Banana Hobby recently. I flew it for the first time yesterday. It's a great looking plane and seems to have good flying characteristics. BUT on a 11.1v 1350mah battery, it doesn't seem to have the power I would expect it to have. Also, the 1350mah pack last a total of 5mins and it was totally empty. So what are my options??? Could I simply throw in a 14.8v 2200mah battery and get more time and thrust? Or is it more complecated than that? Please let me know if you have any info it's greatly appreciated!!!

What's the best 6-7ch Walkera???
What Walkera helicopter, in you guys opinion, is the best flying 6-7ch helicopter that's out there now or for 2009? Im looking at the Creata 400 or the 60B metal version (which im not sure is out yet in US). I'm looking for something brushless, lipo battery, belt driven tail, and the most stable/reliable best setup helicopter. Let me know what some of you guys think or your experiances. Thanks!
