RE: 5th Annual West Texas Warbirds
Well, Tom sent me pictures of me and my PC-9 from the Mall Show yesterday. Its finally all balance and all the servos are working correctly. Now if I can just get the engine to work I'll be happy!

Making allowances for real life getting in the way at the last minute, I should be able to be there the whole weekend. Even better, I'll be bringing back my eRC B-25J and Seagull Models PC-9 (fingers crossed for both models).

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Hello Spitfire lovers the world over! I post here a link from my blog about a recent discovery ( http://aerospacedreams.blogspot.com/2012/04/20-spitfires-discovered-in-burma.html ). I too would like to join the Spitfire brotherhood. I have a old Royal Spitfire kit that I am rebuilding and once had a micro eRC Spitfire.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Recently, a Royal kit of the (small size) Spitfire landed in my lap and now I am in the process of restoring it to a flyable condition. The fiberglass covering was cracking, but I (re) wet sanded the whole fuselage and wing and now it looks good again. Just have to spray a new coat of primer on the old girl. Other things that have to be done to her are bending a new set of Landing gear wires, cutting a exit for the elevator push rod and re-connecting the internal rudder pushrod. I'll have to wait on a 2-stroke motor and radio gear to stick into it. My question to the Spitfire brotherhood is if any of you have ever flown this old Royal Spitfire kit before? Tip stalling, etc???

These pictures are from Saturday, August 6th. The young lady is Brittney Bennett. The full size warbird that flew into the event from the Slaton Air Museum is a replica of a Japanese Ki-51.

RE: Liberty Belle Crashes and Burns - one less full scale B-17 now.
Ditto. I got to fly on her back in 2007. Hearing about this crash really hit me hard at work yesterday. I flew in the morning and in the afternoon, I was walking into my work place when I heard those four engines. I looked up and there she was at 2,000' agl. She flew RIGHT over the parking lot that I was standing in the middle of. Seeing her fly over, tears came to my eyes. I like to think of it as a parting gift from my father who passed away in July of 2007. My flight on Liberty Belle was several months later. I went into work to face angry cable tv/internet/telephone customers on the phone with a better spirit after that 'personal' flyover.

RE: new production warbirds
ORIGINAL: WWIIpilot Yes, I would be very interested. However, with the option of converting your fixed gear to retracts! Thank you
Agreed. Have the kits equipped with fixed gear. But the option for retracts must be built into the kit from the get go. Just drop in some Hobbico mechanicals or one of the new electric retracts sets coming out on the market (from E-Flite series, etc).

RE: new production warbirds
ORIGINAL: LDM I like the idea and your cost and my comment on scale is inline with you . I dont want complicated but some obvious errors in the appearance will hurt sales and I am not talking about airfoils and things for the decerning eye . Examples lack of flaps on a Corsair lack of counter balances in a P40 tail or P51
Then I say go for it man. If the buyer wants to pimp the model out more than what it was originally - thats up to them. You have provided the canvas that they can then 'improve' upon.

RE: new production warbirds
ORIGINAL: fillofillo Thank you all for the answers. 1:5 scale is too big to produce in that range of prices. We are studying a kit tha will cost 90 euro (130 dollars) for the fighters 62'' span 60/90 engine. The kit will include: - fiberglass fuselage (detailed with panel lines) - fiberglass cowl (detailed) - canopy - foam wing and tail covered in balsa - fixed gear - some abs part - some wood parts The scale will be much near as possible to the original. (we are going to produce some plane wich will fly well, not to complicate and unstable as the real scale are) I think 90 euro (130 dollars) is a good price. Many people talked about RTF, we are going to produce warbirds for all the people who want to paint by himselfs and want the warbird look ''real''. Those RTF plane are nice but the doesnt look realistic. What do you think about my offer for the kits? Thx
I'm OK with the 62-70" wingspan model range you are planning. Its the size range that I can afford. And I personnally like the idea of being able to paint the model in whatever paint scheme I want. But I would like the kit to include a standardize set of decales. For example, a P-51D Mustang would have a decale sheet of the side, top left wing, bottom right wing Star and Bar plus a decale set of stencil numbers to let the purchaser decide on the serial number of the paint scheme he is trying to reproduce with your kit. Look at my aviatar, that was my first H9 P-51D and I recovered it and painted it to look different. I was given a second H9 P-51 that had crashed-was rescued from the trashcan, and did a totally different scheme with it. I now have a third .60 size H9 P-51 yellow tail and when this year's flying season is over with, I'm planning on stripping her down to the bare wood for inspection and then recover. Getting back to the size of the model. A friend on mine flys both the Kysoho Me109 and the FW190 and both are good flying machines.

RE: new production warbirds
ORIGINAL: LDM after you get over looking at the women , there is one hell of a Corsair in that picture , retracts , flaps , tail hook , laoded , aprox 64'' span , soon to be rolled out by starmax via distributors world wide , this detail in an EPO is incredible considering the wing loading is so light it will deliver a very enjoyable flying format
Larger size pictures please [:D] Especially of the woman and the F-4U Corsair. Once you click on them, they're barely larger than the preview images to begin with!

RE: From My senator!!!-Hurray
ORIGINAL: phakur Thank you for your recent letter regarding model aircraft and the FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act (S. 223). I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this important matter. As you may know, during Senate consideration of S. 223, Senator Inhofe proposed an amendment to exempt model aircraft used for recreational, sport, competition or academic purposes from regulations or policies set forth by the FAA. I support common-sense policies that relieve citizens of excessive and unnecessary regulation. You will be pleased to learn that Senator Inhofe's amendment passed with unanimous support and was included in the Senate-passed version of S. 223. I appreciate having the opportunity to represent you in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me. Sincerely, JOHN CORNYN United States Senator
Yup- Same letter I got today myself. Lets hope that they REALLY mean it.
