RE: VXL Stampede 2s2p Emoli Low voltage Cut-off
this isnt the electric forum... but i'll help u anyway[:D] the VXL ESC is a really shatty ESC, they have a dogey LVC that can turn on at any time, if the voltage drops for a microsecond below it's threshhold then it will shot off to half power. most other ESC's re-set after this happens in case it was a false activation. 2s is the BIGGEST proplem with hte VXL ESC's as 2s will drop its voltage more than a 3s. the lower the voltage the more amps you need and you are only just..but you are overworking this pack. it's probably a 20c burst rating....if that as most lipo manufactures over-rate their lipo's. and god forbid!! dont go and buy maxamps!!! they are one of the worst out there!! get 3s lipo or a mamba max ESC and sell your VXL ESC (keep the motor as that is a a resonable motor) and your problem will go away.
ORIGINAL: INTENSE You mentioned your dislike with Integy parts? To be honest with you, I know nothing about Integy other than the parts seem to look great. Why do you dislike them? Anyway, I'm sure that I'll have some questions and from what I've read on these forums the short time I've been a member. There seems to be allot of knowledge here. Thanks guys
yeah intergy is one of the worst aluminium aftermarket supplyers out there. 90% of the time...the stock part is stronger, intergy looks great so it's good for shelf-queens but usuless in a bashing truck. they cast their aluminium and dont machine it like FLM do, this leaves little bubbles in the aluminium during the moulding process and severly weakens the product. so instead if just bending the aluminium...it just snaps like a carrot!!![:@][:@]

RE: OFFICIAL REVO THREAD- EVERYTHING REVO
nice revo ^^^^ BUT EWWWWW INTERDY!!!! hey guys, I'm a brushless dude and always will be, but for now I'm gonna run a nitro for a while until i get my other revo conversion fired up... so I'm gonna run the following... revo 2.5 center diff rear brake (yes i already had a modded chassis so yes it fits) stock steering servo platinum brake/throttle servo trx 3.3 w/ EZ start (makes things a lot easier if you flame out) and a Davis diesel con-rod oh and a trx resonator pipe (best i have on hand) oh and i race BTW [;)] prog 2 rockers and Ive got the suspension set up real nice[:D] diff oils are 100k front, 500k center, 5k rear I'm told you want the rear VERY lose so i did and the front pretty stiff (stiffer than the center diff by rights but i wanna try it like it is) and i don't have 50k so I'm gonna give 100k a razz. 50wt shock oil. any tips and tricks? (Ive got my hop-up list already worked out so that's OK [;)] RPM axle carriers etc) gonna try this fuel from massive mods, called the HB444 blend, many people at my club run it and i like it's features as it isn't too powerful (kinda the wrong word) but has really good lubrication blends in it (an oil that works when it's cold, oil for when it's normal and one more that works when it overheats so you don't kill a BB) so uhh..yeah...any tips?

the most fun ive ever had is when that looser came doen to the skate park where i was bashing[:D] he got out his cheapy nitro truck, i slowed down at this point with the bashing (rustler on 3s). he chatted with me telling how they run on "nos" (LOL) and how much better nitro was and all kinds of false statements. after about 15 mins the truck spluttered to life and i mean spluttered!!. it was running WAYYYY rich!! so after he had warmed it up i asked for a look under the body, gave hte HSN a little turn and looked at his face as the thing doubled it's speed[:D] later on i asked for a drag race and he was going on about how it was pointless and how he wou;d win etc etc. i said that i just wanted to see the difference. line up...GO nitro takes off...i gave rustler half throttle and pull even with him...then mash it and flatten him[:D][:D][:D][:D] sooooooo FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he got all pissed and went home afterwards. but i like nitro too...i started a LST2 for the first time the other day with the spin-start, man that felt good[;)] but electric still p00ns.

for the price, tuning low cogging, faster and more relaible and better customer service get a mamba max. novak are a little touchy on their Customer service. novak have over-rated amps on their ESC's sencored is slower and IMO not worth it as it's only better than sencorless at .001mph driving!! heard of way more novaks going pop than mambas. the mamba is bloomin nerarly un-killable[:D] even though it's non sencored it has bugger all cogging[:D] mamba has LOADS more tuning options less resistance will take 3s with out a sweat faster more powerful real amp ratings

handeling changes i made... proline 2.2 M3 edge fronts proline 2.2 M3 gladiators mamba max spektrum servo (faster reaction time) spektrum radio (faster and loads better than that crap traxxas one. ive owned 2 traxxas radios but never turned one one yet!!, just sold em') U-bec (to keep temps down and speed up servo reation time) aftermarket slash tuned spring set!! these are multi-rate springs, i use the hardest ones on thew rear (are still quite soft when not compressed fully, they get harder as u increase the compression) and soft ones on the front, that are super soft most of the time and when at full compression that harden up just enough. 80wt single hole big bore shocks in rear 60wt 2 hole powerline shocks with traxxas big bore shock shafts (big bores are the same as powerlines) and a lot of tuning here and there... shaun

RE: Traxxas or Crapxas (lol?)
well traxxas goes like this... pros... awsome CS the revo is a pretty inovative truck and handels VERY well lots of parts support waterproof electrics after the 3905 e-maxx brushless RTR trucks/ST/buggy avaliable. cons... not much inovation went into the rustler/pede/bandit as they are pretty much drag vehicles, i mean yes they are great but they lack a few mod cons like the nitro cars did. some parts are VERY badly weak and will not survive many crashes at all (pede castor blocks, e-maxx bulkheads, revo carriers) they are focused on speed and not handeling as such all of thier cars are 1/10 scale when REALLY the revo 3.3 shuld be classed as a 1/8th. so they are good and bad... losi and team associated IMO are the main compeditors, losi are race/basher orientated but do not build their trannys in the electrics as strong as traxxas did with pede/bandit/rustler and the revo and e-maxx. but losi cars handel loads better!! team associated make REAL race vehicles and are not usually associated with bashing. they handel GREAT and are resonably tough too. so do i like traxxas?? YES! but do i like some of the crap traxxas makes?? NO! (eg the VXL esc (novak??)) shaun

i had loads of fin with some 7 cell 4500mah cells from www.cheapbatterypacks.com. really great!! 20 min runtimes and fast enough to keep you entertained!! if you are looking for more punch later on you could step up to a 2s lipo. but i recomend getting a slash, then rather than screwing around with the crappy VXL ESC you would go out and buy a mamba max ESC and a velineon motor. and if u get a slash then there is no need to worry about waterproofness IF YOU LEAVE IT STOCK!!. the slash is harder to wheelie though and the rustler will wheelie with 7 cell 4500mah nimh's. i recomend lipo's but for some it's too expensive[;)]

RE: What is the purpose of three wires on a brushless motor??
ORIGINAL: drumin_nut I'm going to wander slightly on a tangent and ask if some type of 'converter / adapter' exists to allow a brushless motor to run on a brushed ESC? I believe I have seen a small circuit board that is wired between the ESC and the motor in airplane applications. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that how the Losi micro BL motors work? The factory brushed ESC is used in conjunction with a secondary module that takes the power of the two ESC motor wires, utilizes some electronic wizardry and sends out phased electric pulses to power a brushless motor. I was curious if this type of technology exists for 1/10 applications. Any thoughts?
no there isnt a module...in hte losi micro's u have to replace the reciver/ESC combo thing with a normal micro reciver and a very small brushless ESC. there is no converter avalible that i know of and it's pretty pointless if there was. as you need a brain board and a power board to supply the power to each phase at the right time. shaun
ORIGINAL: Access Once the rotor is moving, it can use the back-EMF sensing to know its position.
yep that's right access no jet that's not right[&:] any of the wires provide a little infomation back to the ESC (almost like it's generating power) when that wire ISNT being used as a power wire during the cycle. the ESC itself has a brain board that usually operates on 6v and that tells the power board what to do, when to do it and when it's too hot and shut down. basicly. shaun

RE: What is the purpose of three wires on a brushless motor??
like access said... no there isnt a sencor wire like chris was going on about... there are 3 phases. if you want to understand then read on... the ESC's job is to compute all of the math to time the power pulses to each winding in the motor. by giving it different combinations to each wire it can tell the motor which way to move... if you were to apply power directly to wire A and B then the motor will jump to a posission and stay there, then change the combination and the motor will turn to the next posission in the line, switch combinations and the motor will change again. there are 3 forward combinations i belive and 3 reverse combinations. they are in a triangle configeration (basicly) and the rotor will be pushed around from each magnetic field as it turns on and then off again. a brushed motor does the same...but it's combinations are controlled by the comutator which turn on a coil just ahead of where the rotor is at that point in time. a brushless ESC is pretty cool really... it has to GUESS what start up algorithim to use then turn on phase AB then AC then BC repeat, as you increase the throttle it needs to advance the timing and power accordingly. make sence..this is only a basic explanation here and it gets a lot worse with the understanding on the Y and D winds then there's the rotor's "poles" and slotted stators etc etc[:@] shaun
