RE: A new rocketeer
I love anything Red Max like lol! Memories from my childhood, think I had one when I was ten. This is my son's Minni Mag done in a similar theme.
ORIGINAL: k_caller Why dont you just slap in a 2.4 module? No other antenne needed.
The TM-14 is the 2.4 module for my MZ-14. I was looking for the short coax antenna. Found one and it's on it's way.

TM-14/MZ-14 problem
Tried the Futaba support forum but got no answer. Here's what I posted I accidentally ripped out my antenna front the back of my MZ14 radio. I took the TM14 apart and re soldered the ground and antenna back but not sure if I really trust it. Did a range check and got about 80 paces, but still I'd rather install a new antenna. Can it be purchased separately or to you have to buy the whole TM14 module? Anyhow, the part number is HSP79469 and people in the past have purchased them. Problem is now Hobby Services says FFC regulations prevents them from selling the part and it needs to be sent for service. This radio is used for commercial use so I really can't afford the time to send it in for service. Any source to buy this part still available? Thanks!

Thanks Gabe, I think we must be on the same wavelength lol! That's exactly what I built except I mounted a Sony Nex5n to the undercarriage.

Charging 14mz without 120v
I will be using my 14mz Futaba for AP work in remote locations. My FPV box has a charger which I can use (powered by 30amp/h lipo and 60w solar panel). Question is, the LiIon two cell battery for the radio doesn't have any balance taps, just a + and -. I noticed that my FPV goggle batteries also have no tap but have a balancing circuit built into the pack. Would this be the same for the Futaba batteries? TIA!

RE: MZ14 manual
Still can't DL any manuals. I've been trying to get the manuals for numerous S-Bus gear as well as the MZ14. I've tried Windows XP on one computer, Windows 7 on another (Internet explorer) ,FireFox and Safari on three different Macs. Tried both just clicking to open the pdf and right click to save file. Just times out.

Strange. I tried on my Macs and PC with no luck. Says preparing to down load and then nothing. This goes for both the manual and the update pdf. Anyone else having trouble?

MZ14 manual
I purchased one of the first MZ14's way back and was wondering if I could get the latest manual. I've tried to down load it but with no success. Is it an updated document? I've noticed even trying to down load the pdf's for updates doesn't even work. Any link to current information? Or do I have to wait until I can get my hands on the new MZ18 lol (can't wait)!

RE: Help, Multicopter KIT for Stabilized Video
I works quite well, but I'm open to suggestions for something smaller and lighter. So far I've had no luck, looks like the only solution for HDMI. It would be fine on something like a Cinestar 8.

RE: Help, Multicopter KIT for Stabilized Video
Just putting it all together, received the order yesterday. Oh, forget needing 8 channels for a 3 axis mount. A little too much sleep deprivation lol. The roll axis doesn't require a channel as it would be controlled by the gyro function from the controller.

RE: Help, Multicopter KIT for Stabilized Video
7 channels would be just fine. Given it will be about $10K for the Cinestar by the time you get it in the air, upgrading radios later will seem minor lol! You'll have 4 channels for the multi, pitch, roll, yaw and throttle. Which leaves you with 2 more channels for your camera mount and one for shutter actuation. An 8th channel would allow you to use a 3 axis camera mount though. On second thought, better go with the 8.

RE: Help, Multicopter KIT for Stabilized Video
You can get by with with a cheap 6 channel radio, you don't need more for a multicopter. I fly jets and giant scale which can eat up channels in a hurry. The jet in my avitar uses all 14 and I still need servo splitter/syncro units to make it all work. If I wasn't dedicated to Futaba I'd seriously look at Spectrum as the price is way cheaper especially considering some of their new radio include telemetry.

RE: Help, Multicopter KIT for Stabilized Video
The batteries were from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Y6S58A/ref=oh_o05_s00_i00_details As for a lower specked Yellow Jacket receiver, I'm pretty sure there isn't one. You can find other diversity receivers for less money like the one from Hobbyking. As for the mount, it's really up to you to make what you need. The big high end mounts won't work on a smaller rig. But with some extra carbon fibre and creative ideas for vibration isolation, it's possible to get rid of the vibrations. With counter rotating props that are well balanced, it shouldn't be much of a problem though. For control I'm using a Futaba 14mz, but I've got a 18 on order. Won't be available until January I though.

RE: Help, Multicopter KIT for Stabilized Video
The S-Bus Receiver I'm using is the 3 channel version. It can handle as many channels are you have on your transmitter which I have 14. This particular receiver has a s-bus port and 3 physical port for three channels. The s-bus cable connects to the WooKong controller, without s-bus you'd have 8 separate cables. Makes for a clearer install. From the WooKong unit, all you speed control and camera mount servos plug in. You can down load the WooKong manual to check out the setup in detail. Don't go to the WooKong M mini site though, DL from DJI's main web site. You found the Yellow Jacket and Stinger TxRx setup, it's a bit overkill lol. The Hobby King displays V, power consumed, heading, distance to home, altitude, airspeed....and a bunch of other stuff I don't need. I just need voltage and current consumed. As for the camera mount: http://shop.quadrocopter.us/MK-HiSight-III-Bridge_p_107.html The one you're looking at is too small for the mid sized cameras. The Thundertiger G6 are sixth generation LiPo batteries for the multicopter. As for a camera I'm using a Sony NEX5n. I can't believe I bought a Sony lol! But it's light and the IQ is good.

RE: Help, Multicopter KIT for Stabilized Video
Here's a list so far: Scarab Carbon (payload would include mount) S-Bus Futaba receiver yellow Jacket 5.8 Pro Diversity receiver Mondo Stinger 5.8 AVD Transmitter Hobby King OSD DJI WooKong M flight system Bridge carbon camera mount Thundertiger G6 4s 3000 custom board to convert HDMI to analog for the Stinger Transmitter. The Sony only outputs to HDMI. Meder 4mm micro reed switches soldered under the top cover of the Sony to trigger the body. No physical contact, just a small electromagnet. My idea, see how that works out lol. That's about it. As for size, I had planned on a small multicopter and a large unit from the start. A lot of situations it makes more sense to use the smaller copter. When you need to shoot with something like a Red, then pull out the big rig. Plus you always have a smaller investment risk if you just wont to throw it around!

RE: Help, Multicopter KIT for Stabilized Video
Max lift capacity is 1.8kg. http://www.multiwiicopter.com/products/carbon-scarab-ysiixkopta-12mm-airframe-y6-hexcopter-multiwii Pretty economical way to get started, I've spent twice the money on just the video downlink! Check MK for larger airframes and accessories like video, telemetry and such: http://shop.quadrocopter.us/ As for footage, I'm just finishing the Scarab build now. Waiting for the video gear from Quadrocopter, should be here Monday. I'll post something next week if all goes well. Cheers

Don't hold your breath on this forum lol! I asked and it fell on deaf ears. It's like posting on the rocketry forum here, no activity. I went here and they set me up: http://www.aplanding.com/forums/ Good Friendly bunch. Currently I'm running a Scarab YSiiX with WooKong control and a NEX5n, moving up to a Cine8 for my larger cameras. Good luck.

Looking for a high power flashing strobe. I presume some of the new led systems may even exceed what a xenon strobe can do. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

PARIS or DJI control units?
Looking for a stabilization system for my YSiiX platform. The PARIS - Quad/Tri Sirius®600MP looks like a pretty good deal for the price. The DJI WooKong Multi-Rotor stab controller looks like a better unit for photography but at a steeper price. As it's been said many times, you get what you pay for. Any comments on the two systems? Need some help as I'd like to order today lol!

Help a newbie!
I'm a long time rc pilot, rc jets, giant scale and even fly a TRex 600. I'm also a professional photographer for a good decade. But arial photography from an rc point of view is totally new to me. I usually hook up my Kenlab gyro and jump in the JetRanger. So currently I'm building up a Scarab YSiixKopta and was looking for some advice. Two things that come to mind. One would be a good camera mount with active stabilization. As for the camera body, it doesn't really matter as I'll just buy what's required. I don't expect the Scarab to be able to lift my D3x or D3s Nikons lol! The other is some form of flight automation. I've seen good helicopter pilots get into trouble at high altitude and windy conditions. Getting back to the ground is harder than you'd think when you're a speck in the sky. I've read about flight systems that will auto land, but have no product knowledge what so ever. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Canadian Bomarc
After my Madcow Bomarc went in ballistic, I decided to rebuild it in Canadian colors. Now a coat of clear, glue the ramjets on and it's ready to fly. I like the white scheme better than original black.

RE: Kit bashing...
HoJo update. Launch lugs, spin motors and band are finished. Man, the spin motors were a pain to make. Madcow give you 1/4 square cut ply, not quite scale. Note the scale band (very sport scale) has the altimeter holes within it. Great place to put the avionics bay. Now to spray some white and black paint.
