RE: General Hobby or Hobby4less, experiences?
Phone numbers are the same so they are one company with two names. If you don't trust one don't trust the other.

RE: Leaving rc universe
I had a whole thread removed by RCKen for a misunderstanding. He accused me of being disrespectful to another member when I asked if an electric motor was the right size and could be used. I refigured some numbers regarding the electric motor wattage and simply asked "Are these numbers better?" because I do not understand wattage figures. But somehow Ken saw that as being disrespectful and mean to the member and picking an argument. Whatever!!!

RE: Best Material for Small Foam Repair?
Not sure but I would say steal a small piece of foam from a soda cooler or similar, squeeze it in place, glue in place with foam-safe CA, and sand smooth.

RE: What kit is this???
Thank you for that info. From what it says [link=http://www.hobby-lobby.com/brushless_axi2826.htm]HERE[/link] the Axi Gold Line 2826/12 motor is a good replacement for a glow .40-.46, so will it be ok? For starters what I would like to know is . . . What size wheels does the kit call for? Where is the CG measured at? Aren't there supposed to be shear webs at the forward spars and possibly at the trailing edge sheeting? I would like to possibly have found the plans to build a wing with ailerons at a later time. And how good of a trainer does this make? I know it won't have the self-correcting attributes that the box trainers have, but does it fly nice and slow?

RE: What kit is this???
Additional details: Wingspan 54", fuselage length 36 1/2", bolt-on wing, taildragger. Kit built, not an ARF.

What kit is this???
I was given a semi-completed plane that I would like to finish as an electric. I am not sure who the maker is but I do know it is an Air Scout, purchased by this guy in early 2000 I believe. I can not find any info on it as it has since been out of production for many years. I have an Axi Gold Line 2826/12 motor, Jeti Advance 40 plus (40amp) speed controller, and E1280 prop I would like to use. #1 Could someone confirm the model for me and possibly find a site or preferably a manual download? #2 Please tell me that the motor and speed controller are not too big for it as I do not want to spend the $100-$200 for a new power package. Thank you

RE: Great Planes Super Sportster 60 Kit - First Timer
Hope you didn't glue the landing gear rails and blocks in yet . . . This is based on the Great Planes Super Sportster 40 manual (I believe the 60 size is exactly the same). On page 8, you were to laminate wing ribs W-2 and W-3 with doublers LGD. These doublers are to hold the landing gear rails into the cutouts formed in step D2.. Page 8, step D2 you are to cut out the appropriate notch into each W2 and W3 ribs based on whether you wanted tricycle gear or tail dragger, there are separate notches to cut out for each version. The landing gear rails are glued into these notches. The landing gear rails protrude enough for sheeting to be added later. On page 10 of the manual, step D2 you glue the landing gear rails into the slots, then add the grooved landing gear blocks in position on the inside (bottoms) of the rails and against rib W-2. Then you drill the holes to accept the landing gears. Hope this helps.
ORIGINAL: CGRetired Hey, post what you want. If you have the experience with the Cub to back up what you post, then go for it. CGr.
I do not have a full-size cub to back up what I state as I was recommended not to get one as it wasn't right as a trainer. I now wish I had gotten one as I really love the looks of them. But I do have a Schoolyard 1/2A scale cub that I converted to electric, but was afraid to fly as it came out real nice!!!

OK then, I retract my post. When I posted the same question years ago I was told the same thing that I typed, THAT CUBS ARE NOT FOR TRAINERS OR BEGINNERS. Things certainly change thru the years.

RE: lt 40 kadet????
You will need the control horns, pushrods, and clevises. Any standard size will do. If it is not covered yet you will need a good film covering, heatgun, iron, etc etc. A .46 size engine would be perfect, with any standard .40-.46 size nylon mount, with a 10 -12 oz tank and I love the Futaba radio systems. Any standard size servo will work. towerhobbies is a great place to get everything you need, I love'em

RE: Silk application
ORIGINAL: jessiej
ORIGINAL: Rubbernecker quote: ORIGINAL: jessiej Has anyone posting in this thread tried the ''meniscus method'' of dope application to silk? It works quite well with a bit of practice. jess Yes. The Jr Falcon is Polyspan which someone mentioned and the Buster is silk and dope. Both have KlassKote Paint. John
Both the models look great! I didn't know that method would work with KlassKote. I will give it a try. jess
Could someone explain this method to me? Thank you

RE: Silk application
Thank you for your responses. I think I will stick to the silkspan and dope finish. What paint would you recommend? And what can I use after butyrate dope to seal and fuelproof the finish, and stop the constant shrinking caused by the dope? Or could I use something instead of butyrate dope to apply the silkspan?

Silk application
If I cover my PT20 with silk from a fabric store and use dope ONLY around the edges to apply it, can I later use my iron to shrink it without any affects from the dope? If I am lucky enough to find silk in the colors I want all I should need to do is apply it as mentioned above, then coat with a few coats of butyrate dope to fuelproof it. RIGHT??? Or would it be alot easier to use stix-it and an iron, then few coats of butyrate dope to fuelproof? I prefer the dope method because the dope would hold it in place better as you iron it taute. IF you CAN iron over dope.

RE: Decals won't stick, please help!!!
Thank you Gray Beard for that info. The kits were purchased on ebay so there is no way to know how old the kits are, so that is a possibility. I used a glue stick to apply them and it worked beautifully, just gotta make sure they go exactly where you want them before you press it down. P.S: Welcome back Gray Beard . . . great to hear about your successful heart surgery, get well quick . . . my prayers for a speedy recovery. RCKen, before they even had a chance to fully cure they came right off, wouldn't stick on long enough to cure.

Decals won't stick, please help!!!
I am completing my free-flight model but the decals won't stick. They are the wet and stick type. I follow the directions using warm water and letting them soak for 10 seconds then waiting 60 seconds before sliding them in place. Just to have them slide right off when dry. My question is can I stick them on with instant glue (CA)? The model is the basic stick and tissue Guillows kit.

RE: Status update on those winter projects.
Got a PT-20 framed up and ready for covering. Going to cover with silkspan and dope, so gotta wait until spring to start that. Have no garage so have to do it outdoors. Going to power it with a Thunder Tiger .25 Also have a Sterling Piper Cub Super Cruiser that I converted from free-flight to electric, that I also plan on covering with silkspan and dope.
