RE: New boomer?
I did just what cyphur said, Put it together on the alignment pins, and without the wing tube( spar) Cyphur is almost correct on flight, just a little over half a lap, just began the inbound turn..lol My replacement Elan, sorry to say, caught the top of a tall tree that sprang from the ground and jumped into my flight path just last week. it is no more. Ain't this hobby fun. Shepp

Congratulations my Friend.. Of course this means we will have to look at more of those "boring" magazine photos. LOL And just when they finally quit publishing photos of his F-16. Word is he will have the F-86 at super jets in a couple of weeks. Shep

RE: Any Jet Pilots near Clarksville TN
David , sounds like a good idea, it doesn't take much to get us together to fly. LOL BTW, we are going to Bowling Green Monday , why don't you join us. We will set up a build night when Julian gets in and get him fixed up. I had a bunch of guys at the house last night working on Benny's Shok Jet, Andy's F-15 and Randy's shok. Good time you should have been there Shepp

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Charlie. The 3 1/2inch wheels might be a little tight, I like the wheels to be loose in the wells. However if they are little tight then you can always grind 1/8" off of them. Easily done if you have access to a lathe and a Dremel. I usually have to dress the inarco tires from time to time, due to my heavy braking, and they true right up. Shepp

RE: Jets Over Kentucky Week 2012 /
Thanks Lewis and crew for a great Rally. The folks from Nashville had a great time and wish to express our appreciation for your hospitality . Everyone was great and the food both nights was fantastic. Of course, we"ll be back. I know the rain was a "bummer" for some but was greatly needed. I found it really interesting that at least once we had full flight stations and 12 in line waiting to fly. That has got to be some kind of record. Another high point for me was meeting Alan and Trish Cardash. What great people. For the folks that have only talked to Trish on the phone , trust me, she is just as charming in person as she is on the phone. Again great job everyone and Thanks for putting on what really is " The Grandest Jet Event in the Country" Glenn Sheppard One of the Nashville guys.

RE: LiFe or Lipo with regulator??
Chris brings up an good point. There does seem to be some confusion , at least in my case, about the difference between the "LiFe'' batteries and the "A123" sytems batteries. My understanding is the A123 company developed the lithum ion technology and then marketed them as "A123" a trade name. This may or may not be true. So confused as I am , it's off to Google . From" A123 Systems" website is this quote " A123’s products are built using our breakthrough Nanophosphate® chemistry, a proprietary form of lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4)" This information helps me a little but still does not completely clear up the confusion. The batteries I use are the flat pack LiFe that Hobbico markets, available from my LHS. I believe the "Real" A123 are only available in cylinders. So CHris you are probably right. We can continue the discussion when we next meet. Looking forward to KY jets. Hope to see you there Glenn

Dual LiFe batteries with JR. power safe recievers. On all Turbine powered models except my Hawk. It has dual LiPo with regulators and power safe rcvrs. I prefer the LiFe setup
