RE: Name This 3D Foamie and get a free Kit!
I flew The Revoh at the Hot Springs Extreme Aerobatic Club Fly In. I can tell you all that it is the best flying foamie 3D Plane I have flown. When Steve says it locks into a elevator he means it. It will do nice rolling circles, harriers, rolling harrier circles Snaps rolls Etc. It does really great Walls and Parachutes. Anybody considering buying one when they are available do not hesitate to buy it you will like it. It hovers and torque rolls Great. All of the foamies I have flow had alot of tail twist in them. I do not know if it is how he puts them together or design or both but I could not see much twist in it. Steve Hill

RE: any EDF Jets that can be hand launched?
Here are a couple of links first is to FanTastic Models They have a Mig 15 and A F86 Sabre both are designed around the GWS EDF50 Fan unit. They fly on the stock motor. The second link will take you to Conversion Motor Works which is making Brushless CD-Rom motor conversions for the EDF50 Fan unit. The performance of the motors is over twice the power of the EDF50 stock motor Check them out. RE: Troy Built Models Carbon Fiber Accesories quality?
I have never had a problem out of the gear Troybuilt sells. The only failure has been due to landings that would of flattened out aluminum gear. Some people always say they made a nice smooth landings and then the gear just delaminated. They also forget to tell you what the previous landings were like. Also Mark could you please email me or PM me on here as I have a ZN Line Extra 330 to build and I would like to ask you some questions because there is no real instructions with the kits. Thanks Steve

I would be careful with the Canisters in this Plane. I know of 1 which was destroyed due to spar failure from the heat of the cans on the spars. So shielding the spars and having plenty of cooling is a must. Steve

RE: bla bla bla
Here is my thought get yourself a piece of the 1/8inch luan door skin, cut to a suitable size as in what your abilities let you hover over. Cut some pieces of 2x4 and put on the ends cover it with some carpet or such an you have a tail touching table. it is not the ground and the rule says the ground. This will leave you 3 1/2 inches or so above the ground and will let the door skin flex some so it is not as hard on the rudder. I am not going to let them stop the fun. Again before people reply I have read the rule and this is not against the rules remember there is always a way around the rules and I will find it. Steve

RE: Towing a Trailer
I would deffinately get the trailer brakes it is really nice to have especially depending on the weather, Traffic and road conditions. When people see you have a trailer or not they can pull out infront of you or whip over in traffic and the traffic is coming to a halt and the brakes can be a real life saver and also they help take some of the strain off of your tow vehicle brakes. Also do not forget about the drag so remember to get a v nose or the cap for wind deflection it will help even if you are using a blazer to tow it with. Steve

RE: Life of servos, gears in 35%
I have not had Hitec charge to replace any gears in the 5945 servos. As to your question I do not think that the 5645 is an acceptable servo for a 35% airplane. This might be why you are getting the slop so quickly, also what kinds of throw are you using and are you doing alot of 3d with extreme throws. This will also cause the servos to wear alot quicker it is harder on the servos with extreme throws. I personally use 2 Hitec 5945 servos on each aileron of a 35% plane. Steve

RE: Quique's Yak - Where's it from?
The Yakstra as I call it because if you have seen pictures of the real YAK 54 is more of a midwing shoulderwing airplane. Quiques airplane has a very low wing like an extra hence the name I have given it. The plane was built by Wayne Ullery for him and was designed by Quique and Wayne. At the TOC on his back up plane you could see where they had cut the counterbalances and made other mods to it before building the second plane. On some other thread or place, I read that 3w would be selling the 40% or so size, and somebody else would be producing some smaller versions. It did not say who would be producing them, it also did not say if they would be kits arfs, arcs, or what. This is second hand info at best on who will be producing what. Steve Hill

Advantage of 2 receivers?
I will add to the set up that I am using a choke servo so I put it on the opposite reciever as the throttle and either way, you have a way of controlling the engine. You can kill it or you have throttle no getting stuck at a speed that is in between flying and stalling. Steve

Advantage of 2 receivers?
The main reason I use dual receiver's in my 35% planes and up is that I have landed a Plane with 2 receiver's in it with only 1 working saved a 3500 dollar airplane for the cost of an extra receiver. So I can not see not spending the money on it for extra security just in case something happens. Secondly as Doug says it makes it easier to hook things up without so many Y connections. Steve Hill

good imac plane?
I can say I would not recommend the Great Planes Extra a flying buddy has one and I have flown it I do not like the way it flies and he does not either. It also comes out heavy for the size of the plane unless you take steps to lighten it during building. I can not comment on the Lanier I have no experience with it. I would recommend the Columbo Anderson Extra check out www.planesplus.com for sizes and pricing they have kits and arcs.

3W 75, 85 B2, or BME 102/105 for the H9 Sukhoi??
What I am simply saying is that the 110 is an untested engine as far as the average production motor. I do not believe prototypes tell the whole story on how a production motor is going to perform. As you say I am not bashing means I should not say anything at all, means that you should not have been saying anything about the motor as well since you have just received the motor and have been praising and hyping a motor you have not run. so you would have thought better of me than that. what do you think I would think about you. I have recommended the BME motors to people also the DA and 3W they are all good motors but you insist on promoting and pushing BME as the it best motor as in the 110 and you just got the motor and have not even flown them. So again how can you comment and brag about them yet. Think about that and what you have said, also I can not believe you have torn apart a brand new motor, what were you thinking or again ????. Also Kris if you would like to discuss this with me please PM me as this thread is not the place for the replies, as it is not on topic with the thread. Steve

Towing a Trailer
Hubb you will not have any trouble with the van towing the smaller trailer we have had no issues with the structure of how the mini van is built. I will second the need for brakes I have them on the 6 x 14 but the 5 x 8 does not as we got the smaller trailer second hand. I alos forgot to mention I would go with either a V nose trailer or one with the Aero Cap front on the trailer. The cap is what we have on the 6 x 14 and I think it makes a big difference, but I wish it was a V nose trailer. I would also recommend the torsion suspension over the leaf spring type. IMHO it rides better than the leafsprings. Steve Hill

Towing a Trailer
Hubb My brother and I Have a 6 x 14 wells cargo we used to haul with his plymouth Grand voyager with the 3.3 6 cylinder it pulled it ok but after we kept setting it up adding racks and such it got too heavy for the van. we also have a 5 x 8 trailer the van will tow it just fine no problems the pick up will not pull it as well. I have a ford ranger with a 4 cylinder and it tows it but I would not want to make long hauls with it. I bought a Dodge Ram Quad Cab to haul the big trailer no problems, But if I were you I would stick to a 5 x 8 or mabey a 5 x 10 at the most. Steve Hill

Ill second what johnVH said save and get the DA or I would also recommend a 3W or BME but the ZDZ will not have enough power for the edge. You can not go wrong with one of the good 100 class twins. Ps my ZDZ 80 shakes quite a bit. Steve Hill

3W 75, 85 B2, or BME 102/105 for the H9 Sukhoi??
To start of with of your choices you would be better off with one of the BME motors of your choices to choose from. As for the 110 extreme you are taking a chance if you buy this motor at this time and again I am not bashing the motors but you have a untested production motor just coming out so you would be testing so to speak. The prototype motors testing and use have nothing to do with real world day to day use of the motor by your average modelers. IMHO I would definitely stick with a twin for this plane be it a BME, DA or a 3W they all will be good motors still questioning the 110 BME though I hope it is as good and reliable as the old. My whole reply will get alot of flack but I am a firm believer in seeing the results and figures and all related to the 110 in person, IMO Kris your numbers are not to be believed unless seen in person, so when you start posting #s ?????. Now on to the rest of this B you now what also a friend here has the Suk and he had to add lead to the nose with a ZDZ 80 in it the others I have seen with the ZDZ also needed lead in the nose. Hey Kris You said this throws out the BME engines being too light, well you have canisters for the added weight. You are kind of misleading people here you did not really mention it you just said canisters, if you had to move everything back to get the balance then you have more weight in the front in having the cans. So you get a lighter motor and add cans to bring the weight back up. This must be because the engine in your plane with the cans is heavier than a DA or 3W with out cans . This is assuming you are referring to your FC 2.6 meter. My FC 2.6 with a DA and everything in stock locations balances very good for IMAC but is to far forward for 3D for me. Now factor in an even lighter motor and you have to move stuff back further or add nose weight. As for cans forget the noise issues I am tired of hearing about it from everybody if you have noise issues deal with it, but I do not see all of the overly loud warbird guys getting cans and such to quiet down the planes. The cans are a more complicated item to install in the plane depending on the plane, provisions to mount cutouts for exhaust exits air inlets and so on also trying to isolate the heat from the inside of the plane to protect the radio gear. The cans make for a more difficult installation, chime in here Dick I know you will say it is easier than you think, but it is not for everybody, cans seem like a major pain in the but as we are working on a 3w 40% extra now, get this installing a DA 150 in it with cans, I guess DA and 3W are compatible. This would make an interesting topic. Also Kris I guess since the new engine is lighter you will be moving the stuff forward again for balance. So here we go again and again I am not badmouthing the BME I like the older motors the new one is yet to be proven in the real world and if it does not turn more than a DA or just turns the same I will be real disappointed in it as it has 10 more ccs than the DA which makes it a bigger motor than the DA, yes it is lighter but ?????? what are you gaining and yes Keith a lighter airplane is better as we both know from the 35% extra 260 my brother and I have with the ZDZ 80 weighing 19 pounds 11 ounces and the bme 100 powered one that weighs 20 pounds 10 ounces, just think what the ZDZ plane would weigh with the 110 in it. Yes I am still in doubt as to how the motor will perform in everyday use from production motors. I want to see how one holds up to some real hard 3D flying as you have seen in person what we put the planes through. SO Flames will be on I guess here we go. Steve Hill

Yes the planes are fixable I have one flying that has been crashed and fuse has been cracked at where the wings attach. Repair is easier than you think. It has also had a cracked open wing and other spots on the wing. It all depends on your abilities to work with the materials. Steve Hill
