Tornado EPX Pro
Hello all. I have a Tornado EPX Pro, brushless with an ezrun s-10 rtr fan cooled esc which I think is there latest release of this. I get a flashing green light alot, instead of movement, everytime after going from reverse to forward. If I backup then go straight to forward it will do it, but of course it will strip the spur gear sometime. If I reverse then let it stop rolling and then go to forward, the light on the esc just flashes, if I hit the trigger 6 or 7 times, it might start to move forward but not always, any ideas?

RE: Hobbywing ESC
Thanks for the suggestions but I must be explaining it wrong. There was 2 blobs of silicone when I opened it. One covers the power solder points with the black and red wires being soldered under it. The second blob of silicone covered the white wire and where it was soldered to. The white wire broke away and I have already removed the blob and I know the area within 1 cm or 1/2" but didn't want to sway someones suggestions by boxing it or anything. I heard from Hobbywing last night and they said they would get back to me, still waiting, so I'll see, thanks again

RE: Hobbywing ESC
Yup that was the plan and I now plan to cut and shorten then solder with tube over for the power wires but I need to get the white (sensor) reattached for the throttle, its just floating in the pic and yes I am looking at the black, thats the power cables which still work because the esc powers up still but... yes the hole in the esc for the wires to come out will be a bit bigger.

Hobbywing ESC
hello all I'm in need of help. I have a buggy with a Hobbywing xerun 80A that died. I found channel 2 (throttle) wire was pinched between the case and the vibration took its toll, which really sucks because the car is 3 days old :( I opened it and found the wire solder points are hidden under white silicone blobs about 1/2" or 1 cm in diameter. I tried to remove the silcone to see the solder point on the single white sensor wire and of course the wire pulled away from the boeard before the silcone came free. I have contacted Hobbywing through email at 3 different address there and still no replies. I have contacted the distributor and am waiting a reply there also. Does anyone have a diagram, schematic or damb good guess. I have studied this under magnifying glass for hours now and search, please someone point me to an answer. here is a pic of the board with the glob still covering power and removed where white goes. Circuit Board thanks in advance, Dennis

RE: Tornado BB Upgrade.
Figured it out. The holes are drilled in different locations on stub axle and CV upgrade making the distance between the bearings different, causing the wheel to bind and be to tight to turn. The material between the bearings on the hub (front anyways), needs to be drilled out to 3/8" allowing the axle from the CV to slide in further. It binds on the plastic. Pictures say a thousand words. Stubby axle and CV axle heres where it needs to be drilled, didn't try rear but would be willing to bet some bucks. I know, don't quit my job to take pics lol. hub

RE: Help starting Hurricane XTR!
hey all, now don't laugh... I have a sh28 in a cane xtr, month and half old at most, 15 tanks through it.... ok the LSN has to be closed tight. Go ahead and laugh now. I forget but think the HSN is 2 7/8 but no BS, the LSN is closed tight. Now I compared the lsn visually to a new, never started needle from a sh21, and they were identical, I swapped them and same thing, has to be closed. When it is closed, it idles beauty, take off is sluggish and if it sits to long will die from flooding. Mid and top is great. I think the jet or carb is f_____. LuD my two cents, try leaning it out a bit. Do the pinch test, get it runnin, to temp, let it idle for a sec and pinch the fuel line close to the input as possible till dies. Speeds up for awhile, lean it. Dies instantly, richen it, speeds for second then dies, go for a rip. I Got a new carb coming Thursday to swap it with, stay tuned and will let you's know, if you care.

Tornado BB Upgrade.
Hey, has anyone had a problem installing the CV's from the upgrade kit or the CV's part number 166015 on the Tornado BB. The hole for the pin is to close, it makes it drag on the bearing and tight to spin the wheel. If I hold beside a stub axle there's a good 3 or 4 mm difference on mine.

RE: Hurricane XTR
Closed lsn means no run any other time to me. Does anyone else with a Hurricane have this? How about try closing yours, just count where you started from. I think it has a short needle so it can't "close", can't be over leaned out if it can't close, I can't think of another explanation. Its now on its 12th tank and runnin good, closed lsn, 2 3/4 hsn, a little more snap in the bottom end would be nice though.

RE: Hurricane XTR
hello and thanks for trying. The lsn is closed tight now and its running like a good thing, still smokes like crazy on take off and gets cooler when sitting there idling and the rev speeds up then dies when pinching the fuel inlet line which means its running rich. I have never seen that before and I have been tuning engines for 15 years, its one I sold so when its time to do some engine work I'll tear the carb apart and have a look, thanks for the reply.

Hurricane XTR
Hello all, couple questions about the Hurricane XTR Buggy. First, is there some sort of restrictor in the carb. The manual says, after breakin, tighten or lean lower needle 1 1/2 turns, guessing it would be open at least 2 1/2 for the breakin. Its been 7 tanks through so its time. Mine turns in 3/4 then stops. When I go to start it, it does and idles with no problem, which if the lower needle is closed it shouldn't start at all, right? Second, the brakes, they will not stop it, definetly won't lock the wheels up and barely slow it down. I removed the springs on the linkage and put fuel line in its place to see if that would help and it did a little, but still not good. Third is a question more than anything, are people happy with the top end of the Hurricane, I have a OFNA ultra and it blows the body off the Hurricane without trying, thanks. Dennis

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
thanks for the ideas but thinking its not dirt, this buggy is brand new, only driven 200 feet on clean pavement at 1/4 to half throttle, the clutch was shiney in my hand. I think the arm is damaged where the ball makes contact but can't take arm out without destroying clutch, so guess I'll order one, then maybe destroy this and see if right, thanks again.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
No the grub screws were both there, actually looks like the bottom of shifting lever where balls rubs against got deformed, or at least doesn't look perfect. Does anyone know is the ball supposed to travel all the way through the clutch housing, eg: if shifting arm is out of housing will the ball go all the way through the channel? or does it stop short of falling out? I wouldn't mind replacing it if I got more then 100 feet driving, was kind of hoping a bad decision would be cause of my first replacment parts.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
hello, all. Got a Tornado BB, broke it in according to manual and it ran beauty right from first pull. Fourth tank was just idling around, running at 140 degrees, decided to open it just a bit. It shifted in 2nd and I backed out of it, di this a couple times. Third time or so I noticed a clicking sound when I was slowing down. Sped it up again and no shift... but it did click when slowing down. Insepected the Centrifugal clutch and noticed the arm moved outward, half the travel it should with no resistance. I tried turning allen in to tighten spring but it still had no resistance. Now I have had this a couple hours and I'm taking the transmission out to get a closer look at the clutch :(. It seems the spring is fine but the ball will not go all the way to the arm... Is this something that can be fixed? should I be looking at why the ball doesn't make contact or do I need a new clutch, already? Any helps really appreciated, thanks
