RE: LST keeps cracking fuel tanks on left side..
I`ll try and get pix in the next few days. All chassis screws are tight, I just stripped down the truck and replaced a bunch of cracked chassis parts from a bad crash -AND- installed a new tank.

LST keeps cracking fuel tanks on left side..
I`m on about my fourth fuel tank, they keep cracking on the left side, usually after flipping the truck from accellerating too hard or bombing a jump... Theres no way for anything to hit the tank so my only guess is chassis flex or something?? Even though it has the rubber grommets to add cushion? Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I know others have had the problem, but the search on this forum isnt turning anything up, even though I KNOW its here somewhere.. I can provide piccy`s if needed..

RE: stalls
Hey Nitrojimbo.. Lets try this question again, its VERY important for us to know, to be able to even think about helping you correctly.. Is the engine screaming like a formula 1 car when you tap the throttle with the wheels off the ground, making you wonder if the thing is gonna blow up?? If so, something in the driveline is slipping and the engine is running ok. Also, do you have a temperature gun/gauge?? What temp is the motor running at? IF, its slobbering rich like you said... engine will be boggy as hell, leaving all kinds of fuel on the ground from the exhaust... if you let it idle in one spot for 5-10 seconds and theres a huge wet spot, you are wayyy tooo rich, and the engine isnt producing any power... A slobbering rich engine, or a cold one sometimes for that matter, will give you a top speed of 2 mph.... Trust me, been there... and I`m still a noob myself... Stock break in settings are wayyyyy too rich, you need to lean the motor out on the high speed needle and the low speed needle 1/8 turn at a time to get your 30 mph or more... Others here are much better at tuning than myself, so if they want to jump in and explain, go right ahead... E.

RE: 23mm wheel adapter compatibility..
Thanks Dale, One last part to the question... Do I have to buy the bolt for the LST2 spindles separately??? I dont see it in my lst2 upgrade kit? inside of spindle is threaded, nothing on the outside... Time to go shoppin, and hopefully buyin. :) E.

23mm wheel adapter compatibility..
Ok, so I got some parts last year, finally got around to setting them up... some 23mm adapters and wheels/tires to go with... I knew these werent compatible with my stock lst spindles, so I got the lst2 upgrade kit figuring they would be compatible.. No dice... LST1 spindles fit thru holes, but lst 2 ones do not... I assume theres some sort of bolt that goes with the lst2 spindles that doesnt come with the upgrade kit since I dont have them and just opened a sealed box?? Wondering if I can just drill out the adapters I have, since they have the slot for the pin in the lst2 spindles... Thoughts? Ideas?? I`d give you a name to go with the adapters I have, but theres nothing on them, and packaging is long gone, but they are blue.. :)

RE: lst spring tune up
I`ll Try that Stra8jailbird.. Got it running to day first pull, ended the day 2 minutes later on a pair of concrete stairs that I clipped.. arghhh.. Now I have to find a shop that has all the parts I need so I can just pay 1 shipping charge, easier said than done.... I need b2257 b2201 b2151 and b2450 if anyone has any shops they`d like to recommend that stock all kinds of LST small parts... I can tell you that it still wasnt shifting into second though... I will try brake cleaner and see..

RE: I finally Broke something
Clipping a set of concrete stairs works well too... Did that today.. RPM A-arms held up, but the whole front end went kerplooey on me... Need to order b2257 b2201 b2151.. All the plastic and some alloy parts went on vacation and forgot to take me along.. It was a bummer, it was the first run of the year, started on first pull, and ran for about 3 minutes before driver error took control of the situation... Ahh well.. Time to put the LST2 upgrade kit on too right away I think :)

OK, dumb question, but I cant find this answer in the manual, The locknut to adjust the slipper clutch, what size-thread pitch is that darn thing? The local hobby shop doesnt have replacements, and I cant find that spec anywhere.. Its somewhere between 4-40 and 6-32... ?? I dont need the whole thrust bearing assembly, just some spare locknuts.. :)

RE: XS3 question
Those sanyo 2700`s are alright... They dont work well in super high drain devices like a Canon 580EX flash, they cycle the flash too slow, but they behave like standard nimh after about a year.. Take them off the charger and let them sit for a day or two and their pretty much dead...

OK, So so far I need a new thrust bearing kit, and a new gas tank.. I always keep cracking them on the left side, when the truck is facing you.. Any ideas on how to prevent that, or how it even happens? Its down on the side of the tank, I dont see how anything could get in there and whack it.. but thats two tanks with identical cracks... GRRR..

Any good threads for lst maintenance on here anyone can recommend?

Shockwave 55 g23/26 replacement primer bulb
Hi all, Trying this for second time, first post went MIA from forum problems if I`ve heard correctly.. I have an old "classic" yellow shockwave 55 with the g23/26 water cooled engine. It has I believe the W or wt645 carburetor, and the primer bulb has split.. Anyone know where I can get this part? Horizon/Zenoah doesnt provide enough parts list breakdown, but they do offer carburetors.. go figure.. lol.. Anyone know a good place for carburetor parts or breakdowns with p/n`s? Thanks, E.

RE: NIMH AA conditioning..
Thanks for the replies.. The batteries have been in use for over a year, so I dont think a form charge is applicable... I`m familiar with charging at lower rates for longer cell life... The guys I race with all hump their packs at their max rated, aka 4200 @ 4.2 when were racin on race night... I think they`re trading off the extra life for the extra punch. Wires are the ones that come with the charger, look to be about 14-16ga. I have about 30 cells I want to go thru, rematch the cells into 4 packs for my 580ex and transmitters. and move those to other service lives or recycle them.. . How do any of you guys rematch your cells??

NIMH AA conditioning..
I`m trying to test out my nimh AA batteries that I use in my RC transmitters and camera gear like the Canon 580EX flash. I have some Energizer 2500 nimh batteries, and some 2700 Sanyo nimh`s also.. I have a Duratrax ICE charger, and when I try to charge the batteries at what I presume is the recommended method if you go by how you charge standard Nimh 6 cell race packs, aka charge a 2500 aa cell at 2.5a, a 4200 6 cell battery pack at 4.2 amps, the charger just errors out or the the batteries peak after about 5 seconds, indicative of too high a charging rate when trying to charge the AA batteries. I have to charge at roughly .5 amp or less for the batteries to take any amount of charge.. I`ve also read that you dont want to charge a AA cell at more than 1 amp, but cant even get mine to charge at that rate... Basically I want to match or re-match my AA cells, but I dont know what the draw rates are on my transmitters or my camera gear, and I`m not exactly sure how to go about it with my ICE charger.. Pointers appreciated.. :)

RE: Aftershock Throttle Trouble
I assume your steering still works ok? If so, take your steering and throttle servo wires going into the Receiver and switch them around, so your throttle is controlled by your steering, and vs/vs.. That might help eliminate or pinpoint the throttle servo as the issue..

Keeping the Air filter on...
Probably smoked my motor today... .26 wasp.. RIP... :( Air filter came off again. I got the zip tie on so tight, it takes me 20-30 seconds to install.... and yes, it is on!! Any pointers to keep it on aside from fewer barrell rolls as I try and get the hang of the jumps at the local track?? There was a pic on this forum or another, of a guy that made a metal bar that mounted to the front of the air filter to help hold it in place, but for the life of me, I cant find it... anybody know what I`m talkin about and can post a link? or directions? Also, would a new era roll bar or similar help this problem? Anyways, there was some metal filings in the glow plug, so shes probably toast, but I took the top end apart and cleaned it out, there was some bits of high quality cylinder killer in there for sure.... Walls have no Obvious damage... Should I take apart the whole thing, aka piston out of sleeve etc and clean it? How about the lower end? Also looking for recomendations on a new motor, .. another orion, in a .28??? Or ? Dont want uber expensive, it will be my first new motor and break in experience.. Lets say $200 or less... If theres something close to that in price, but worth the extra $$$, I will consider it..

RE: Newbie need help with pull start
you need to yank the engine.. Its quick and easy after you`ve done it once or twice.. My owb went out last week, pulled, cleaned it about 2-3 times.. Tried lubing it first... That didnt work lol... Turns out it was cracked... Clean your motor and truck up good, remove servo linkages from engine and exhaust- servo return spring.. Remove gear cover if necessary... undo 4 screws holding engine in. Clean engine real good to prevent contamination, remove last 2 pull start screws, then motor back plate.. . Bearing is inside backplate. Spray down with alcohol or nitro cleaner. Reassemble, the backplate wont fit right until you have the owb connected correctly to the crankshaft. Clean all your screws, and reassemble ALL with blue locitite. :) BTW, anybody feel free to correct me if you like, I had NEWB status on this project until last week myself... :)

Just an update.. Went with an LST upgrade kit, upgraded to 23mm hexes and with the 23mm white rims, and bowties.. That should get me started.. :) All the extras I already have from the kit will be fleabay`d unless someone wants them here.. blue alum diff housings, set of 4 new 420 series 20mm rims.. Anybody have any hints on dyeing the white rims? Not sure what color to go with.. perhaps need a cool looking lst2 body if anybody has suggestions, I still have the factory lst1 body that will die in about a month this year I`m guessing.

Ok.. get the LST upgrade kit that comes with 20 mm hexes, then downgrade to 17`s????? 17`s have more tire/rim availability than 20`s or ??? I already have the alum diff housings, but not any of the other parts.. been toying with the upgrade, but the diffs were the big one that I already have. I suppose I could sell the parts on fleabay that I dont need/use aka housings, rims tires and such...
