RE: Hyundai vs. Mercedes C230
i apologize if you were offended. i don't drive such cars. i know modern cars rarely weigh much less than 3000 pounds, but they can. i'm guessing some modest 90's hyundai could weigh what you say. i did not pick up on you having a car of that vintage. i also ignorantly didn't know such cars had more than 100 hp. please accept my apology, i humbly only was asking. i am also sorry you have to drive such a car....

nothong wrong with new sprints and rs4s. good for what they are, imo. but didn't they just put smaller-scale electronicsd on a new rtr? forget which.

i have multiple hpi, losi and tamiya rc's, and traxxas. contrary to one poster here, i'd buy another traxxas, based on my experience with these brands. for me, the traxxas cars do what they are supposed to do. i don't see inferior build quality, either. even a plastic car like the merv seems well put together.

does the ad say it's for undercover posting? didn't see it. and, lots of stuff they sell certainly isn't junk. that would include orange receivers. batteries and esc's too. (people used to passionately defend maxxamps batteries vs supposedly junk turnigys, under the same inapplicable "buy american" principle i see here. no more of course.) but they have sketchy customer service. i had over 60 perfectly fine orders before getting shafted on a 6s lipo. am i paid too?

i'm amused by the one or two people who say op should just be most thankful someone builds these arf planes AT ALL. i can think of nothing else a business person would rather hear. "thank you, thank you for deigning to build something i want. thank you." well ok. seems to me that a responsible seller should keep a decent supply of parts for at least 2-3 years after discontinuing a model, no? or does this only expose my lack of sophistication in worldly matters?

costs a little more than the ten t did and uses a significantly cheaper radio. but it's waterproof. the new battery box fits the ten-t. they say more room. i could go for that.

RE: R/C Buggy Decision
none of this probably matters to you, but: i have no idea whether you will want to race, but i think they won't let you race a buggy with that .28 engine. i think that is the limit for truggies. i think it has to be a .21, no larger. i have no knowledge of the hyper 7, it looks good to me though, i'm not disagreeing with foxy. i mention the racing thing just so you know. and if i am wrong, someone else please chime in; i'm not a racer, but i'm pretty sure.

Turnigy Slash-Like Truck
if you go to the new items section at hobby king, you will see a 4wd short course truck bearing a striking if superficial resemblance to a traxxas slash. it's $149 plus shipping from hong kong. i think it's rtr minus the radio. i was kind of surprised at first, but when you compare the two trucks, there are many differences between the turnigy and traxxas. but for me, at first glance....

thought so. it was different a few years ago. i was just curious if anyone would still stick with maxxamps as opposed to the turnigy, sky, gen's ace (whatever that means), etc. i thought by now maxxamps would have lowered their prices 70 percent. actually, maybe they have, i wouldn't really know.

i am privileged to have a bedroom dedicated to the hobby. i also sometimes fix my rc's right in bed. over a couple of towels. my wife doesn't mind so long as i move the stuff back out when i'm done. often she helps! really does most of it. she helped me build a 450 heli that way. because i have bad hands and would struggle with a lot of this stuff.

a few years ago, many experienced rc'ers said on these forums they'd stick with maxamps, thank you very much, and that you get what you pay for, and no hk batteries for them. anybody still feel this way about maxamps? they're still advertising....

i do not mean to belittle anyone, but i suspect a lot more thought, earnestness and effort went into several of the answers here (which are good enough to charge money for), than into op's thought of opening a hobby store. i could be wrong about that though, which goes without saying.

i don't know what you are going to invest up front. usually planned, anticipated budgets fall short, however. anyway, like the experienced posters said, do your homework. make sure to have a reason why you think customers will come to YOU. location might be one. maybe not. know that most new businesses fail. i may be a jerk for being negative, but i've seen this many times in my career.

brushed 2wd slash. the only rc i ever got around to selling. i just didn't like driving it. but nothing wrong with the revos or traxxas in my book. nevertheless, the posters here DID sound like they have real reasons not to like traxxas. i'm not arguing with them. my experience was different, but i don't bash up my rc's.

any sneakey problems i don't know about with running a Tamiya HI Lift Tundra off a Futaba 7c airplane/heli transmitter, with a Hobby King Orange RC 7 channel receiver? i mean, a channel's a channel, right? or am i ignorant about this? by the way, if you are wondering why, maybe to have four channelsas i'll eventually go for that truck sound/light master control unit (called something like that); i just think it would be cool.... thank you.
