RE: For all you homelite fans!!!
you can have pick up on bot sides, or just one and both water good. speed master puts there on the left side of the rudder. some time on them ill drill a hole on the right and channel it out so it picks up on both sides since most my running is in a right hand turn. the ones that have it on the right all ready i never really bothered with making it on left since i race right hand turns. next time i down at grandpas ill gee if i might have a old arrowmarin rudder in the parts box.

RE: For all you homelite fans!!!
id rather have the pick up in the rudder. or a prop blast pick up. every boat i ever tried a pick up off the back of the boat made it run like crap. so if you still have problems might want to look in to that

i would raise it first see how it does before tearing it all apart. worst case that what you will have to do. thanks on the paint. but i do wish it still looked like it did when it was new. she been ran and raced hard but still a good boat. been thinking about redoing it this winter. and painting it like it was when new. it just wont be gel coat

RE: For all you homelite fans!!!
hmmm, what kind of pipe length you using? all the home lights i ran 25 or 30 all ways ran 482 most stock and pitched up. mono with moded 30 and canister would run 48 49mph all day. and with a dry tuned pipe 54-56 mph. same motor is a the extra wide f41 stryker cat went 63mph. if only i could find new rings for my homme's, as the years have went one my best motor has slowed down some. last time out with canister muffler she run 45. and with pipe 52. she has alot of racing hours and even more fun hours on her

RE: What engine is this? 230 or 231
pull the head off if it only has 2 transfor ports its a 230, if it has 4 transfor ports its a 231 and if it is a 231 you can upgrade to a 260 easy with a top end kit.

RE: HOR AND EXPRESSCRAFT, GREAT MATCH
i agree Tom im not trying ot complain like i said so far i like the cables and collets. and im 99% sure the saver i used on shaft is what caused the cable to crack a few splines on it.. heck im waiting on my 2 new cables now from you and another collet lol. hope there here tomm. and the cable that got the couple cracks in it was on hydro so all i did was shorten the shaft for another boat i had to use so it wasnt a wasted cable thank goodness TY Tom for doing what you do for the hobby.

RE: HOR AND EXPRESSCRAFT, GREAT MATCH
i will get a pic of old style saver and the new saver im useing now. i really like the HOR collets there hevy duty feeling and i dont feel like im going to strip them when i tighten them. as i said the cable seem to be good so far. and i think my problem was the saver i used . only bad thing is you can not use other cables with the HOR collets if there not a true 1/4 like the hor ones

RE: HOR AND EXPRESSCRAFT, GREAT MATCH
iv been using the hor 1/4in collets and shafts on a couple of boats now for a lil while and so far so good. on cable got a few cracks in it from i think the shaft saver i used was one with the set screw against the cable and it stressed it. i now have collors that clamp and dont use the set screw on the shat to hold tight so we will see.

RE: For all you homelite fans!!!
you doing good on the build man. one thing you might want ot think about on the cooling cap you made it looks great but you want the inlet for water lowest you can go and the outlet for the water the highest. as you want the water all the way around the head to cool and not have air in there as if you have air in there that will make a hot spot.

RE: Craigslist boat shoppin'
turborich you dont know alot about homelites im guessing. your problem is you said prather that boat was junk. i have one of the boats that this threads is about and with a canister muffler on it it runs 45/48mph, with tuned pipe it will run 55+ easy, iv raced these things many a year and raced them when this company was still around, everything they calmed is true. not sure how old this post is, but if i had the extra money i would by that boat in a min, it might not me for a new person, but for ppl that raced them and against them when they was around know whats it worth and know it was top notch.
