RE: RANT: The
These company's are going to manufacture what the market wants , period! Unfortunately the market right now is foamy's. What it is not is 40/60 size WW1 arf's. Sorry but its a fact. Keeping parts for 10 year old arf's, well, you will never ever see a company do that unless the model was a complete failure and didn't sell. Then they would be giving them away trying to make valuable warehouse space. No offense, but some of you guys need a lesson in business 101. And please don't start the ethics song, as it has nothing to do with keeping a business afloat. Please use some common sense.

Well, I just got off the phone with Great Planes who bought out Cox Models several years ago, and I am very very pissed to say the least. I crashed my 1975 Cox Sportavia Glider the other night and destroyed the wing, and can you believe that they had the nerve to tell me that they no longer stocked the model, much less parts for it. I have never heard of such a thing. I have been flying my beloved glider for 38 years. What am I supposed to do now.

RE: Very bad answer from HH service department
ORIGINAL: fiifiward
ORIGINAL: Ron Stahl Mike I know for sure it was HH who dropped the ball until today. My caller works at the hobby shop and he is who special ordered the planes and support equipment for my family eight months ago and has been updating me with the bad news. Somehow this became my fault as a customer who wanted their items or money back , until the call from Rich Whittington from HH today. Like I stated after we spoke he ended up informing me that he has ok'd the return of any new in package product I want to return regarding this mess. As someone stated depending on when and where you order things if they are backordered you can still be waiting while a shop elsewhere has product sitting on the shelves.
I don't think anyone in their right mind would blame Ron for venting. Heck, had he not vented on hear, he probably would not have had this issue resolved until date. Don't be sorry Ron. You acted professionally in my opinion.
Venting is fine, we all have to do it, but bashing HH because HE chose to order $2000 worth of equipment in advance, is his fault. Then complain to the mfg because of his own personal choices, well that's just comical. I've been in this hobby over 35 years and experienced many many delays for new products, and I'm sure many more to come. I have spent many many thousands of dollars with Horizon, just like thousands of other modelers, but I sure don't think I'm "special". Man up!!!

RE: Kyosho DC-3
ORIGINAL: Bob Paris Hi Guys, I had the Kyosho DC-3 and I had retracts for it too. At best, it was a very lousy flyer...in fact it was the worst flying scale model I have ever had. If you want a nice DC-3...take the time and build the Top Flight kit. The Kyosho DC-3 sucks...and I'm being nice about it too. It looks nice...so build it up and make it a hanger queen. If you try to fly her...you will crash or at best, scare the heck out of yourself and or ruin good radio gear and engines. Soft Landings Always, Bobby of Maui
Exactly the same things I have heard over the years. If I remember correctly, the wings were built with wash-in, and not wash-out. Why, who knows. Tip stalling machine. A lot of the stories I remember were not good at all. Never survived the first flights. I do remember one guy who built new outer wing panels, and it flew beautifully. I would stay far far away from this bird unless a new wing is in the plan.

I have never had any first hand dealing's with TB models, but I have not read that much bad stuff about them on line. Good Luck!

RE: Suggestions on programming Spect DX7 and Eflite Super Cub 25E?
You need to choose the flaperon wing. Your right aileron plugs into the aileron port and your left aileron plugs into aux 1 port. You can then use the appropirate sub trims to adjust each aileron independently. Total aileron throw can then be adjusted by your dual rates.

RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
I actually think that what most of them are doing now is actually a good solution. Produce a good quality airframe that modellers of any level can appreciate but leave some options for those of us with the time or interest or skill to ''trick out'' with accessories and finish the way we want. Good for everyone???? That's one of the reasons I decided to document this build. I read a few other threads on the Comanche where guys were not happy with wheel wells and gear doors not being included or couldn't figure out where to put things etc etc but when you look at this kit as supplied, it is actually very complete (when was the last time you got oleo struts with a fixed gear ARF?) I couldn't agree with you more. These kit (arf's) are for the more experienced modelers who want to do things their way and actually like assembling and working. I think what's happening is as the new generation of foamie "flyers" that is used to not even having to adjust a clevis, or anything for that matter, buys these arf's, they expect not to have to do anything that would require the use of their brain. Then they get on line bashing and complaining away, making themselves look totally stupid. Having to plan, think, use the brain that God gave them, no way!!!!!! I WANT IT NOW, AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO GET IT! Now back to the beautiful Piper Comanche! [;)]

Guys, nice 310's, as I have one myself, but my question is why is the top section of the cabin where the windshield comes up to meet it so out of whack? I have seen some models that look like the front of a school bus windshield. The plans couldn't be that bad are they? I know the early models were a little blunt up there, but are the plans in that area just left to interruption? Thanks

Hi Guys, Great Jug thread. I have been looking at the RCskylites site for a couple of months now, and I was curious which set of struts you guys are using. I have started to order the .60 to 1.20 size P-47 struts on a couple of occasions, but I did not know if they were the one's everyone is using. What set is being used by the guys in this thread. I think they look great for the price and will be using them with my 85 degree Lado retracts. Thanks Guy's [;)] Scott

RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
Looking at the instruction booklet the other night, I saw that the tip tanks don't come glued on from the factory thankfully. I'm going to fashion some proper tips for mine, as most full scale twin commanche's I have been around did not have tip tanks. Can't stand the looks on a TC. I'll leave the tip tanks for my 310. I also hope we can shorten the strut lengths on the landing gear. They are way too long to look scale IMO.

RE: Who has Changed over to the newer DSMX and why
ORIGINAL: DadsToysBG As long as it is sold in the US, it will be Spectrum based. The other JR type is meant for the the Asian market. If you choose to get the DsMS you will have to order it from Japan and will get no service here. That also applies to the receivers. Dennis
The new JR DMSS is being sold all over the world, not just the Asian market. The only place its not available is here in the states, and we all know why. Hopefully it will be available here one day in the future. I bought one of the new DMSS systems, and I like it very much. Has the telemetry functions as well. All my main radios are JR's that have been updated to X. The X hopping protocol is far superior to the dsm/dsm2 protocol. I was VERY pleased when Horizon finally wised up. I can now fly my expensive giant scale models with peace of mind. Something I never had when I was flying on DSM2. Its all good now, although I continue to hope that one day we will be able to purchase TRUE JR products here in the states again.

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***
I have a 1/4 scale Pilot J-3 that I framed several years back. It is a very scale Cub when finished. I also had Swensen Specialties make a set of scale gear for it. A OS 1.20 twin 4-stroke is plenty of power for it. I like the E-flite PA-18 scale gear you have on your Sig 1/6 scale Cub. I ordered a set for my Sig 1/6 scale as well, as they are a perfect fit. I have a hanger full of PA-18's, PA-12's and J-3's, as NOTHING flies like a Cub. I only power mine with 4-strokes. There is no way I could bring myself to put a gas engine in any Cub, its just not right. [X(] : )
