RE: 2012 RCPRO Club 40 National Championship Race
Just out of curiosity, what size prop do most people run on the TT pro .40 on a sky raider? I am at 3500 ft elevation and i know going to Waco will make a huge difference. I just want to know so i will have an idea of what prop to run.

RE: Are the new Thunder Tiger 40s actually 46s?
Gunfighter, We have used a radar gun on a Sky Raider with a .46, it was clocked between 85-90 mph with O.S 46 AX in a level flight not on the course. The only reason we run the .46's is the elevation is 3500 ft so we tend to go with the bigger engines for our planes. Now correct me if im wrong but isn't the speed limit for the club-40 100 mph.

RE: Wanted FliteLine Scooter 2
if you contact Eddie Taylor at lazer works in Wichita Falls Tx he can cut you out a 'short kit' i know its not complete kit and he cuts them out as a built up wing. My uncle has built 6 of them so far and they fly really well. The biggest difference is the wing does not have any dihedral but im sure you could built it into the wing with no problem. Or if you go to eurekaaircraft.com you can buy a set of foam wing cores for 25$ -35% plus ship. I know its high for foam wings but its a option.

RE: Are the new Thunder Tiger 40s actually 46s?
Here in Amarillo we race our Sky Raiders with a .46 sized engine. Our last moths race we had a L.A. Racer in on the mix with a TT 40 and was lapped three time with in 10 laps. The next round the L.A. Racer took off first and was cutt in half by a Raider with a .46 and crashed. If you are going to be racing both .40 and .46 in the same heats be careful and let the .40 take off last. But there is a big difference in speed between the two engines. Limiting the prop to 11-5 11-6 may still leave the .46 to a advantage by pulling harder coming out of the corners. I think it would be better to keep all engine the same displacement so people have nothing to complain about.

RE: 2012 RCPRO Club 40 National Championship Race
Thanks Ken and Oldbob, I appreciate the info and will go ahead and mount the canopy above the wing and call it good. I don' t want to be illegal and cause any fuss at the waco race. Now that we have that cleared up is it legal to install ceramic bearing in the engine.

RE: 2012 RCPRO Club 40 National Championship Race
Ok i know you are supposed to assemble the plane per instructions, but as far as the canopy goes it does not give you a specific mounting location. Is it legal to move the canopy back so that the rear mounting hole of the canopy is on the first wooden brace after the solid section of the fuse?

RE: Club 40/46 Race in Amarillo, 2013
Well i talked to the guys who could show up at the races this past weekend here in Amarillo. I asked them if they would be willing to run a .40 engine instead of the .46, and nobody had a problem with changing IF we host a big race. So now we don't have to worry about running .40 an .46 together it will all be even and fair and a little tighter competition.

RE: Viper Q500 engine
I would try at least a 9x8 or 9x9. The engine will unload once its up and going and with the extra pitch you will get some good speed so long as the engine will get on the pipe.

RE: Rossi engine
Thanks Jim, I have looked over this info before and it gives me a good idea for the stock engine. Not really sure if there is any difference between a 27r45 and a 197r45 other that the distributers. Axe with the 27r45 and SG with the 197r45. Any how i am really wanting to know what kind of performance gains the vp mod will give the engine. I can not find any info on rpm/prop number with the vp mod. So i was hoping somebody might have some experience with the vp mod.

RE: Rossi engine
I know this is a little off subject but i am looking at getting a rossi 45 with the vp mod 197r45vp. The website does not give any usfull info for prop sizes and/or rpm. I am wanting to run this engine with the q500 jett pipe on a GP viper. Does anybody have any experience with this engine so i can get a little usefull info.

RE: Skooter II Remember this model
I know this is a old thread but if you still want a skooter II there is a place to get a kit. The kit is not complete i believe you get the fuse tail feathers and ribs. You can get the ribs made for tail dragger or trike and it does not have dihedral. Contact Eddie at www.lazer-works.com

I agree on the winning part. Do you guys time the races at all or do any kind of "brackets" for the winners of each race?

RE: Texas Racers - Alvin Club 40 Race, Sept 3
The course is a two pole set up. I believe there are 10 people in the skyraider class if i counted right. Not a real big class but not bad for not racing in two years. It is a one day thing, for right now were just racing for fun but if we can get enough people to come out it would be awesome to have a big event but thats all in time i guess. But like i said its just for fun as of right now and i'm just trying to get more and more people bitten by the racing bug.

RE: Texas Racers - Alvin Club 40 Race, Sept 3
Dont know if anybody is from the Amarillo area but ARKS has started up the pylon racing again. We race on the 3rd weekend of each month we have raced for the last 3 months and have had good turnouts. We have 3 classes,Skyraider box stock with stock 46 engine, you can remove baffle and replace bearing thats all. Open class where you can fly what ever you want to from a .25 size to 50% what ever you fell comfortable flying but no tuned pipe, sport mufflers or race purpose engine like jett, nelson nothing that hot. If it does have a tuned pipe, sport muffler or "race" enigne you will be in the unlimited class where you run what you brung and hope it's enough. I am trying to get the word out so the people will hopefully like to come out and race. Thanks

RE: Great Planes Combat Corsair and Mustang
Thanks, i really think its going to fly fine but i do have one more question. Are these planes a hand full to hand launch especially with shortened ailerons? The guy also made a dolly to set the plane into and added a servo and receiver to be able to taxi out and take off and i'm kinda iffy about this. Do you think it would be better to just hand launch this thing or should i try the dolly?

RE: Great Planes Combat Corsair and Mustang
Thanks for the info everybody. The plane i have is the mustang not the corsair just to clear that up. Im having my doubts about this but i really want to try it just to make people look at me like i'm nuts. Im putting a webra 50 gt with a tuned pipe that weighs i believe 11.5oz, now thats .8oz more than the os 25 fx so i'm not worried about the extra weight adding more stress to the plane. But just to make sure i am going in and bracing up the firewall and glass the wing just to make me feel better. Now the plane's tail feathers have been covered in 64th ply and "anti flutter tips" on the top of the rudder and outside of the elevator. The guy i bought this from had another mustang that was unmodified that he blew up from flutter at about 150mph so he took precautions "cant blame him". Servo's are all hs85mg so hopefully that will help with the flutter. So that is the plane, now what do guys think.

RE: Great Planes Combat Corsair and Mustang
I just got one of these plane and it has several modifications, the canopy it has been lowered and stretched, ailerons shortened, belly pan shortened, wing span shortened. I am not into combat but i do love to go fast and would like this thing to scream and i mean like 150 mph. Do you think this airframe would stay together at speed like this.
