RE: Muncie 2012
OK you guys, who was there and who won? Gary again? Ya'll have some pictures? I really missed going up to Muncie this year-and last year. It is a great fun thing to do but just couldn't make it. Will try next year. Maybe Jules and I can make it and show all of you how to jump???? Think I am out of practice now but will try to make a mass jump at the noon demo at the Hodges Hobbies Fun Fly on 9/22. Ya'll come on down to Andersonville, Ga. and join in the fun! Keep On Jumping!!! Jim

RE: What is the radio setup for a sky diver?
See my answer to your other thread and it will answer most of your questions about the Robbie "Charly". I use the left rudder and right aileron stick movements to turn the jumper during desent because it is the same control movement you use to turn your airplanes. This set up is explained in the video. However, Kens idea should work just as well. As you will see from the video, I (and others) threw out the plastic box for holding the packed chute which will drastically reduce the number of dirt dives. At one time I had 9 "Charlys" and have experienced every possible problem in getting them to work right ! They repair nicely with lots of epoxy!!!! Jim

RE: Need to know how to fold a Robbe Charly chute
I have made a video for another "Charly" owner who was having more dirt dives than successfull jumps. The video shows my (and others) modifications to the drop box and other things done to get at least 90 % success in chute deployment. It also has info and visuals about chute packing, drop boxes for your plane, etc. The quality of the video is not 1st class but it should answer many of your questions. I will be happy to send you a copy if you will send your mailing address to me. Jim

RE: Low Posting Count
Crashed my 7 yr old Stinger jump plane in Dec. Have a new Stinger & will start work tomorrow to make it into a jump plane that will carry 3 Mike jumpers. Have a Skydiver Demo at a flyin in Apr to start off the year. At least 3 more demos before the flyin season is about over down here. A halo... to drop one skydiver as a back up to the Stinger. I'm ready for the new year!!! Jim B.

We never sleep down hereexcept for an afternoon nap! Have demos in Cordele, Ga. on Nov 12 and in Macon, Ga. on nov 19th. That's probably it for the year.

RE: Experiment with a emergency chute
HI Jules, You and Theo never cease to amaze me with your ideas that always seem to work great. The idea of a reserve chute that works exactly like a real skydiver uses, is a stroke of genius. I am anxious to see how it works. How about putting them up for sale. I could sure use one in the 5 to 6 skydiver demos I do per year. The HALO thing we did in Columbus is now a part of my demo

RE: Muncie 2011
Jules You are probably right about the Margaritas and Juan. Nothing washes that good Mexican food down in Muncie better-and Juan probably had a good wash job!!! That's the way the other guys manage to beat Juan-feed him the Margaritas and use white paint!!! Congrats to you winners. Gary, how many times have you won first place over the years? Great job again. Sorry I missed the festivities this year. Maybe Jules and I can make the next one. I will be jumping 3 mikes this Sat during the noon demo at Hodges Hobbies fall flyin in Andersonville, Ga. He should have over 100 pilots and many, many spectators watching me try to hit the 1600 ft runway!! Photo is of a practice jump with a 3x5 ft flag at our club field. Hope this Sat turns aout as well. Jim

RE: HobbyKing Paraglider Parafoil for RC Skydiver Questions
I am far from being an expert in the manufacturing of rc skydivers. I use them but don't make them. Drop a line to Dave Naylor (Edge Pilot) at rcskydive.com and he can probably give you all the answers. He manufactures RC Skydivers. There is also has a lot of information in this forum. I have not even opened the HobbyKing parafoil that I bought from them. It will be used on a gondola I have had for years. My old chute was torn by the wind. Jim

RE: HOBYY KING Has Ripped Me Off!!!!!
I placed an order with HK by internet on 4/18. I then read this thread and thought I had made a bad mistake. The box was shipped on 4/24 and was receiver here (Al) today 5/6. Not bad service from Hong Kong. The box was packed better than I have ever seen an order packed and was received with no damage at all. After reading all the posts, I guess I was lucky with my first order with HK. Second order-don't know!!

Frank, I flew into Indianapolis and rented a car to drive to Muncie (about 1 1/3 hrs). As far as I know, Muncie only has a small airport. Airfare, hotel, food and rent a car for the whole trip was almost $1000. Probably much more now! Jim

RE: Time to start comming out of our long winters nap
Hi Ken, Glad to hear you are getting back into RC Skydiving. Some of the Joe Nall officials asked last year if anyone was interested in making a mass RC Skydiver drop at the noon demo. Most guys did not want to participate because of the limited space to jump. Most were worried about hitting one of the expensive models all over the pit area. A jump had been made at the old Joe Nall field a few

RE: Happy Thanksgiving
HI Guys Hope everyone has a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! Someone lend me a snow plow. Have snow flakes this afternoon!!! 33 degrees with wind chill of 26. That's cold for us!!! Made my last jump for the year at a Veterans Day Flyin at the Georgia Veterans State Park in Cordele. Wx was perfect. 65 degrees with winds of 8 mph. Dropped 3 mikes from my Stinger with the last one flying a 3x5 ft flag. Now it's time to hang them up 'till next year. Don't know how you guys in the Midwest can stand all that snow, low temps and lots of wind. Brrrrrrr! Jim Boone

Congratulations to all you winners! Somebody has got to break Gary's lock on first place. Only kidding, he is hard to beat! -and congrats to Paul F. for breaking into the winners circle on his first time at really competing in the event instead of being one of the main drop pilots for all of us who was bumming rides-and to Guy for joining the "100" club and winning 3rd place. Juan, you didn't mention anyone getting the "Special Award" so does that mean you won it???? Anxious to see the pictures!!! Jim

Good advertisement and publicity for our hobby/sport. This photo was sent to me today by Mac Hodges (Hodges Hobbies). He got it from a guy that wanted to know if it was "REAL or RC"! This was a photo of my Mike jumper and he thought it might be real!!! How about that. Guess our jumpers sometimes look more realistick to other people than we think. Looks like the one in my Avatar but it's not quite the same. Jim P.S. Don't know how I got so many flags!!!!
