RE: Zeedoo Floats?
Thank you for the pictures as it makes perfect sense now. I really appreciate you taking the time to post those pics. I'm a boat captain with SEA TOW and since all of our boats are yellow I put SEA TOW stickers on my Mini Funtana wings. I now call it our marine rescue aircraft and being able to take-off from water is just gonna make it even more cool. It could take me a couple weeks to get it together but when I do I sure will try to post some pics. I'm super excited about this!!! Captain Scotty

RE: Zeedoo Floats?
Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. Hey JRF, how did you go about mounting the foam floats? Did you keep the original main gear or what? This will be my first float plane so any advice will be helpful. Also, did you use a water rudder? Thanks Scotty

Zeedoo Floats?
Does anyone know if Zeedoo floats from Hobby-Lobby are any good? The 27" versions supposedly weigh 5oz/pair and I like that they are fiberglass. I'd like to put these on a Mini Funtana that I converted to glow ( Thunder Tiger .15). My all up weight right now is 31oz with a full tank. I really don't think power will be a problem but any help will be greatly appreciated! Captain Scotty

RE: World Models Ultimate 40S
Hey Rocko I mounted a TT46Pro sideways with a Pitts style muffler and it works fine. You may have to trim the cowling a little near the prop washer but if you measure correctly you might not. You will definately need a low profile servo for the ailerons as the wings are fairly thin. I think I used a HS-77? Anyway, 3 standard servos and one low profile servo. The plane is a ton of fun to fly and I built it completely stock right out of the box. Good luck and have fun! Scotty

RE: Mini Funtana Set Up
You guys might not like this too much but I love it and it flies awesome! BLUEBIRD 371 SERVOS (5) HI-TEC 555 RX 700 Mah NiMh 4 oz Sullivan Tank Magnum XL 15 Home-made Tailwheel I have around fifty flights on it and have had absolutely no problems at all. Charge it, fuel it up, and fly the ever-lovin' beeeeee jeeeee suuuuuus out of it! Oh, and all up weight with a full tank is 31 ounces. Lil' heavy, but but it does have incredible power. Scotty

RE: World Models Ultimate 40 Bipe
I now have about fifteen flights on this plane and each one just gets better and better as the engine gets broken in. The only let down, if you could call it that, is that the roll rate is fairly dissappointing. Aileron rolls are really more like barrell rolls but if you turn them into 4-point rolls then, wow, now you're doing something really cool. Take-off requiresvery little rudder correction, especially for a bi-plane. I still land fairly hot and always get one little bounce about three to six inches but still no problem. My favorite maneuver is a reverse cuban-8 as this plane looks awesome inverted and then pushing over the top. All said, I have gotten alot of compliments on this plane at the field and it is really awesome to fly! Scotty

RE: World Models Ultimate 40 Bipe
Hey Fellas This is one cool plane. I got the purple one about a week ago and only have had about 6 hours of assembly so far. Not much left to do except install radio gear and engine. I have a TT 46Pro with Pitts style muffler ready to bolt on. The instructions only show how to mount a 4 stroke inverted but it looks like a horizontal 2 stroke will be fine. Oh, by the way, make sure you have a low profile servo for the ailerons as a standard is too tall. I'm using Hi Tech 425BB's everywhere else. Hope to maiden either Tuesday or Thursday and will let everyone know how it flies. Scotty

RE: Mini Funtana Glow Conversion
I put a Magnum .15 XL on mine cuz that's what I had laying around and it flies awesome. In fact, I have about 30 flights on it in three weeks and everything is still tight. I'm using 15% CoolPower and a Master Airsrew 8x4. I'm not sure if vertical is unlimited but it'll go until I can barely see it and then I chop the throttle for an inverted flat spin that lasts forever. It weighs 33oz. wet with a 4oz. tank and flies great. I build a little heavy anyway cuz we generally have a breeze here. Try it, you'll love it! Scotty

I just placed an order for one last night so hopefully I'll get to fly in in a couple weeks! Sure hope to hear good things about this plane but then again, World Models are pretty good INHO. Scotty

RE: What is a good ARF for a 30 4-stroke?
Hey there, I just put a Magnum .15 on a Mini-Funtana and it flies awesome. The plane is well built and all I really did was epoxy on a new firewall and wicked in thin CA wherever I could. It has seven hard flights on it and everything is still tight. I bet you could easily make a .30 4 stroke fit it. My all up weight is a little heavy at 33oz but it has great vertical climb and lands like a .40 sized low wing. It is a small plane so I keep it close. Try it, you'll love it! Scotty

RE: Mini Funtana Magnum 15...WOW!
Hey Fellas, I put six flights on it this morning at about ten minutes per flight and threw everything I had at it. The magnum .15 really hauls this plane around. I wouldn't say unlimited vertical but it goes so far up I can barely tell which way is which so I just spin it down at idle. Snaps are quick and the rolls are however I want them. Slow, fast, two and four points with no problem. My new thing is to roll inverted and do an outside loop as big as I want it. I would highly recommend this conversion to anyway wanting to build a fun little ARF. Scotty ps: I posted pics but have no idea why they didn't show up

Mini Funtana Magnum 15...WOW!
I saw a thread here about the conversion and liked what I saw so I gave it a shot too! I bought the plane Thursday afternoon and just did a maiden this morning. I basically did the same thing as the plane on here with the OS 15LA except I used a Magnum 15 that I had laying around. I made a new firewall and epoxied it to fuel proof it. The only major snag I ran into was the 4 oz fuel tank wouldn't quite fit so I removed to forward fiberglass wing tube which means my wing will have to stay in the rear position. I really don't have a problem with that as my flying style is more suited to that position anyway. Equipment: Magnum 15 XLS with MA8X4 Sullivan 4oz Tank 4 Bluebird 371 Servos (R,E,A) 1 Hobbico CS 35 (Throttle) Hitec 555 Rx 700 Mah NiCd All up weight wet is 33oz which is a little heavy but I feel it will help penetrate this wind we get here in the Florida panhandle. Flight Report: I installed a small tail wheel so that it would be easier to taxi and it handled well on our paved runway. There was very little wind this morning so it was perfect. I lined up on the center line and gradually advanced the throttle to 1/4 then to 1/2. No rudder input was reguired and it ran straight down the line. After the tail lifted I threw her to the kitchen and pulled up. I prefer a more scale like take-off and I quess I used about 70 feet of runway to depart with authority. What a beautiful sight as my little Funtana climbed swiftly through a left hand departure turn to about a hundred feet right into the pattern. I did need three clicks left aileron and two clicks down to maintain straight and level flight at 1/2 throttle. I then checked thrust angle and it must be OK because going from 1/3 to full throttle just resulted in faster flight with no change in direction. Next, I checked roll rate which I usually save for the second flight but everthing was going so well I decided to wring it out. Rolls on low rates with this plane are absolutely pristine. In fact, I did three consecutive axial rolls in a straight line and it took about three seconds. I have never been able to do that before. I also did a four-point roll and several Cuban 8's then decided to do some touch and goes. You guys won't believe how sweet this thing lands. I like to keep speed up until just before flare and this little plane looks awesome riding on the mains with it's tail still in the air. Oh, I never even switched to high rates! I shouldn't say this but I only fly .46-.91 sized planes and this Funtana has made me look at things differently. I'm seriously considering staying small. Make no mistake, The Funtana IMO is not a park flyer as it can be a fast little plane. I really didn't experiment with slow flight except to land but I will in the morning. I also noticed good vertical but did not push as far as I could so I'll play with that too. All said I think this a project well worth the effort. I'll try to post some pics but it looks just like the one with the blue motor and my motor is aluminum. Thanks for a great idea fellas! Scotty

RE: SIG SKYBOLT 60 AILERONS
Thanks Tom, Unfortunately there is only one servo for the lower ailerons and that is what concerned me the most so I quess that answered it. I really wish it was a little more aerobatic so I 'll be shopping for something else. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Scotty

RE: SIG SKYBOLT 60 AILERONS
Thanks rc-sport, I have flown it five times. The first time was over in about ten seconds after climb-out and the engine died. Turned out to be a pin hole in the fuel feed line. The next two flights were simply racetrack pattern around the field to get used to how it flew and I realized it needed more aileron throw so I adjusted that. It seems as it still needs more as even on high rates axial rolls are closer to barrel rolls and on low rates it won't roll at all. I don't pretend to know so that is why I'm asking questions and I do appreciate all your input. Thanks Scotty

SIG SKYBOLT 60 AILERONS
Hey Fellas, I have a skybolt 60 that I bought used and it only has ailerons on the lower wings. I was wondering if I could add ailerons to the upper wings to make it more aerobatic. If so, how would I go about doing it. I really only have experience assembling ARFS but have all the tools I need to do a project like this. I really don't want to sell this plane to buy an ARF if I can make this Skybolt perform better. Thanks, Scotty

WM 27% ULTIMATE- ANYGOOD?
I just saw a 27% ultimate on The World Models distributors website and was curious if anyone has put one together or seen it fly? Specs are something like 63"WS and flying weight of 11.5 lbs. It also calls for a 50cc gas. Just curious Scotty

RE: OS 91FX HELP PLEASE!
UPDATE!!!! not only was there a pin hole but the fuel dot was bad and the mixture screw was way too far in. it'll run now but no more than half throttle and still bubbles in the feed line so it has to be the fuel dot ( i hope). anyway, i'm not going to take any chances and just replace the dot, lines and tank. that way i'll be starting fresh. it's just wierd because i spent so much time breaking it in and it always pops right off and runs strong. scotty

RE: OS 91FX HELP PLEASE!
thanks for all the help guys. the first thing i did was put in a new glow plug but it still won't run. i'm using 10% cool power and have a 14x6 prop on it. it seems like i have to really flood it to get it to pop off and then it dies in like 3 seconds. the needle valve is turned out to 2 1/2 turns and i've been turning on the mixture screw on the left side of the carb. i think that should be out 1 1/4 turns but don't know for sure. i've got a tt 46pro and an os61fx that i tuned with no problems but this one sure is baffling. again, i really appreciate all your help! scotty oh, and the igniter is definately charged.

OS 91FX HELP PLEASE!
hey fellas, i can't seem to get my os 91fx to run now. it's on a vectorflight extra 300 66" and the first two flights resulted in dead sticks. it would start just fine, idle well, and throttle up with no problem, but it would not run at more than half throttle for more than 30 seconds so i pulled the tank and discovered a pin hole in the feed line right at the tank. i then cut an inch off the feed line to eliminate the pin hole and put everything back together. now it will start when i prime it but only run for a few seconds and die. i have the needle valve out two turns from fully closed and set the mixture screw to 1 1/4 out. i did turn the mixture in and out 1/2 turn each way but it didn't help. there is a pitts muffler on it but i don't know how that could affect it. i really apreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction! scotty

RE: vectorflight extra 66 maiden tommorrow?
I have one small washer under the forward engine bolts that gives right thrust. I did'nt put in down thrust and I don't feel like it needs any when it flys. When I fly straight and level flight at 1/3 throttle and then throw her to the kitchen she just goes faster on the same line. yeeeeehaaaa!

RE: vectorflight extra 66 maiden tommorrow?
Hey Fellas, Sorry for the delay but I'm a boat captain and had a good weather window so have been crossing the Gulf of Mexico. I flew it first thing Thursday morning and let me say that I'm usually very nervous on maidens but I had spent so much time checking and balancing that I was confident all would go well. Drum roll please! Takeoff was almost a non-event as I taxied a couple passes and decided to lift the tail, it was so smooth I just advanced to about 2/3 throttle, waited a second for speed to build and pulled up. No immediate concerns but I needed three clicks(digital) left and I think five clicks up at half throttle. The wind was a little gusty (maybe 9-14) but straight down the pipe so I'll keep adjusting trim for the next few flights as straight and level dictates. The plane flew great, no question about it. I did a couple aileron rolls to check the throws and they were by far the best rolls I have ever done. The fuse seemed to just say on axis and the wings rotated around them. It actually looked like I could fly better than I thought I could. I did have the 91FX set too rich on the low end and ended up choking out after an Immelman so I yelled "Deadstick" , flew it to the landing pattern and greased another landing. That's when the phone rang and I had to split but I can say that the rest of my planes are going to be in the hangar for quite a while as I know this plane is just gonna get better and better! I'll try to post some pics in a day or so and thank you guys for all the helpfull information. I really appreciate it! Scotty

vectorflight extra 66 maiden tommorrow?
Well, this is it. I've been patiently building, reading and waiting for the weather since early December. The plane has been ready since January but it's been breezy or a light cross-wind so I have held off. The forecast is for a light wind straight down the runway so she's going up in the morning. It has a 91FX for power, hitec receiver, and ace rc servos. I haven't weighed it but seems to be around 8 lbs and balances perfectly. I'm really just curious what to expect out of this plane as I've only been flying for about a year. I mostly fly a Black Horse Super Air which is a low symetrical wing, tricycle gear and 46Pro. I also have a Sig Skybolt with a 61FX which I have flown about four times. I can fly it no problem but it is a beast to take-off. Thanks for any help!
