RE: WACO YMF
I found and won a 1/5 Waco in pristine condition yesterday on ebay . I have a new saito FG-21 gas engine I've just broken in and will being flying on a 120 Spacewalker II. I may be able to use it on the Waco. I'm excited about the find. http://www.ebay.com/itm/150893742747?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_500wt_1414
ORIGINAL: alan0899 G'day All, Can anyone tell me what size spinner comes with the Spacewalker 11 120 Arf. I'm using a Saito 125 in mine. But I can't start putting it together until I get my shed built, in about 3 weeks. Cheers Al.
I just received a TruTurn 2.75" ( TT-2752-B-120) to use on my new saito FG-21 fourstroke. It is designed with slots large enough for 120 sized blades. There is a red 2.75" red plastic spinner included in the kit. Making my starter run on my 18 volt electric drill battery did wonders for turning over the engine (test stand) but the plastic is kind of soft with the kit spinner and it got marked up by my starter's rubber insert which is kind of old so I ordered the aluminum spinner. If you go the TruTurn route be sure to order the correct adapter at the same time.

Anyone use the RCEXL mini tach on the saito FG-21? I'm trying to determine if I can just plug the tack into the dedicated tach lead or if the y harness which comes with the tach needs to be used also? Thanks.

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
I received my Spacewalker II 120 yesterday. After a lot of debate I decided to go with the new Saito FG-21 gas fourstroke. This plane begs for a four stroke sound and I wanted gas instead of nitro. Was going to use a Dle 20 and returned it. I saw a video of this plane flying on the older FG-20 and it sounds great and performs well. The new engine has an updated carb, ignition by rcexcel and new valve seats. I could not find videos and just one review of the new engine. Hopefully I'll have good luck tuning this engine. My new engine comes on Tuesday. Here's the video I watched: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohzzwP1rpm4

RE: H9 Pulse 125 DLE 20 questions
ORIGINAL: grosbeak I am running a Pulse 125 with a DLE and it's a nice combination but: - I have replaced the stock gear with TNT gear to address prop clearance and noseover issues - I have ditched the elevator control rods in favour of dual external elevator servos and have replaced the rudder control rod with a pull-pull system, and - I have glued AND bolted the tail to the fuse. There are a lot of folks running the Pulse 125 with the DLE 20 - as far as I've seen nobody has modified it as much as I have, but I don't know if there's anyone who has left those three items completely stock.
Thanks for the reply. My pulse is coming on Wednesday and I am seriously considering returning it and getting the Seagull Spacewalker II 120. I guess it depends how much shipping will be to return it. I like the nostalgic look of the Spacewalker. I tried to return the Pulse but it had already shipped.

RE: Gp Waco Bipe 120...how wide?
ORIGINAL: althepal88 My cowl is about 9 1/2 inches wide; fine if you have padded seats and don't get a prop in your armpit. From the top of the cabane struts to the ground in about 19 1/2 inches, and I am using Skylight 4'' wheels inside the pants. My plane goes to the field assembled in the back of my shortbed/covered pickup. If you use the carrying/assembly unit, you will have to add to the height. Can't you put her at an angle?
I really appreciate your help. After a lot of thought I decided to try the DLE 20 in a Hangar 9 pulse 120. Fewer transportation and set up problems. Thanks again. I really love the Waco.

Thanks to this thread I've got this model coming. Horizon was out so I ended up ordering from Espirit Models. Hoping it's not the older version. I placed my first order from Troy built models. I thought they were willing to go the extra mile to discuss things before ordering. I'd like to know which muffler to use? TBM came up with a silencer for the stock muffler which they include with an engine purchase (new plug too) . There's a video on their site demonstrating it. What do I need to do for engine cooling? No spinner? Do I need to replace the main gear and tailwheel? Silencer http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/TBMDLE20SILENCER.html
ORIGINAL: phakur One extension for each aileron unless you decide to mount elevator and rudder servos in rear (that's not in the manual but people have done it). Put the servos where they say, you can balance the plane by moving battery packs aroundso you may need a battery pack extension as well. I didn't. Also suggest a smaller fuel tank if you are going gas. The DLE 20 fits entirely in the cowl, so you'll have to do something with cooling inlet outlet and muffler extension. There is a ton of room inside that cowl to mount ignition as well. I didn't put the battery in there, could have, it made the plane a bit nose heavy so I moved it back a bit. I rotated the carb on the DLE 20 180 degrees to put the throttle on topjust personal preference
Thanks for the info! How long are the wing extensions (24")? Also live here with the Texas wind, how much wind can you fly her in?

Gp Waco Bipe 120...how wide?
I'm trying to determine if the GP Waco fuse will fit in my VW Jetta Station Wagon. The specs say 72" length. Problem is I only have 63" from the back of the front seats to the rear of the car. I would need to move it forward between the front seats which are 9" apart. Will the cowl fit through a 9" space. Also, how high does it sit when on the mains and tail wheel? Thanks for the help. My mistake, misread. Fuse is only 56.5". Still wondering how tall.

Can you folks tell me how many servo extensions and lengths for a Spacewalker 120? Ordered my engine and accessories and am about to make a final decision about the plane. Can't decide between the Spacewalker and the GP Waco. I like both and the longer set up and breakdown of the bipe is discouraging. I'll be using a dle 20.
ORIGINAL: AA5BY Your comment about your building room shared with radio... is my situation as well. I still have all my radio and test gear in my building room. I'm an inactive Ham however, and should clear out the radio stuff but I'm loath to part with what was once important I guess but I have given thought to selling the stuff and making more room. I guess what holds me back is that I've been forced a couple of times to change gears hobby wise so with an awareness that nothing in life can be certain, I might one day want to reactivate as a Ham so why sell out for peanuts. And... I've got one bench with test gear; a scope, poor mans spectrum analyzer, sweep generator, and various other test gear. I hear you about the fumes. My radio/airplane room is in the house but behind the garage with three doors, to the garage, back yard and living area. I can close that door and otherwise ventilate fumes between the garage and back yard. It works most of the time but have been fussed at a time or two. I do have a very nice setup for modeling with a back yard shop only a few steps from the back door of the building room and storage for planes on garage walls and ceilings. It is very nice to have a heated/cooled building room and such is a worthy trade for more size. btw, last night was spent buttoning up a few odds n ends on the SW. The cowl was left off for now and probably through the maiden and all is ready for firing the engine and getting idle and failsafe set. Might get that done this evening if not too tired. I started a construction project yesterday so will have less time and energy for modeling for a while.
Do you feel safe leaving your SW in the garage in this Texas heat or is the garage air conditioned? Just wondering, I may face the same issue.

I finally found a like new kit. The last time I tried I received a 1/6 pica Waco kit which this board thought was water damaged. It was and I sent it back. I found one which is like new and won the bid on ebay last night. The guy has a 100% rating and the kit was "never opened except to inspect the contents with nothing removed". I figured I may never find another in this condition and bought it. Guess I'll be going over this thread again. I framed one up back in the 80's and sold it due to my busy work schedule at the time. I've alway's regretted not flying it. Here is my second chance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280766856821&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123
