Electric power system for Lil Swamp buggy
Considering an electric conversion for the Lil Swamp buggy. I'm thinking 400 size outrunner, 25 amp ESC, 1800 Mah lipo. Am I on the right track?

RE: Great Planes J3 Cub 40
We are fortunate that servos are affordable these days. I'm amazed when I read old R/C mags and see how much the radio gear cost back then. A Kraft radio in 1970 cast almost as much as my new 8 Ch 2.4 system. The bellcrank system looks like alot to fool with, Making a dual aileron system will actually be easier. This one will put my left thumb to work, looking forward to it.

RE: Hobbico Avistar a Performer?
I flew my Avistar on an AX .46 and it was a ball to fly. It took off in 25 feet, and had plenty of power to pull it through basic aerobatics...lots of fun. Just be aware that The Avistar was designed for the LA .40. The AX .46 is heavier, I had to move the Rx pack behind the servo compartment to balance. It was easy to do though. I regreted selling it.

Everone knows I'm into R/C planes (I read M.A.N. in the break room). I often get asked about the hobby and usually recommend the HZ SuperCub to people. You can get your feet wet with minimal investment.

RE: Great Planes J3 Cub 40
I had planned to build this plane with no modifications, including using the stock aileron bellcrank system and put time and effort into finishing, and detailing. Looking at the wing plan, it looks like a dual aileron set-up will be easy to do. So I sketched out an installation using a servo hatch, and a flat wing servo directly onto the wax paper.

The stab and one elevator are completed. Due a few cutting mistakes, I ran short of the 1/4 x 3/4 stock needed to build the second elevator. I picked up the needed stick at the LHS. The second elevator will be done at my next session.

RE: Sig Somethin Extra... Enlarged???
I'm a fan of the SSE, and sadly I just totaled mine. I'm not sure I would want one in 30cc, but I always thought a .60 size one would be very cool. I wonder why Sig never offered it in other sizes. Sig missed an opportunity.

RE: Great Planes J3 Cub 40
The lazered parts needed some clean-up, with that done I laid down the rudder. When satisfied with the parts fit, I glued them together using Slow Jet. I'm using thick CA so it doesn't ooze out of the joints. Nothing complicated here.

I think of every build as an adventure, so let the journey begin.[:) I started by prepping the tail parts. I thought this was going to be a die cut kit, but to my surprize the parts are lazer cut.

Many of you know this kit already as there has probably been many threads on it already. It's been a staple of Tower Hobbies' catalog for a good while. There's alot of lumber here! Along with molded windows, and an ABS cowl, all appear to be of good quality.

Nice! I've been to build one of these for my LA .10. Many of the HOB kits are heavy and over built, I hope that this one is an exception.

Better cowl for GP Cub
I just dusted of the bench to start my GP .40 Cub build. I'm not happy with the shape of the kit cowl, it seems too wide and too "square" for my liking. Any one have a source for a more scale cowl for this kit?
