RE: JR XG11 with the Assan XD8 TX module
Duh ! Sorry.... misread earlier posts.... thought it was the DSX11. The XG11 does not have a rear "module", it is fitted on the front half of the set. Not sure if the rear casing is complete or has a removable cover. I havent got an XG11 to hand to check out the easiest way round this. What you could try is removing the plug in pcb fitted in the front half of the set. This MAY disable the DMSS automatically but I am not certain. Obviously you will lose the Telemetry functions. Anyway, plugging in the trainer socket and setting the unit to Slave will automatically set the trainer output on and in PPM format.

RE: JR XG11 with the Assan XD8 TX module
Although there are the standard JR 5 pins showing, the modulation signal is fixed in DSM2 format. I would need to dig out info to see if the modulation pin can be rerouted to a PPM signal. :) Tony

RE: JR XG11 with the Assan XD8 TX module
Hi Gadi, Yes the cover is removable but is easier to do from inside. Remove the rear case BUT be careful as you take the back off as the RF cable is quite short and can be broken easily. Fold the back to the right, the RF cable is glued into spring twists so you need to clear the glue away and gently pull the cable through to give you maximum to the right. The "module" sits on an interface board, you would need to slacken off the screws to this pcb and lift it up slightly, reach inside and push the module away from the board. Remove the UFL connector, and then remove the "module"" on its carrier. Reach inside and there are 2 clips to the rear cover, ease them away and the cover should pop out.

RE: MODE II to MODE III
Unfortunately that is one of the quirks about JR's top radio systems.... they only cater for Mode 1 or Mode 2. They do not have the option for a true Mode 3 / 4.

RE: JR 12x with
C292 is a 10uF 20V capacitor. It sits across the battery supply (+Vcc), for that to blow like that, it would be either a reverse battery or high battery voltage. You can remove it but doubt very much if it would cure the fault.

RE: What is this on my DX8
It's sloppy work whatever the reason. If it was mine, I would clean it then spray with pcb varnish (like I do with every pcb repair I carry out)

RE: What is this on my DX8
I would hazard a guess and say its flux residue from the solder. Should be easy to remove if it is, get a cotton bud and dip it into IPA (IsoPropyl Alcohol) or something of that ilk and gently rub over it. If it comes off easy then no problem.

Remove RFF Module and look in bottom of set. Fuse is located there, the rating is 3 A (NOT .3A)

RE: JR 12X battery
Battery. The reason why it shows low at switch on is that the RF section is being very active. After a few seconds the RF output drops slightly (happens on all systems that I have looked at) and the current consumption drops off as well. This allows the Voltage to rise. Give the battery a good charge.

RE: How did he mod this TX?
Some of the older JR sets could be fitted with metal plates that prevented movement ( X756 was one such set ). Not knowing the stick structure of the 6i, this is just a guess.

Very much doubt it as it was only available from JR (via its distributors) for limited time period. I can't remember how long it was available for via MacGregors but from memory it was for about a year (ish)

RE: New JR DMSS Radios Announced
DMSS has so far proven itself to be reliable. The only problems so far relate to software updates but this isn't a function of the DMSS modulation.

Bill, I assume you are talking about the ADT version (3+1 trims) ? If so then there is a process that entails both electronic and physical changes. Doesn't take long to do... pm me with an email address and I'll send you the info required. :)

RE: PCM 10C transmitter with dim screen
I know what he means now, it is the original JR PCM10 Aero. The manual's front page shows it as "System A10C-5SFR Computer" The NET Code is NET-A110FZ (This is usually located to the left of the display panel (on this model). Unfortunately, there is no contrast adjustment on this set (accessible by the user). I would advise sending it to Horizon, the screen may be perfectly okay but the voltage converter inside may be weak (due to capacitors aging).

RE: JR question !
Don't worry about the 50/60 Hz difference, it makes very little difference. You must be certain that the UFL connector is seated correctly (Antenna lead to RF pcb connector). It should "click" into place and you should be able to rotate it slightly without it coming off. Once happy with it, secure it down with RTV or by using a hot glue gun. The later releases seem to be held in place by black sticky tape holding the RF cable to the main RF board.

RE: New 6, 8, and 11 ch. JR radios announced - DMSS technology
Seems to be extremely reliable. Power measurements are a breeze from the technical POV. The only issue I have had a was when doing a Firmware Update for a customer. The card reader seemed to be intermittant and the system froze on me. Had to ship it back to Japan. So in a year, all I have had is one single set fail on me and if I had thought about it, I could have prevented the conversion process from RC Transmitter to a "Brick". :)
