Disagree with you there. The 11X does not replace the 12X but is an addition to the family for those that want the additional channel above the 9 series but don't require the full 12.

RE: Jr radio Id.
It's a 10 channel beastie but it's so blurred that I can't make anything out on the front panel to identify it 100% On the lower left there is a name plate, there is also a NET code there. What is the full code ? This will guarantee it's full identify. :)

RE: X9303 2.4 is it dead...
modern Tx's use an EPROM, instead of a battery, to retain the data stored in memory. This is a Chip like the BIOS chip in your PC. Model Memory data can be written to the Chip and it is safe there even if the Tx is turned off.
PC's still use a Lithium cell to protect against power fail. If the power fails whilst the set is trying to do something (like boot up) it can corrupt the firmware. Once that happens.... paperweight. JR shouldn't have listened to a certain organisation and stayed with using lithium cells as a "stay alive" battery.

It's dead. The CPU has crashed due to insufficient voltage and has buggered it up. Have to send it in to Horizon who will replace the CPU PCB.

Are you absolutely certain that you have set the correct modulation on the Transmitter for that receiver ? If you have set PPM for a PCM receiver, it shows a slow flash sequence and the same for PCM for a PPM receiver. (Not certain what the 720 is ... I only know the standard JR naming)

Hi, ignore the manual as it is written in the US. The power limit in the EU is 100mW EIRP but in reality (due to the inefficiency of the antenna system) you will be transmitting less than that. Serial numbers SHOULD be in the battery compartment.

The X347 is still a good set and can be used with a 2.4 GHz module to give you a decent entry into 2.4 GHz systems. Don't throw it away as there are many still in use. :)

Sorry but the answer is no. The ZPCM system is 9Bit (512 step) and the SPCM is 10 Bit (1024 step) and as such not compatible. SPCM Transmitters started at the X388S level.

RE: JR PCM9X II programming of aux4 channel
With JR transmitters, Aux 4 & Aux 5 are sent at a different rate to the other 8 channels. This is probably why they can't be mated to a lower channel. A quicker way of mating the gear channel to the rudder is INHibit the Gear channel in DEVice SELect, select GEAR as the Mate to RUDDer in WING TYPE.

RE: DX3S question
The Spektrum range of transmitters use 3.3V to power the 2.4 GHz module. The rest of the electronics will use typically 5V. As the DX3 uses single AA cells then 8 cells would give you 12V, which is then regulated down. This voltage "loss" is converted to heat and is wasteful. Using 4 cells gives you 6V which is more suitable for a 5V regulated system, ie less voltage to lose as heat. Hope that answers your question.

RE: Futaba balderdash
Tell me.... as you are sitting at your computer, what would happen if the electricity supply dipped to say 80 or 90 Volts instead of 110 ? As you computer is rebooting, who would you be cursing at ? Dell ? Gateway? HP ? No... it would be your electricity company. These modern receivers are computer controlled (for want of a better word) and rely on a steady supply of a fixed voltage. Take that away and the system needs to reboot. Cast your minds back to the olden days.... yep, a couple of years ago when you had crystal controlled receivers. Drop the voltage and the system glitched but it was transient because as soon as the power came back up, the receiver worked immediately. The internal voltage regulator on a lot of receivers was (is) 3.3V. Take it below that and you had a brown out. Any manufacturer who is first to market will have some issues, it's inevitable ! The brown out issue was identified and rectified, but if you still choose to use crappy battery systems or ESC's that are underrated then you cannot blame the manufacturer of the Tx & Rx.

RE: Futaba balderdash
I read and digest what has been written and it amazes me. So many problems with Spektrum / JR are (in the end) due to poor user understanding. They adopt the same build criteria as "the old days" and then blame the receiver/transmitter instead of looking at the build quality. Yes admittedly, in the beginning there were problems with Spektrum kit but they were easily fixable. But any company that adopts a "new technology" will have to accept some flak. Futaba had their own issues.... Zero GUID anyone ? Heat related problems ? XPS had their own issues as well... single channel "intelligent" hopping ? The theoretical antenna ! The spread of disinformation etc. No one system is perfect, YOU have to know the limitations of the systems that you are using and attempt to minimise the risk. For some applications, DSSS is better but for others FHSS is the choice, and for some... well a Hybrid DSSS/FHSS would be the way to go. All companies are guilty of marketing using the "Brand A is preferred over Brand B by 9/10 cats" etc etc . It is up to us to see past the waffle and choose what we need.

Before you send it back, make certain that you haven't accidentally set the contrast all the way down. I have had a couple sent in for "repair" only to find nothing wrong with it except for the contrast set low.

RE: JR 6102 Problem (NEED HELP)
The lithium cell is located on the switch board. So you need to remove the RF board ( after removing the main battery of course ), unscrew the switch pcb and gently pull it away from the front panel. It's soldered underneath. :)

RE: Does anybody know if JR will be releasing any new radios soon?
Tricky one to answer ..... As Horizon is the JR distributor for JR across in the Americas, and Horizon has a vested interest in 2.4 GHz ( ie owning Spektrum), I cannot see Horizon introducing ANY 72 MHz systems from now on. Because of the "agreement" between JR and Horizon/Spektrum , JR are slightly limited in what 2.4 GHz systems they can make (If you look at the 5 & 6 channel systems available now, they are Spektrum branded). However, I've heard that JR are working on a replacement (on conventional frequencies) 6, 7 and 8 channel radio and are probably still working on a 16 channel system. If you look at the time scale between the 642, 652, 662 and 2610 (6102), they are overdue a replacement for the 6 channel system. Likewise the 378 and 2720 (7202).... they are due to come out with a replacement 7 channel system. There hasn't been anything to replace the 3810 (8103) so that is also due. Hopefully in both normal and 2.4 GHz. Will they come out with a replacement for the 10X ? Don't know but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. Remember that other markets are still active in the conventional frequencies. Mainland Europe for instance is controlled by Graupner who are in bed with XPS so there is still a market there for 35 MHz. Japanese home market is still 72 MHz, Australia on 36 MHz, 40 & 41 MHz used elsewhere. Not everyone is switching over to 2.4 GHz yet. JR tend not to release new systems quickly (unlike some others) as they like to make sure they get it right first time ! :)

RE: DSM2 technology
Sorry for the delay there.... had to go out for some time. JR (Japan) [ Sorry I have to specify that as many people across the water automatically think that JR and Horizon are one and the same or worst still, some think that Horizon own JR] are producing a DSMJ Frequency Hopping based system. The J in DSMJ denotes that it is primarily for the Japanese home market as the DSM/DSM2 based systems are limited to 10mW. Whether Horizon will introduce the DSMJ into their catalogue is anyones guess but I would say highly unlikely as it would be a competing system to the one that they have JR manufacturing under licence for them (DX7, DX7SE, X9303 and 12X).

RE: JR RADIOS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE STATES
Very true in that observation but.... for the Japanese market if you use DSSS based systems (which is what Spektrum is albeit a Hybrid) they are limited to 10mW EIRP. For the full 100mW, it has to be a FHSS based system.... hence DSMJ being developed by JR with assistance. ;)

RE: JR RADIOS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE STATES
Remember who owns Spektrum & the technology......................... Horizon. Who (regardless of what some people may think) do NOT own JR Propo. Therefore Horizon would NOT want to start selling a competitors system ( ie JR's DSMJ ) as they would not make too much money from it (unlike Horizon selling JR's 9303, 12X 2.4 and the DSX7 which all use licensed Spektrum technology). Simple ! :D
