RE: BVM F-100
ORIGINAL: turbomike ... At 1:7 scale, this level of detail can be very hard to reproduce. Please keep the photographs coming : ) Michael
The open/close mechanism, all hooks & ears are done and ready to install. @Michael: Yes, a nice detailed 1:7 scale is not a easy project. I wish the F-100 biger. Airworld has a big one but the accuracy of fit isn't perfect as BVM. My current scale project based on experience from my first BVM F-100 and my extremely detailed scratch built 1:6.5 Mirage 2000C. Here the picture form the ready to assemble hooks & ears and some pics of my Mirage 2000C as appetizer. Rainer Willisch

RE: BVM F-100
The date of delivery form my new BVM-F-100 is in 10-12 weeks :-( Anyway i started already with manufacturing of some scale parts :-) At the time i work on the operable canopy mechanism. It's a little tricky, because the canopy should be open, close, lock and unlock in similar manner like the full size F-100. To lock/unlock there moves not the hooks but the whole canopy slide forward respectively to backward. That is to say: to open the canopy slide at first a little backward and then it will move to open. All the hooks and ears should looking real as possibel. The lock parts are very small but very strong and unbreakable. Rainer Willisch, Switzerland

RE: Dean Cutshall’s F-100 F
A great many of the markings are new. That shows Terry'y up to date pictures. Almost all new decals are drawn and ready to produce. About the text i have some questions. I mean correct is: Arrow abov: "BLEED". Arrow below: "SECODARY" I think secodary is miswritten and means secondary. (In this case i write it wrong to, because it's scale). Thanks for your help. By the way: i'm in search of detail pictures from the Twinseater (instrument panel i have plenty). Rainer

RE: Dean Cutshall’s F-100 F
Hi Terry Thank you very much for the high resolution pictures. Some decals are done. All letters are drawn by my self and correct to a dot to the original. Also the position and size of each rivets are in absolute correct position. As next i make the right riveting & screw tools. Here a example from one decal: As first step i drag the template to the correct front position (plan view). Then i beginn with CAD drawing. (the diffuse letters i make later when i brush the text).

RE: Perfect Model Jet
ORIGINAL: sskianpour I've owned and flown Boomerangs, Kingcat, F22, F15's, CARF Tutor, MB339's, Ultra Lightning, Ultra Bandit, BVM F100. I cannot honestly tell you which is my favorite, because that answer is a function of what mood I am in on a given day and how I wish to fly that day (fast,? scale? Aerobatic? HArd? Mild? etc...) With that said, my BVM F100 may be harder to see than some of the larger jets like the 339 listed above, but it is by far the one that gives me the most satisfaction / adrenaline / pride / big fat grin from ear-to-ear flying (and landing like Rainer points out above.) The Ultra Bandit is a close second to my Hun. To each their own. Shaz
Shaz, you bring it to the point. We can't compare apples and oranges. It's what you wan't and what you like. Some one has a marked preference for modern jet, som one for classic jets, and the other one don't care look or type of the airplane. They will fly just for fun (like playstation). I'm interest generally at airplanes and technique. And i'm a passionate builder. The reason why the BVM-HUN is my favorit: The construction & landing gear is well thought-out, perfect light and solid processed. The F-100 Super Sabre has a sucessfull history and on the RC airfield in europe is the F-100 once in a blue moon. With the rivetet aluminium surface, the several hundreds of details and the depth detailed cockpit was my F-100 a eye candy. (May God rest his soul). Further has the BVM-HUN awesome flight quality and a wide spectum of light characteristic. With full flaps and slats it's a train. In a slow fly by the HUN looks majestic and with the shining surface it's a feast for the eyes. Power stick forward you have a rocket! The top speed is far over 200 mph.If you take the BVM-F-100 to the airfield, ton't forget to wrap the keen-eyes. Only two things on the BVM-kit are not funny. The BVM-HUN cost a packet and give a great deal of work. Rainer Willisch

RE: Perfect Model Jet
ORIGINAL: dubd I'm hoping my BVM F-100 becomes the one jet to rule them all.
Since 1993 i built & flight RC-turbine jets and they are a lot. (3 different SU 27, Tiger F5, F-20 Tigershark, F-14 Tomcat, F-4 Phantom, BVM-Argessor, BVM-Viper, Wildhornet, Pampa, BAE Hawk, Aermacchi, F/A 18, Mirage 2000, BVM-100) The BVM F-100 Super Sabre is my absoulte favorite: perfect size (transportable/handling) great look, best flight quality & a great pleasure in landing pattern. Thats my reason to built a secound. Best regards from Switzerland, Rainer Willisch

RE: BVM F-100
ORIGINAL: roger.alli
ORIGINAL: sskianpour 4. This one is from Dan Avilla. He was right since I had to try it once. If you land hot...and you KNOW you will go long and OFF-Road. You can comfortably lock your brakes up, slam the steering left or rght, and literally do a ''hockey-stop'' with the Hun. Those soft BVM tires won't thank you, but your turbine will, and so will the hundreds of hours you spent on the finish. The ordnance will thank you, and also the wings that would have otherwise have the tanks and ordnance rip off them and possibly damage the wings. I did a full hockey stop one time last year. The Landing gear handled it as if they were purpose made for it. Any chinese ARF would have the trunions explode, the struts bend 70 degrees, then the Retracts pull straight out of that cheap 5 ply. My Hun just kind of came to a stop sideways and looked at me and said ''dude, you are weak, you are a pu$$y, you call that a hard stop? That was soooo easy for me to do that I think I liked it. Get your pathetic attempt at stressing my landing gear out of my face you panzy''. <-good. Happy Landings all! Shaz
That was a close shave. But i dont want try a hockey-stop; unless it's essential. With a maneuver like this you risk easy a turn over and the model. A turn over with 40 lbs and 20 mph is a bunch of bull

RE: BVM F-100
The Super Sabre was designed as a fighter tool . It's a weapon, not a furniture. So the perfect look is not important. I think a lot of the scale builder build to exactly and to nice for absolutely perfect scale. In fact, generally the F-100 is not polish - unless the "Cutter" HUN (it's a mirror). For the Cutter HUN Flitematal is the perfect stuff. Other case, i prefer paint colour for the silverlook. It's easier and more realistic. Rainer

RE: BVM F-100
I remember at the maiden flight with my F-100. About the heavy loaded HUN, i was worried to death (approximately 45 lbs/20kg with full tanks 4.8 liter). But they was no reason. Flying the BVM-F-100 is a pleasure and a privilege. Just a doozy!!!. In spite of the weight, the F-100 has excellent flight quality. The BVM-Super Sabre is very solid and precise to pilot. Landings are a enjoyment. That's jetflyinig pure. @Gary: how thin are the titaniumsheets? To handle the titanium sheets, add riveting & screwheads, is it tricky? And where is it available? thanks for your feedback, Rainer Willisch

RE: BVM F-100
Many years ago i built with enormous effort and passion a extremely detailed aluminium polish finish BVM stretched HUN. The most scale-parts like navigations lights, fuel tank caps, cockpit parts, seat belt, rear view mirrors, ladder, operated canopy, drogue chute package and much more are built and molded by my self. The F-100 flew just dreamlike. Last week, i lost my F-100 because the radio failed. At this winter i will build a new, great deal better "Cutter" F-100 F 63948 (Dean Cutshall colorsheme). At my next Super Sabre, i try to plank the hot section with thin titanium sheet like Grer Wright. Here some pictures of my 1st North American F-100 F Super Sabre. RE: Twin Turbine Jets, loosing 1 turbine
All Airplanes ar a breeze to fly. SU 27 is a waltz, the twin engine BVM Phantom is a rocket and needs experience to see the flight attitude. The Tomcat is a mix of both. Wings forward is the Tomcat a gentle cat - like a Flanker. Wings back, it's a fucking missile. My favor is the f-14 Tomcat. The F-14 is in the truest sense of the word a fighter Jet (each flight is a fight). :-) By the way: the grey Su 27 flew since 1995 with 3 different generation of turbines. The first turbines are JPX 240 Propangas turbines (5 jears sucessfull in use). Twin engine with gas turbines was a big challenge because the gasflow work only with tankpressure and not with a pump. In case of flameout from one engine the gas of the dead stick engine flow unburnt in the fuselage and the secound turbine provide the heat. The solution was a magnetic valve wich operated the gas cock in case of emergency. And 10 jears AMT Mercury with airstart. The last two jears are two IQ Hammer in mission. The wight/power rate was amazing. For one of the first twin turbines RC Jet are 17 Jears in duty not bad economy
ORIGINAL: su27flanker sad to hear :( su27's are my fav jet love em whats your fav to fly between the f4, f14 and su27? do they all fly differant? RE: Twin Turbine Jets, loosing 1 turbine
Don't worry: it's not witchcraft. The only reason for twin engine of full scale aircraft is the safety in case of a dead stick of one engine. In case of a flame out from one engine fly, go around and landing is sometime a little different but not realy problematic. The most failure is to lose one's nerve. For exercice to fly with one engine, program with a switch one turbine to idle. If you accelerate the Jet, only one engine speed up. The other one stay on idle. You will see, there is no bad surprise. It must be pointed out that transmitters don't have warning systems in case of dead stick. A flame out of one engine is not allways to hear directly (Last of april i lost my grey Su 27, because i flew on the stall range and detected the flame out to late). By the way: i have twin engine experience since 1993 and many flights (SU 27, F-4 Phantom and F-14 Tomcat).

I changed the turbine and the battery of my F-100F Super Sabre and forgot to mark the C.G. Now i'm not sure about the correct center of gravity. The C.G. is in the manual unspecified. It's only written that the C.G. is on the moldet dots just aft of the wing slats. To be sure, i want know how many is it in millimeter backward from the leading edge. By the way: On my HUN the C.G was approximately 36cm (14.2") backward from the L.E regards, from Switzerland, Rainer Willisch
