RE: Dewalt motor
I sealed my inrunner with a small bit of silicone sealant on the back of the can and a fiber washer and a dab of grease around the shaft bearing and have run in wet conditions before without problem

RE: Dewalt motor
Just go brushless, i was gonna go with a dewalt 14.4v motor on my tmaxx conversion but the good people here steered me away from that and i thank them. I went with a hobbyking m6a combo on 3s and its ballistic.

RE: Scratch built ??
Thank you for your reply! I'm gonna do some glide testing after its all balanced out and decide if I need to make a new wing with more span and chord. The more I look at it, the more I think the wing loading will be too high. I also have no way of weighing this thing accurately (to the ounce/gram) and theres a lot I could have done to make it lighter but what I got is what I got! Live and learn from the experienced guys I guess!

RE: Scratch built ??
This website has gone straight down the crapper, and it parallels society. People arent building for themselves anymore, they wait for a company to make what they want. Not even 5 years ago this site was completely different, a lot of people building what they wanted and taking pride in it and the pros could tell you if your build was done right or not, but not anymore...

Scratch built ??
After a couple years of trainers, then a sturdy birdy that I put ailerons on (and built a new set of wings for twice.. lol..) I decided to scratch build an EP park slowflyer. Its just 3 channel (rudder, elevator, throttle) until I can assure it's gonna be light enuf to fly first. Well the dimensions are L-20" span- 27" cord- 4" with hitec hs55 servos, gutted old 6 channel Futaba reciever, C-10 ESC, Electrifly GRU with 370 motor and 10x4.5 prop. The wings are hot wire cut from high density white styro with about 15* dihedral. Whats a good weight to aim for? I am trying to keep it as light as possible. I will post some pics of this flying POS in a while lol..

RE: TMAXX 2.5 (black trans)foc
So folks, the story: I'm a hard headed id10t and didn't listen to other members on here and decided that since I fabbed a motor and battery mount to keep the tmaxx trans and upgrade it to steel gears because it would be "easier". DONT DO THIS!! Get ahead of the game if you convert a tmaxx to electric and buy an emaxx brushless transmission, its already got metal gears, its 2 speeds, and has a motor mount that bolts to the trans, all it takes is a couple of brackets to make it fit the tmaxx chassis.. I'm already over $140 in the transmission ALONE and still havent fabbed the 2nd gear lockout plate.

RE: Don't know what to do with revo
I converted my TMAXX to brushless, and it is well worth it! I used this http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-combo-m6a.html combo, fabbed a motor mount and battery mount and I'm running 6s lipos on it and its a mad beast! I haven't gotten a full charge run through it because I keep breaking things.. I've upgraded to a lot of steel parts (just ordered Robinson Racing steel transmission gears). This truck does standing backflips with ease and the mid gear TRAXXAS setup did hi 20's mph- mid 30's mph.

TMAXX 2.5 (black trans)foc
I've called Robinson Racing before asking what gears I will need for 2nd gear forward only conversion without much luck. They basically told me I'd have to get the full 2 speed gear set to make it work but I've seen otherwise, just having a hard time pulling up the proper info ATM. My truck is converted to brushless/lipo power and I haven't been able to run a full pack thru it yet on account of breaking stuff.. lol. I want 2nd gear only. I know I will have to make a lockout plate to maintain motor braking and reverse, thats not a problem. I'm having a problem with the nomenclature here too, in order from top to bottom in the trans is it: 1-primary gear? 8529 2-2nd gear? 8538 3-output gear? 8586 Thank you guys, RCU rules!

I can def make a lockout plate if I need to.

steel tmaxx gears for brushless conversion
I bought a Hobbywing M6A brushless system and 4S 5000MAH hard case Hobby People LiPo(1/8 scale motor and 150A ESC, built a motor mount and battery mount, and proceeded to break a lot of the stock plastic parts.. lol.. Ive replaced the center shafts, axle shafts, and pinion with steel units and after turning the punch up discovered that it does standing back flips and destroyed a couple trans gears. The trans was already locked into second gear, I think with stock gears but I'm not 100%. I got the truck as a roller without the engine and the trans doesn't have the 1 way bearing anymore. It's a black 2 speed case (non optidrive). I called Robinson Racing and they dont know what gears to use for this, and I def want reverse. Thanks!

RE: 24V dewalt drill motor
This is precisely why I posted in here, thank you for the replies with actual reasons. It looks like for the price I can get a brushless esc/motor combo and lipos for a competetive price to getting an appropriate ESC to run 22-25v.
