RE: The Australian thread
well a went today and flew it at my new makeshit airfield ( a series of about 4 soccer fields in a row and a cricket pitch) and was right, no wind (wasnt that much wind in woodvale but less there anyway). Unfortuneatly i thought the battery pack i didnt use would be enough, wasnt. Lost some of its charge since xmas day and subsequently the motor didnt have enough mpwoer to properly takeoff and keep control. Did half a corkscrew and destroyed my recently improved tail assembly. I thought 'hey rubber cement will do the job', forgot to check if its safe on foam, bye bye elevator. So now i repaired my elevator that i broke in my maiden tree attack and ill charge the battery for tomorrow...

seems very similar to the hobbyzone firebird commander/scout except with rudder control instead of the v tail assembly.

ozrcboy my problem is the oval i think, its very small to gaining altitude is hard. Today im going to try that new oval, hopefully it would work better... Believe me barell rolling the ef is not something to be jealous about, its part of the reason i hard my first crash... It looked really cool on tape though. Here are 2 pictures of the EF i took after its maiden barell-roll-tree-attack

RE: aileron trainer
ORIGINAL: divergoff Smalltime, I was in your boat not too long ago and went with a warbird, the eflite p47. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT!!! On my first flight it went into a tree and the second the ground. I was able to fly it the third time around, after rebuilding it twice, no fun or cheap. If I had it to do over, I would go for a high wing trainer, like the begin air. Is is possible to go straight to the warbird, yea, but only if you have extra money to kill and time. Neither of which I had so my P-47 sat in the basement for a few months till I could get parts for her. That just my two cents.
thanks for the advice divergoff. I was looking at the warbirds for their power as im in perth (one of the windyest cities in the world (3rd i think)) and their looks. However my friend also had trouble with his venom warbird and instead got the aerobird thing. i think i might go with the aerobird swift if its available.

well im in woodvale currently flying at the local primary school oval, but probably going to change my oval to a much larger, better mowed soccer oval that has bush nearby that shelters it from wind

RE: The Australian thread
ok put spare wing and tail on, when i realised i didnt have the tail wheel, so i flew it without wheels (i found the tail when i went back to the tree). I found the problem on my maiden was that the planes was far more responsive and powerful than what i expected, so i flew at 3/4 throttle and alot gentler than before when the gust of wind came back, full thorttle to get back height, moving too fast had to do a quick turn to avoid trees and football goals when another gust of wind flips the plane causing the wing to hit the propeller ripping a hole in it (im repairing the second wing now). So now im gonna be more cautious and change ovals to one thats in a ditch to avoid the sudden gusts of wind.

RE: The Australian thread
well maidened my EF, wind kept hitting the wing when i did a roll takeoff (cross wind) so i threw it into the ind, it flew well plenty of power when it started getting near the school, brought it around, nice and easy, when it got close top the cricket nets (easily avoided with up elavtor) when it got near a tree, flew over it, close to road flew back, applied sharp rudder to miss the tree again so it did a barrel roll? the EF is capable of barrel rolling with the rudder in light wind! well it barrel rolled attack the tree and, well it lost... first wing has chunks missing, the prop fell off (but its fine) and the elevator is destroyed, luckily the EF comes with spare parts so i will be fine. Very fun even if flight lasted 1 minute (moving to bigger oval next).

have to say i like the idea of having a spitfire, but when i saw parkzone released thew spitfire i though the detail would be greater than that seen on the focke wulf or the mustang, truthfully i think it is worse. still looks good though, even without landing gear

i had an airhogs intruder until it started disintegrating mid air (never had a crash though). I now have an electrafun XP(3ch with 4ch radio) which is similar to the hobbyzone firebirds etc, except they are much cheaper and have elvator/rudder control instead of the v tail system (plus its a bit smaller)

its a bit small the cc, only 20" wingspan... it has rudder control, but no elevators? personally i went the Electrafun XP (comes with 2 battery packs, albiet crap ones and a spare wing/tail). Cost me AUD 140 (although commonly found at AUD150~170) the url to the electrafun http://oos.modelengines.com.au/command/servlet/Command?command=display_item_pub&pkey=meng&f_id=[INVALID%20FORM%20VAR]&itemid=ELECTRAFUNXP

RE: Electrafun XP Review/Thread!
I just got my Electrafun (have to wait for xmas though) :(. I can better ur price of AUD 170, got mine for AUD 140! I was tossing up between 3 planes, the Electrafun XP, the Extrafun XL or the Shun-Da Piper J3 cub. I got the Electrafun cause it was cheaper than expected (the price is supposed to be AUD 150 i think from Perth RC's website) and also Perth RC didnt have the other 2 in stock (they only got new ones in today, I know i was there yesterday). I was wondering about the stock batteries, what is the flight time roughly with them, 5-7 min?

RE: EXTRAFUN XL 4CHNL LIPO / upgrades
I was thinking of getting the Extrafun XL for my first 4ch plane (i.e. first plane with airlons), as it is pretty cheap. Can any1 please tell me rough flight times, any problems and what it is like slow flying (im plannin g on flying it on a large oval with a cricket pitch, but mostly on a small oval also with a cricket pitch). Also, any1 know the stock transmitter's range? Any response appreciated.

was the shop stanbridges or Perth RC by any chance? i was thinking about going with the ss the part i thought that would go wrong is the parts you have to buy, not the kit itself Ive decided on a extrafun XL myself (comes with LIPO)

RE: rc tanks which one to get
when i bought my HL tiger 1 i didnt have a choice, i could only get the non S&S one (pity, would have liked metal) However im still more than happy about it (especially since i got it new for under $70 USD) I only had one problem which is letting other people drive it, mine has those pre-programmable things on it that every1 i let have a go seem to touch, my own dad just about drove it over my tier out the front (it survived)

RE: HENG LONG OWNERS ONLY THREAD!
I have a hen long tiger 1, bought in china for around 550 Yuan. I lost a ton of those plastic things when i let my dad have a shot and he nearly killed it when almost fell of a 3 tier wall [X(] (it only fell by 1 tier [:D]) I thought when i first bought it it would be chinese crap, but since using it i discovered it is quite hardy for the price.

RE: Shun Da Piper Cub J3
ORIGINAL: AJ1202 Hi smalltime,First if this is going to be your first plane you might want to reconsider, it is a great plane but not a good first, the ESC can handle the lipo but it won't read the proper low voltage so it would allow the batt to get too low if you aren't carefull, you can buy a LVC and add it or if your going to consider lipo you might want to think about brushless. First thing is if your looking at buying one make sure you can get the one with geared motor, there are a few MUST do's before flying this little plane. if you choose to buy one come back here and we will get you through from box to flight, and welcome to the addiction.
thank you AJ for your quick reply. This isn't my first plane, I had a 2ch electric until the onboard battery died. I looked at a hobby store in perth and they stock 7.4V 1250MAH LI-PO 20C made by VENOM they also stock the 7.4V 3200mah LIPO 15c, which i think are the same size as this one here http://www.venom-racing.com/images/products/batteries/lipos/main.jpg. I think the battery pack may be too big? The brushless i am looking at is the V-Series In-Runner Brushless V20L Motor, also by venom (not sure about gears) thanks for the help

RE: I need Rockets
ORIGINAL: JETSETF18 I am looking for some 2 small rockets to put on the side wings of my grey F-18 HET. Anyone know where I can get some of these or the best way to make them myself. Warbirds.com has some great examples in there picture page. One particular is a F-18 Grey scheme with stars on it. Anyone that has good ideas, please share them
if you want to build your own, good luck, but it may be easier when you first start to use a 'booster' engine like a B6-0 (i'd go smaller in a rc plane maybe a A).

I bought a Hen long tiger 1 tank recently and have had no problems. The only complaint I have about it is that the decorations break easily (the actual hull is sturdy though).
