RE: AD Scorpion Mk2 just arrived: assembly thread.
ORIGINAL: BaldEagel Could you use a BVM fill valve, air flows when the fill tube is pushed in, but none comes out when you pull the fill tube out? Mike
Mike, I did think about that but doesn't air only flow once air is pushed through it from the fill tube side? For example if you fill your tank and pull the tube out it holds air, but if you were just to stick a pce of tubing in it the air still doesn't bleed out, correct? I've always been curious how they work inside but for the price haven't been ambitious enough to cut one in half. [;)]

RE: AD Scorpion Mk2 just arrived: assembly thread.
Good suggestion, I'll do some experimenting. Technically the airbrake should be closed at this time so only one line would need the 'check', correct? I'm sure I'm way over thinking this....just looking to simplify the ground support. [;)]

RE: AD Scorpion Mk2 just arrived: assembly thread.
That's what I'm thinking. If you take the hatch on and off for startup and shut down it would be nice to not have the air lines flopping around, and also not have to have the hatch hanging by them and laying on the fuse. If I find a solution I'll post about it.
ORIGINAL: LASHMETT75 Tamjets.com Search check valve...same as the robart quick disconnects..but with check valve
I have those, but they require a quarter turn to lock. I want something that doesn't need to be touched, just automatically plugs in as the hatch goes on and off. Like this: http://dreamworksrc.com/catalog/airline-quickconnects-assembly-three-p-796.html But with a check valve so when its plugged in air flows freely but when it is pulled apart air is stopped.

RE: Futura 1.9m Build
Thanks for the comps guys. Paul, I haven't started installing the gear yet in the airframe, but I ordered a couple of the Futura smoke tanks from Bill Hatcher (see earlier post in this thread) and will post some pics when I install them. They are designed to fit under the turbine mounting rails. With regards to the winglets, I wasn't keen on taping them on as they would need to be removed before and after every flying session to take advantage of the nice wing bags that came with the kit. I've used a pair of 4-40 button head screws through a nylon washer in each tip. They thread into a 4-40 hex nut under the tip. I sanded the bottom of the winglet and fixed the nut with aeropoxy/hysol. Then I used some filler to blend it in to the tip. Not ideal, but it provides a very rigid mount and should be hidden well enough. Here are a couple pics, hope it's helpful.

RE: Futura 1.9m Build
Started adding some color to mine yesterday and today. I'm embarassed to admit to just how much masking there was for such a simple scheme. [8|] Only the red and blue (and black) are painted, the white is rubbed down gel coat. Even the white lettering is just the exposed gel coat. Still need to add a few markings on the fuse and wing top/bottom then I'll be ready for clear.

RE: Futura 1.9m Build
ORIGINAL: jetpilot HI Sean, Didnt change anything except follow the guys advise regarding CG. Great size jet that flies much bigger. I have heard that the smaller one doesnt quite fly as good as the big one, but I will have to disagree. It must be that the first ones were flown with bigger motors or the CG being to far forward cause this one is just as good and a couple guys thought better. We were flying in 15-20 plus mph wind on last day and it handled it no problem. You will love it. Thanks for the extra pics James!! Scott
Great feedback. I must admit it took me some time to warm up to the look of the Futura, but it's grown on me the more I see it, and I'm not sure I've ever read a poor flilght report on the model. Are you using the stock hardware? Looks decent enough. I just need to work out the hatch mounting and open up the inlets and then I should be ready to start painting mine. Nothing elaborate, but I figured it be best do it before I install all the gear and fly it....I suspect once I fly it I won't want to stop to paint it. [;)] Here's mine as it was right out of the box.

Good report Scott. I just got one myself and started putting it together last week. So far pretty smooth sailing. The quality of the glass work and internal structure of the wing is very clean and impressive. Did you change anything or make any assembly recomendations? I'm going to run a B100 in it and ordered a pair of smoke tanks from Bill Hatcher.
