RE: CG Mohawk 1/96th
Nice looking model. Nice website. You should think about producing some other types of kits for people like me that enjoy modeling scale pleasure vessels and commercial vessels like tugs, fishing boats, etc.

RE: IMEX RTR boats & ships
I received a reply from "Ozzie" at Imex. He was very helpful. I called the person he suggested I call and my questions were answered promptly and professionally. I am going to buy one of these boats and let you all know what I think. Until then.....

RE: Modelshipmaster.com - Crooks of the highest order!
Thank you for the warning. Too often we take for granted that people will keep their promises. I find it rare when they do not but, when it does happen, it is extremely disappointing and frustrating. Always remember to check the fine print. If you are buying from a vendor out of your area you need to know what your rights are, especially if the vendor is out of the state or country. In the U.S. every state has adopted the "UCC" or "Uniform Commercial Code". You can find it on line. Please note that the "fine print" can significantly limit your rights. Many "invoices" now have "arbitration clauses" that eliminate your ability to sue. If you find yourself in a situation and there is an arbitration clause it may require arbitration with the "AAA" or American Arbitration Association. You can go to its website for more information. You were wise to consult with an attorney. Good luck. I hope you get your money back or the model.

RE: IMEX RTR boats & ships
I think these models are distributed by IMEX. It sells the Smit Rotterdam, Smit Netherland, a NY Harbor Tug, a PT boat, fishing trawler, etc.. I would love to hear from anyone that has purchased one of these models.

RE: Model club in Ft. Lauderdale FL
Dan, I joined Waveblasters to get to know the members. They are not opposed to travel. Several went to Clearwater area last weekend for a Tampa RC club's two day regatta and competition. I used to belong to that club when I lived in Tampa. Maybe there are other Waveblaster members or scale people who live in our area. We should try to get together and drive to Stuart one Sunday AM. When I am in Lauderdale I am going to look up that club and try to meet some folks. Steve M.

RE: Huckins Yachts
I am a yacht fan too. You may try writing to the company. I will be at the Palm Beach Boat show on Friday. I will ask around. If I get any positive feed back I will post. I have plans for an old Feadship and a 80's era Broward. The Feadship plans came from Taubman Plans Service over 20 years ago. Try to contact Taubman. I think the plans are available from another vendor now. Can't remember who but you should be able to find it on the I. The Broward plans were given to me by the owner of Broward Marine after I asked. Just brought home a Dumas Prime Time kit. I have not finished anything for over 20 years but I am gearing up for a build.

IMEX RTR boats & ships
Has anyone reviewed or purchased any one of the IMEX scale boats? I saw one the other day that looked impressive. I saw the a coast guard cutter. I am most interested in the Smit tugs. Any comments would be appreciated. Steve M.

RE: It followed me home, I guess it's mine....
I may have found a source for the plans. The owner of a local hobby shop mentioned that he was building one of these for a customer. I will stop there and ask him if he has a good set of plans. I would like to build the Z65 myself one day so this would be a good place for me to start.

RE: Crabbers and Salvage Vessels
I love anything commercial, especially salvage and fishing. Being a maritime attorney I deal with those types of vessels all of the time. Go to the library and check out Maritime Reporter and Engineering News. It is a publication that comes out monthly. You may be able to get a free subscription. I have seen lots of articles on new builds in the fishing and salvage industry. If you can not find a copy let me know. I always keep old copies at the office and I would be happy to mail you one. I am converting a Mr. Darby to a salvage tug. I have a shrimper at the office and one in storage. The one in storage is a Desco that needs some minor repairs. My favorite vessel to model is a motor yacht. I have yet to build one but that will come soon.

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
I have the model plans in the original envelope that they were shipped to me in 1987. Model Builder included a copy of the article. I am looking forward to building this tug one day. Have to finish two other tugs first. I am getting back into the hobby after about 20 years. Kids, work, real boating, garden RR, kept me busy. I am really enjoying this website!!!

RE: Model club in Ft. Lauderdale FL
Nice tug! I am working on one now. I will have to figure out how to post photos. I started this tug about 20 years ago! I also have a Mr. Darby modified that operates but is not finsihed. Also dormant for about 20 years. Oh yeah, I have the model plans for a tug from Model Builder magazine still in the original envelope with a postmark from 1987! I also have a set of Taubman plans for a feadship motoryacht "Ocepa" that I want to build once my skills are improved. I just bought a dumas "Prime Time" kit of the yacht designed by Tom Fexas. Can't wait to start that one. I can not travel to Ft. Lauderdale to participate in a club and I can not remember the name of the club I used to belong to there. If I do I will let you know. I suspect that I have info in one of the boxes I have yet to unpack that contain my modeling supplies. It is like Christmas every time I open one up! I would love to participate in a club closer to home. Does anyone know of one in the Melbourne, FL area?

RE: Model club in Ft. Lauderdale FL
Try to look up a gentleman named Ed Hunt. I used to live in Lauderdale about 15 years ago and belonged to a great club that met in the Hollywood area. Ed Hunt was very active in the club. He was a great guy and a great model builder. His projects were museum quality but were radio controlled. I am sorry I lost touch with him. If you locate him tell him Steve Moon said hello. P.S. I am also a trawler nut. I am starting to get back into the hobby after about 15 years and I want to spend my time building models of motor yachts. Let me know if you have any projects started. I visit Ft. Laud frequently on business.
