RE: on rd adjustable clutch
I agree man, my plus .12 - 3CT Tuned is so powerfull still, & it's the 06 version, it still has ceramic bearings & the crank & sleeve is a work of art. & it's a 3 port allso. I would've loved to get the JP version back then, but that engine was over $600 autralian & the JP version was around $800. Wayyyy toooo muuuuuch $$$$$$ man. The O.S.'s i had were 5 port turbo plug engines & they're unreal, & only a bit over $300. I've got a couple of 3 port versions too but like i said man , they're all between 3-4 yrs old now & still reliable & powerfull. The new O.S XZ models sound good & if they're anything like the old TR & TZ engines then i'd stick to them. However, ya can't beat the Italians for craftmanship, & I've got a liking for JP BLACK modded Novarossi's. The JPFX.21B-8T that i bought off a friend for $600 second hand, is an awsome thing. He had it in a Mugen MBXT Truggy, but bought a house & got out of racing so sold all his rc stuff. The engine had just been run in & had around 6 tanks through it after run in. It came with a new conrod , he replaced the conrod after breakin, as that's alot of strain on the engine( conrod ) when they're new. I still cannot turn it over by hand with the flywheel on, it's tight as. That's the first thing i noticed with Novarossi engines is how tight they are man. I had to heat my Plus 12-3CT up with a hair dryer before i could start it, for a long time after too. Mongrel tight. Nice. I didn't have that with any OS engines. Novarossi rocks. Tony.

RE: on rd adjustable clutch
Good one man, i'll try the same thing. I put a novarossi PLUS.12-3ct Race Tuned 06 engine in the MTX-4R when i bought it, it's an awsome engine too, & after 4 yrs it's only had 1 conrod change, & it's still got too much go for me lol....Yep, the old italians know how to make engines. I've sorta stuck with O.S. engines in general for reliability & price range is good, but splurged out on the MTX-4R as the place i got it from had it cheap, allthough the engine cost more than the car kit. Oh well, ya only live once, but after owning it i can see why they're so good. ok man, gotta go so, i'll try get the photo's on & let ya know how i go with the overdrive. cheers Tony.

RE: tire problem!!
Hi Matt, I'm not real good on the computer yet, so i'm not sure where to find a link etc, but the mgt is the exact same truck as the mta-4, not sure if Thunder Tiger joined up with Associated or what, but Proline make the 23mm hex adapters & are around $40 australian for 4. Not sure what that is US ? Allso , check out Tower hobbies on the net, or RCMushroom on the net, just look for 23mm hex drive adapters for either the T-Maxx or Thunder Tiger MTA-4. I've allso got them on my T-Maxx as it's running alot of hop-up stuff alloy shocks -chassis-bulk heads etc, & i put an O.S.18TM with a larger alloy pipe R.O.A.R. legal , which gave it heaps more bottom end & allso wants to wheelstand all day long, So......seeing both trucks now had 23mm hex's , i allso had to buy 40 series rims , which are a larger diameter rim but the beauty of that is being able to run a lower profile tire, which gives that edge in handling , cornering etc with no side wall flex. The rims & tires are allso pro line, hang on man, i've just found an ad for the pro line 23mm HD Hex adapter & it says thewre's 3 different types , but the one's you want are - part # 6034-00 ..........they fit - All Maxx trucks ( T&E Maxx) Revo , MGT , MTA-4, LST, TNX. if you can't find em , try www,prolineracing.com & they allso have the tires & rims you'll need. I've got 2 types of 40 series MT Truck tires on the 40series rims, one is the bow ties, theyre great for racing, very low profile, absolutely no tire roll at all, hence you'll see most MT trucks that're winning races are running them, (not sure on how long they'd last if you're driving on any surface other than dirt) & the other are the big joes i mentioned earlier, they're alot wider & a little higer profile than the bow ties, but have an indestructable tread, i've had them on all surfaces for over 3 yrs now, they're kept mainly on the MTA-4, as they just seem too big on the T-Maxx, allso you will loose a bit of top end speed as the drop in tire diameter will change you're gearing. Try going up a few teeth on you're pinion gear, & down a few teeth on the spur gear, that should even it out . But if you just get smaller spur alone you will have a killer truck on the track, as you can't get too high a speed up top end on most the tracks i've been on. The big joes are like moto x tires & the MTA-4 -MGT is a heavy truck aye, but it now drifts & wheelstands on comand, even with the stock 4.6 engine mine came with, the O.S.VG.30 isn't a race engine , but i got mine cheap $200 australian, & it hammers, very easy to tune, & is like all the os engines i own, very reliable. So i hope i've been able to help a bit Matt, i'm learning how to put photo's on attatchments etc later today hopefully, so i can show y'all what i'm talking about ok. Cheers man , Happy motoring , Tony.

RE: on rd adjustable clutch
Yeah man, where the balls sit ! 4 of them are a different shape on the bottom of the recess's, like, they're slightly flattened on the bottom, & the other 4 are perfectly rounded. If all 8 were sitting in it, then 4 of them would sitt 1mm (approx) higher ??? Must be something to do with the tuning of the clutch engagement point aye ??? what'd you think man ??? & in regards to yer oversteer , I've been having same probs with both the MTX-3 & MTX-4R, i was going through rear tires (foams 40) like 3 sets to 1 of fronts. Actually the front i was using 42's so changed down to 40 & even 37, but was still having mad oversteer. & I'm a real tame driver aye, i look after my cars to the point they're all like new still. I was told to drive how you were describing, to be consistant, not flying off every corner etc, i still have a go though, as lot's of oversteer describes. Plus , engines are way too expensive to drive like yer mate does aye ? smooth on the power & keep an eye on the conrods etc, & ,(touch wood), i haven't blown an engine in my nearly ten trs of driving them. That just made me think, the engine in the VoneR , is an old O.S..12TR-(P)-T 5 Port, it's at least 5 yrs old, never had anywork apart from after run oil & sealing up the possible air leaking spots & a couple of o rings in the carb. & it still has plenty of compression & power. All my engines i've broken in properly, & apart from that one, all have had a conrod & pin replacement a few litres of fuel after break in stage. Like i said man, i'm kind to me cars, & only drive the on rd cars on tracks. Ahhh....it's a great hobby aye ?? Cheers matey.

RE: tire problem!!
Hi all, i've had my MTA-4 (which is the exact same truck as the MGT) for 2 yrs now & i had that prob too. I fixed it by buying 23mm hex adapters & 40 series rims & tires, WOW what a performance & handling improvement they made. The stock rims i sent back to Thunder Tiger & was sent a brand new set (6 months later), but i haven't used them as i had fitted the 23mm hex-40's with Big Joe's on . So if anyone out there wants to buy the stockers i'd be glad to sell them as i don't have any other cars with that size hex's. Haven't had any tire prob's since. & it hammers with an O.S. VG.30 & Side mounted Novarossi pipe fitted with the option side mount header. Awsome truck. It blitzes most buggy's around the track. Handles unreal, just wants to wheelstand all the time is the only prob at times, ( i don't mind that one little bit ! ) Try the 23mm hex setup !!!! You won't look back man.

RE: on rd adjustable clutch
Yep, you're probably spot on there bud, It's actually a nice design, allthough being used to the Mugen clutch's it just seemed strange that all the balls weren't fitted. Allso on 4 of the recesses the bottom is slightly higher, like 1-2mm ? any thought's on that one ? I'm still getting the hang of computers , but i'll take a few photo's to show what i mean. It's a beast to drive allso, i've gotta have the diff (Ball diff) fairly loose so it'll drive in a straight line , otherwise it's full on fishtailing to the point of outta control. They're pretty cool once setup diff wise though, alot different to our 4wd cars. I see you've got a VoneRRR ? I allmost bought one, in fact i'd been drooling over them as a couple of mates have them, but my LHS had the Mugen MTX-4R on special & didn't have any Kyosho's at the time, plus the Kyosho was a couple hundred bucks more. I allready had an MYX-3 Prospec & 1/8 MRX-4R so alot of the parts are universal for all 3 models, so it made sense. I do have a VoneR though, It's the GRP wide sponge version kit , with sway bars, & one way included in the kit, has a different shock spring holder for running rubber tires.I've replaced the chassis as i found one cheap at OZRC (they're an on line shop as well as walk in etc) Top shop actually, great service, but the VoneR was my first serious touring car, she's in beautifull cond allso. anyway i'm raving on a bit aye, but thanks heaps man for yer help, like i said earlier, took alot of worry off me mind. I'll try sort those pic's out today, cheers matey.

RE: on rd adjustable clutch
Thanks matey, that explains it perfectly , as the bloke i got it from ages ago was a Picco team racer, it's got alot of modified parts on it that from pic's i've seen of stock rs 600's haven't got. So i guess he knew what he was doing aye ? I was just concerned that maybe he'd been short of balls haha & just assembled it with just enough to get it rolling. I've lost his ph No so couldn't call him to check. So thanks heaps for the advice aye.

on rd adjustable clutch
Hi there, i've recently inherited an old picco RS 600 2WD 235MM, it's been extensively modified & i don't have a manual for it so i can't find the info i need regarding the clutch. on the body shell there's a decal saying Syncro clutch ? Dunno if that's the brand , but i can't find anything on the web regarding it. It's basically the same as the clutch's on my Mugen MRX 4R & MTX 3PROSPEC & MTX 4R , only difference is instead of shoes inside it has ball bearings ! My question is : it has spaces for 8 balls but there's only 4 fitted ??? Can anyone explain what the go is there, & i can't find anywhere on the web on these type of clutches. Thanks for listening to my woes. Thanks all.

RE: recceiver battery????
Thank's for the promp reply people, when you say bad ? is there any way of fixing the prob ? ie : cycling etc ? or is it a case of chucking it in the bin ? I'm loving you're site & i've only been on it for a few hrs ! Thanks heaps, people like y'all restore the faith i'd lost with jealous idiots at the track feeding dissinformation out ! Thanks once again ! P.S. i've dozens more questions, so stay tuned for constant mail. Cheers.

RE: recceiver battery????
Howdy, i've got a question, i've been told to charge all my reciever batteries (NIMH) at 1amp but recently i was advised to charge them at 4amps ? I use a Swallow ac-dc 2 charger & in the past ie : yrs ago when i was extreemely non knowledgeable about anything to do with batteries, i mucked around with 3amp - 4amp back to 2amp etc, never sticking to the one amp rate. Consequently now, apart from the batteries i've consistently charged at 1amp, all the batteries i mentioned earlier now get hot as *#@%^!!? & don't stay charged for long ! I've tried cycling them & discharging etc but ???? Q -? Have i stuffed them up ???? ( they are all NIMH humppacks) Unfortunately when i first started out our LHS expert was a nasty bloke who delighted in giving newbys dissinformation to generate selling more stuff as we destroyed gear due to his expert tuning & advice etc. It wasn't till i joined a good r/c club that things took a turn for the better. I nearly gave the hobby up as i had spent so much $$ on stuff that i knew nuffa about & was useing his "good advice" which as you can imagine was emptying my pocket & getting me nowhere. Anyway , i have a collection of seemingly stuffed reciever packs i have gone to throw out but have been hopeing to hear one day that they can be rejuvenated ? Allso, a couple of the packs i had been charging at 1amp , got charged at 4amps several times now due to not being calm enough at several race meetings, & i'm worried i may've stuffed them ???? Any advice from some 'o'you pro's out there would go down well people. cheers........
