RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***
Hi Lowbubba ...it looks like you are on the right track. If that is koverall and dope you are using.I would sand the tip end of the filler just above the horizontal stab so it blends in a little better.Have you ever covered the south end of a cub before?

RE: WACO YMF
Hi mrdhud ..your video was great and The Waco flew very nice. The rudder settings I use are as much travel as I can get then I just leave it there.I also mix in a little with the ailerons ,about 20 %, that is optional.Unless you are worried about over steering with the rudder I dont see why you should have to rate it.Just my opinion.I know everone has one..................

RE: WACO YMF
welcome to the brotherhood skypup50.I read your article and it pretty much nails it.Although I cant relate to the older radio control systems my first model I built was a small control line covered with silkspan and dope.I was so pleaes with how it looked and couldnt wait to fire that little cox engine up.Unfortunately it started and I attempted to fly!Well, you know the end result.I didnt know anyone in the hobby so I gave it up as a bad idea.I was around 20 years old and then life got in the way. After a lot of years I saw how much had improved and my interest was re-kindled and I got into rc .No looking back now.I love to build scale models now and my workshop is definitely my sanctuary.I have made a lot of friends who also enjoy building and a couple of good ones too!!

RE: WACO YMF
Hey Guys...for my money the g26 is the engine for this airplane.Reliability, starts every time and runs the same every time. You can fly at half throttle all day and plenty left over.Thats my 2 cents worth on the subject.

RE: WACO YMF
Being ignorant when it comes to airplane designing I assumed that the designer would have put the thrust line where he did for some reason.Although your comments are well noted my question remains unanswered.Maybe I should have asked what would happen with a radical change in thrust line positioning. No offence intended I just have a curious mind.

RE: WACO YMF
Gents .I have a question on aerodynamics that I need to answer. If an engine is mounted lower than the thrust line on an airframe how will it change the way it flies?

Great advice ,those are great floats! I built a set from plans for my 8 foot DHC-2 and they work and look fantastic.By the way I do love my 5th scale Waco and I have been flying her on a regular basis.I am getting braver and trying some barrel rolls and split s maneuvers. What a treat to fly this bird !!

RE: SIG Ryan STA special kit by Maxy Hester
Hello JW.I guess all the closets have been searched for a new project. It seems I got the bug to build my STA a few weeks ago .I bought the Sig kit about six or so years ago and kept it on the shelf ,it seemed a bit intimidating at the time but after building a few other planes and a scratch built Waco I think I can do it justice now.I have used the plywood forms to build the laminated tail feather and wing parts before and that system works great.I also thought about using Flight Metal as well for the sheeting on the fuse .I have never used this product before but I know others have.I was also considering using the original plastic parts supplied in the kit as molds to make fiberglass ones.Any thoughts on this idea ?I like the work you have done so far and I will be watching your progress with great interest! RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser!
Gentlemen,a 1/4 scale J3 Cub only needs a stiff breeze to lift it off the ground .At half throttle the Saito 120 flies the model scale at only half throttle !!! Plenty of power.....I was only questioning whether or not I could fit the 20 into the airplane without butchering my engine cowl, and if I could get this site to upload a picture I would post one.Thank you for all your help.
