RE: Stripped Out Carb Insulator Block?
Walbro SDC-80 BUT, that may not be your problem. These two strokes are simple, your problem is going to have a simple fix. I'd check two things, first put the pulse line off and put it in a glass of water, then flip the engine over, do you get bubbles? I'd also check the reed valves they may not be sealing, When you flip the engine do you get a pulse of air out the carb? You shouldn't.

RE: help with non-planing shapes
ORIGINAL: da Rock The arrow speed is not much at all during the time the planing is supposed to be happening. Also, the planing is supposedly done by the time the arrow is up to speed.
The arrow is at maximum speed as it leaves the bowstring, gregow said planing happens in flight, not on the bow. From slow motion pictures I've seen of arrows in flight the shaft oscillates about 3", probably at about 50Hz. gregow What you drew is close to what I tried to describe, the rotating of the blades should help stop the planing also.

RE: help with non-planing shapes
ORIGINAL: da Rock The planform shape of each blade really isn't going to matter much at the terribly low Reynolds numbers they're seeing. There really aren't much ''aerodynamics'' in play there.
I think there's more than you imagine. 3D foamies are like a fly swimming in molasses, the Reynolds numbers are low, but the speeds are high so there's a lot of force being applied, I agree that area is important.

RE: help with non-planing shapes
I think you want a shape that will be stalled quickly and not provide any lift to cause your planing. Your broad-head is the equivalent of a delta wing, the worst shape for you application. The Delta doesn't stall, and makes it's lift by vortex generated lift. It would seam to me that a highly swept thin wing would stall very quickly. If I were to try to make this non-planing head it would be swept back 60*, maybe 1/4" chord on the "wing", and I would airfoil it with a diamond shaped airfoil.

RE: Time to make the switch!!
ORIGINAL: sunnybreeze Plus what the heck is MIXING?? could someone explain that!
Steve Mixing can be cool, you can program you radio to add a little rudder in when you give aileron, or you can "dial out roll induced from rudder." Computer radios are great, but you have to become one with them. I first bought Airtronics Vision because it was/is the best sailplane radio, this was in the late 80's I then bought a Hitec Eclipse radio, I had to wait for them to write the owners manual, I think I had #77. Then I bought a Futaba 7c, because I read how good the 9c was. Turns out buying the 7c because the 9c's great reviews was like buying a Chevy because you read a great review on a Cadillac. So I bought a 9c. They don't sell 9c any more, but they have a 10 something 2.4 GHz, that's what I'd buy if I was starting RC now. I understand that being a UC flier converted to RC you might say will I get my money's worth out of it? A lifetime warranty doesn't have the same meaning at 65 as it does at 30, but the Futaba 10 GHz radio will last forever, you won't outgrow it and you'll learn to use it's features over time. Learn to forgive the RCer's when they say the built an ARF, for they know not what they say.

RE: EPOXY, A STICKY QUESTION
I once read that the 5 minute epoxy was more brittle than the 30 minute. I thought about that and it seams as if the mix has longer to form long chains that would make it less brittle.

RE: turnigy ftl 26 n00b help
ORIGINAL: pepito9 I suppose i have to break it in before doing all the adjustments you mention to the high and low needles right?
No, I think you'll find if you do like I wrote at the end of the tuning it will idle well.
What RPM should i aim for breaking in for how long?
It's best to fly them to break them in, but if you must I'd run it at about 3000 rpm with the cowl off for 30 minutes, then go through 4 cycles of running at full power, then turning it off and letting it cool for 10 minutes, that helps stabilize the metal. PS When tuning it block the prop blast from blowing across the carb, it affects the tuning.

RE: Need ideas to fabricate a CF landing gear
Ed's correct, I'm not a fan of CF LG either, but if you must, this is how I would do it. Make a ply arch in the shape you want, width across the fuse, height, and tread width. but make it about 4" for and aft. Put wooden dowels in where the axles go, then wax everything and buff, do that 3~4 times. Paint it with epoxy, then lay in one layer of CF cloth. Now take CF tow and go from the center to the axle dowel, around the dowel back up and over to the other axle. Do that as many times as it takes to build up the LG to the thickness you think you meed. I would be spreading the tow out over 2" at the top, but going right close around the axle, maybe ever third time going around the axle with the tow. The tow would be one continuous tow, after every couple times back and forth with the tow I would put some epoxy on. To finish I would lay one layer of CF cloth over the whole thing, then slide a washer over the dowel to give that a flat surface, I might even want it to stay there for wear prevention. Now I'd put the whole thing in a vacuum bag for a day. I think you would have a nice landing gear. If you did the above with glass it would be a little heavier, but it would be springier.

RE: Scoundrel too!
I would have like to do a sunburst, but the straight lines go better on a squarish plane. I thing scallops on thirty's airplanes where the Hummers with 23" spinners wheels of today.[:'(] I wanted some curvier lines, but not the crazy Chinese swoopy curves you see on some ARF's. It took forever to mask what I did today, and I used low tack tape, some came up so I got over spray, but that will come off with a quick rub of compound. The thing I don't know how to treat is where the dope did not cut off cleanly when I pulled the tape off. Where the edge of the color is I shot on a clear coat then the color coats, the tape that forms the edge is a plastic 3M 1/8" wide tape, with the low tack holding the paper on. I removed the low tack tape with the paper normally, but when I pulled the 1/8" plastic tape off the dope slid off the tape rather than being cut, so I now have this edge that seems to have curled up making a really thick edge. I'm not sure how to remove it, I'll try to include a picture of the edge. The relative humidity was 70% today so the paint blushed a lot, but that will come out of the dope on a low humidity day when I do a clear coat. Tomorrow I'll do the cabin windows, make some decals, and do the clean up on the paint.

I'd go with the 6oz from you selection, but I would also get some lighter stuff too. I'm not a fan of mixing CF in with glass, it just means the CF carries all the load until it fails the the glass fails.

RE: Scoundrel too!
The airplane is done except for trim colors, I could fly it tomorrow. The extra paint I put on the fuse and tail feathers has moved the CG back to right on the spar, which is perfect for me. I installed the rudder and elevator today and spray painted it about six times. Next time no brush unless it just going to be clear dope. I hope to trim it tomorrow, I'm not sure how long you have to wait to put trim tape on it. It's either going to have a red sunburst or scallops.
