I will give the diff props a shot. I forgot to mention that I also am running the fullers drive setup. What a big diff with that drive! Big $$ but worth it

RE: blackjack melting wire connections
I was using 30c thunder power 2s packs each time, as for solder I used electronics grade. I am tempted to try to braise with silver solder/ mapp gas. I don't run at wot alot just bursts. The boat likes to get squirrely at wot and some chop, so I watch it at high speed. Might try a smaller prop since I will not be keeping it floored

blackjack melting wire connections
need some help. running a stock blackjack on 5400mah 7.4v thunder lipo packs and a octura x-642 prop de tongued and balanced. I get about 5 min of use before the positive lead heading to the esc de-solderes itself. Any ideas here? It has done this 2 times now. I am curious about the prop needing too much power to turn but it seems this is the prop to use based on feedback on this site. I solder a new traxxis connector on every time this happens and same deal.

I like the CA Funky 40. It comes in at about 4.5lb ready to fly. Great plane to fly. It's available at Aeroworks

RE: Extreme Flight RC Edge questions?
The plane flies great Just keep it as light as possible and have fun. What engine are you going to use? I fly with a saito 72 and it has plenty of power for everything

RE: Modifying Alpha Trainer
another cool trick is to remove the rudder and elevator (movable sections) and relpace them with larger surfaces. The same also works with the ailerons, but you have to setup one servo for each aileron in the wing. I have seen this setup on a few in the area and they fly great and flatspin so nice the actually gain altitude. Way cool!!

RE: 3D Help Needed!!!
As with any plane you start flying with the reccomended CG. As you get comfortable with the plane you move the CG aft till you get the slow flight characteristics you like. Once you are comfortable flying the plane you can up your throws. (I set up my planes for 3d flight when putting the plane together and dialing down the throws via the radio) You want 40-60 degree throws on your surfaces and anywhere from 50-75% expo on the sticks. Each plane is different but those are the basics. To get the 45° throws with the best mechanical advantage use the biggest servo arm and control horn you need to get the job done. Don't use a standard servo arm and connect your pushrod to the lowest hole on the control horn. It may work fine on a .40 size plane but will cause lots of problems in bigger planes (flutter, stripped servo gears). You may want to start your 3d stuff way up high but that can hurt you in the long run. Start your 3ding at 50-60' high so you can see the plane and react to the plane fast enough. Too high and you will miss the small "signals" the plane gives you to correct the manuver you are trying to do. hope this helps, tim

RE: Best 120 size plane for serious 3d?
I started out in the middle of the reccomended cg and ended up with about 1 1/2 ounces at the tail. I never measured it out once I got the CG aft. You mentioned that yours tip stalls. I would take a good look at your wings and see if one is twisted or something. There are 3 of these flying at my field and not one tip stalls at all. They all stall straight ahead. You might also want to check your lateral balance. I can't say much about your OS and your lack of power because we are all running Saito's but you should be able to hover/ TR with the OS no problem. One thing I can say is the Ultimate flies pretty good even if you go way tail heavy. You just need to keep the speed up on landing. You might want to do a search on the DP Ultimate and see what prop guys are running with the OS 160 also.

RE: Best 120 size plane for serious 3d?
I fly mine with the Saito 180 and a mejzlik 18x8 prop. I burn wildcat 20/20 4 stroke fuel and it has unlimited vertical. the plane weighs just under 13lbs fully loaded.

RE: Is the Moki 1.8 a Nitro Guzzler ??
from my experience with the moki 180 you should get about 10 minutes on a 20 oz tank. But be sure to run 0% nitro for a few gallons. Running 10% out of the box will give you lots of dead stick landings. The motor needs to be broken in before you add nitro.

RE: Hanger 9 Edge 540??
I have over 70 flights on mine with the single 8611 servo in the tail and no troubble to speak of. If you are tail heavy and need the weight up front go for the pull pull setup. Otherwise it is a waste of time cuz you will replace the servo weight with lead.

RE: DA 50 MUFFS AND STANDOFFS
Cheif aircraft sells custom standoff mounts. I have one and it looks great [link=http://www.chiefaircraft.com/cgi-bin/rcm/hazel.cgi?action=serve&item=/Models/Model.html]cheif aircraft[/link] the stock muffler is a good choice but if you have the extra $$ opt for the mtw or ks 75cc cans. They provide more power and are way quieter. Your second point tells me you are new to a gas motor. That center hole is threaded for the bolt that holds the spinner. Do not try to put a "contraption that will fix that problem" in that hole. The back plate issue is simple. From the engine forward you have the output shaft, then the spinner backplate, next install the prop followed by the drive washer. Once the bolts are tight you can mount the spinner with the bolt that comes with it into the center of the shaft. I hope this helps and if you still have questions I would head out to the field or hit a local hobby shop for a hands on answer.

RE: Hangar 9 - Extra 260 - Stock Landing Gear Delamination
I tried that. I got 3 more flights on the gear before it delaminated again. I went to the H9 aluminum gear for the 1/3 cap for now. It's heavier but it has held up alot better than the crap edge gear. I plan on ordering the Graphtech gear in the near future.

RE: Hangar 9 - Extra 260 - Stock Landing Gear Delamination
That works fine on 40-60 size planes but drilling the gear on 17-25lb planes doesn't work out all that well.

RE: Hangar 9 - Extra 260 - Stock Landing Gear Delamination
I have the H9 33% edge and the gear has delaminated bad on that one. I have called Horizon and they told me that it was my problem. I have never seen Cf gear delaminate like this. I have about 20 flights on it.

RE: WILD STIK 1.20 anyone get it yet
I bought one for our club raffle. It looks great! All the surfaces are HUGE and if it comes in at the 9-10 lb it is advertised it will be a rocket. The only change I would make is to get some CF landing gear. The stock Aluminum gear is huge and weighs quite a bit. If I win it, I will get together asap with JR ds-811's and a Saito 180. I have the servos and engine just waiting for a plane
