RE: MambaMoster TekinRX8 XErun EZrun
The toro motors are the same motor as the turnigy trackstar motors, I ran a 2560kv in my savage flux, it was mental with 4s, Backflips were no bother to this motor, and anything past half throttle when rolling along was uncontrollable it would just land the truck on its roof, The build quality was very good also, I removed it in place of a castle 2200kv to tame things down running 4s.

Those cups in the picture are stock hpi Baja cups with a hardened steel band slid over them, My xs cups don't even look used yet and being the ss it's has cvd's at the wheels, If the cups are breaking on the xs, an after market company would make some easy money providing cups with the steel bands in place.

Purchased the motor mount and flywheel from a cen Gsr, This will allow you to fit regular size 1/8 scale engines in the genesis.

RE: Need help converting my original LST to electric
Just after converting my lst to electric, I fitted a 2250kv brushless motor on a custom mount made from 3mm alloy angle section, Along with a toro 80a , Removed the first gear spurgear, Running second gear spur which has had its hub drilled and screw through the clutch shoes, This does the exact same job as the single speed hub conversion, I also removed all the low speed and forward/reverse gears from the transmission, Leaving just 4 cogs total in the gear case, This Does the same thing as the single speed conversion, Running a hpi savage flux 25t pinion which is the same gearing the losi conversion kit comes with, I purchased the losi lst brushless battery tray and using turnigy battery straps, my hpi battery straps are too wide to fit through the losi battery tray slots, Installed thunder tiger s50 wheels and tires with 20mm wheel hexes, as the stock 14mm losi hex and rims will not withstand brushless power and will strip out real quick, Also bought a new raminator body to complete my project, just waiting on two 17kg steering servos to arrive to complete my project, Il post some pics later if your interested.

I have both turnigy and zippy hardcase 5200 2s packs, The turnigys feel to be the more punchy battery out of the two brands, But both are excellent value batteries, Can't go wrong with either.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
I cannot get near the same tightness with a glow plug wrench or a socked as I can with the hpi multi tool, As when I tighten with any thing else it tries to rise up off of the nut, I have never used Threadlock on my wheel nuts before, have stripped a couple rims but the wheel nuts remain tight, No more stripped rims since doing the pin mod.

What are you using to tighten your wheels? I have done the pin mod and use a hpi Baja 5t multi tool to tighten my wheels nuts, The hpi Baja tool has the correct size ring hex at the narrow end and allows for excellent tightening. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HPI-Z957-Multi-Tool-/221068809892?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3378ba56a4

Yea the 80a esc will fit in the space, but is as tall as the roll bar/carry handle leaving it very exposed if you do any bashing.

That's a real strong bodyshell I was planning to use a twin motor valeting vaccum cleaner for suction? Also can you tell me how much droop approx you had in your polycarbonate sheet before removing from the heat source? For heat I'm using 2 x electric ovens side by side with with electric grill elements to heat the polycarbonate, You got any pics of your vaccum and heat elements?

RE: sad day for my garage
I think every one in the hobby down sizes their garage at least once, If I had kept every rc I ever owned I'd have no where to keep them, The last time I thinned out my garage was just before Christmas, where I was down to just one modded savage xl with a picco engine, I had just sold my 5t which one time I said I'd never sell, 2 x kyosho madforces, Ofna lx2, Since Christmas I have left running nitro vehicles, And have spent quite a bit on brushless trucks, My garage now consists of 1/6 rovan 4wd fg monster clone, Hopped up hpi savage flux hp, Losi lst raminator with 2250kv brushless conversion, Hpi savage flux xs ss with castle 3800kv, Nitro savage xl currently running a kershaw motor mount and 2365kv motor, I guess that before this time next year my rc garage line up will look completely different, I have regretted selling up some of my collection over the years, but i usually only need a couple trucks at any time to take the edge of my rc addiction,

RE: Savage Flux not going
Wouldn't use any thing less than red loctite on the pinion screw, Mine even came loose once with red loctite applied, Put a small amount of loctite onto the shaft before sliding on the pinion stopped it from coming loose since, For removal, unwind the grub screw, grab the motor shaft with pointy pliers and vice grips on the pinion and twist back and forth, Comes off just fine,

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Was running a toro 3900kv on 2s in my flux xs ss, I was pleased with the performance but the motor got hot and would start to cut power back due to heat issues, If I let it cool even for 1 minute it would come onto full power again, after a few packs runtime this became annoying, Ive just bought a castle 3800kv motor but want to know if this is a down grade in speed and power to what I'm used to with the 3900kv toro motor, I went with a lower kv rating than the stock xs flux rtr 4000kv with the toro 3900kv as I read about overheating issues on the stock rtr xs, Is 3800kv castle motor too much of a step down in kv to have good torque and have some speed?

Yes the k5.9 should fit onto the stock engine mounts, But if I were you I'd look at an lrp30, they are easy tuned and produce much more power than the k5.9

The tower pro servos are crap, I've went through more than 6, Some even burn up first time there used, If its a budget powerful servo you need, give the power HD 1501 mg 17kg servo a try, Running two of these servos and they are great, alloy bodied and metal geared, For the money they won't be beat.

Why are you not running the stock flux hp 44t steel spur gear? This will give you a lot more top end, that motor should have no bother pulling stock flux gearing! 20/44

Take my flux xs out for a good burst, As the maiden run last weekend ended as a result a spur/ pinion misalignment less than 5 mins in, Fitted a kershaw mount to my savage xl project, waiting now for my 2364kv motor to arrive this week, Making up mounts to run my lipos between the xl chassis, right below the motor, Installed the battery tray on my almost completed losi lst brushless conversion with 2250kv 3674 motor fitted on custom mount,

I run the lipos Bkoz559 linked in my flux hp, I also run zippy 5200 35c batteries, the turnigy batteries produce way more power and punch than the zippy packs, Turnigy hardcase packs are fantastics packs for the money.

Even for free the hpi pipe is crap, Put an ofna 053 pipe on you're lrp30, the 053 pipe works excellent with these motors.

You can buy these trucks from the alibaba website for under 150usd, Im pretty sure axial diffs will fit as replacements, being that it's all metal construction and a crawler Id say the truck would last a long time before breakages happen.

RE: King motor 29cc loss compression after tuning.
I had a needle bearing let go on my km 28.5cc engine, It left worse drag marks down the side of the piston and liner than that of what is on yours, I cleaned the engine out and reassembled it using a new bearing it would not start and compression was way down, So I pulled it apart, replaced the piston ring as they are real cheap, i thought i would try to work with what i had and it was back to running great, even pulling wheelies You need to take a look and see what made the marks on your piston, clean out the motor with petrol and replace the bearing if that done the damage, You may well need to replace the whole motor, but I would definitely try a new piston ring on what you have first, Some pics on this post http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=9001819

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Took my xs ss out on its first run today, I am running a leopard 60a v2 esc along with a toro 3900kv motor, Turnigy 40c 5200 2s lipo, On loose gravel the tires worked well but on damp grass it was wheel spin, drifting all the way, After 10 mins I could hear my esc start up tones and the truck became unresponsive, Then drove fine again, this happened a couple more times until there was total loss of drive, Got home striped the gearbox out and opened the gear mesh cover, the pinion gear had slid tight against the motor and away from the drive gear, readjusted this time putting red loctite on the motor shaft as well as on the grub screw, But with the run time I had I'm impressed with this little truck, god it's fast, and it does handle good for a monster truck, Can't imagine that il ever need to go 3s on it.
