RE: Club Laser?
Ok just took one of the cylinders off my laser 150 v twin. It's in a really bad state. Lots of castor everywhere never seen an engine so bad. I managed to get the most of it apart. The head is sitting in some old fuel to dissolve the castor that I could'nt scrape off. Going to try and get the valves out enough to clean them and the port it was almost closed up with the castor. I really waanted to take the piston off the conrod but it is either glued on with the castor or it is a compresion fit onto the wrist pin. Does anyone know if I need to heat up the conrod to get the pin out ? Rings were also stuck onto the piston got 1 off but I broke the other trying to get it off the piston. Very cool piston with the middle machined out. Got to say though doesn't look like it has alot of wear for a 27 year old engine. Had alot of use though. I think a new set of rings and bearings it'll be good to go for another 27 years. Cams look good and conrods feel good too.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Trying to find a good set of shocks aswell. Looking at the Losi 22T shocks but there a bit pricey servo's I just got a pair of Savox 1251TG servos 9kg on 6V .09 seconds through 60 deg nice servo for the money. Low profile too. I think JR make the best servos but way too pricey.

Man yor lucky that your wing did'nt just fold up. Not alot of material there for the spar. Good that you got your fuse back though. I'd just cut the ribs out and build my own wing if that happened to me. Real shame they did'nt build this plane right at the factory I'd have one if they did.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I just bit the bullet and bought an electric system for my nitro to electric conversion. I could not turn it down at the price I got it for. It's a Tekin RS PRO ESC with a Tekin Redline 4.5T motor. I might have over done it for power but if it does'nt work well then I was gonna get a Hyper TT to put it in. No idea how I'm gonna get it all together but there's a will so I'll find a way.

RE: Club Laser?
I just came across this thread I've got the 200v the very old 150v and the old 90 the later one with all the improvements new in its box with manual. The 150 needs a good strip down and clean out been run on castor all its life inverted in a cub. It's all choked up a real mess the 200 I got 1 hours run time on it. I've never got round to using them but want to fire them up one day without the mufflers on them.

and you will loose alot of steering at speed. Maybe a good idea to put some diff oil in the diff too... on these cars the plastic spur lasted about 6 months on mine maxed out on speed with a 21 tooth clutchbell 23

RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
Never had an FSR heard they were great engines. Had the 25 sf and loved it but it had that classic OS sort of way that you could really hear the carb sucking and it was a little grizzly off tickover when applying throttle. Nice though. Had the chance of an FSR I should have took it heard they were the best from alot of people.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Don't buy the Integy ones I got them not a good shock absorber. Too much resistance on the rubber seals for me and the shaft wobbles too much. Springs are abit tight and you don't get the right parts to fit them on the firestorm I had to try and bodge them up. Standard ones are better. Of it is leaking check the shaft is straight you might have a bent shaft. If not it will just be the o rings worn out unscrew the bottom of the shock body to get them out.

RE: 1/8th scale B-1B
I don't see what the problem is here man No point in putting an R/C plane in a museum if it did'nt fly or could'nt fly. It's just a bunch of glass then that has'nt done anything. I've always said it aint no plane till it's been in the air and landed. And anyway Bobs B1 project aint dead it's still a live project just cause some glass got put in the bucket don't mean the project is dead. You all talking like it's all over. If Bob thinks it's a bad airframe and doesn't wanna put it in the air he's probably made a tough and wise decision to kill it there and then. I donated a small amount of money not that, that means anything but I would have done the same thing Bob. I would'nt let someone have the opertunity to copy your work or let it sit in some museum and never fly. Lockhead Martin, Boeing and Cessna all have done the same it's just called development. Part of the project. I gained more than my donation back in the knowledge that Bob has given out alone. Go for it Bob build the new one lighter, stronger more rigid and more efficient. BAAAAAAMMMMM!!!!!!!!

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
I would look at setting the fail safe. It should come on and put the brake on so the car does not move. A battery pack would be ideal not sure what fits in there I'm still putting mine together but the higher the MAH the better it will last. Above 2300 mha will last all day no problem with the servos you have in there you really don't need a better steering servo they are actually pretty good. I think they were suppossed to be Futaba 3003 servos. If you were to upgrade you may as well buy a really good fast metal gear one. I'm putting a water proof Hitec titanium gear one in mine but it does'nt really need it. Have it so I'll use it. The more powerfull your servo is the less time you will get out of your battery the ones with 12KG of torque really need a 6v 2300 mah battery the 4.8v batteries will be flat in minutes running servos like that. If you want a quality servo that is just a bit more powerfull and just better quality the 5KG JR servo's are good. You can test you fail safe by taking of the air filter with the engine not running then turn the RX and TX on then switch you TX off and see if the brake comes on there should be a manual if it came with the fail safe.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Maybe check the silicone tubes for slices or pin holes. Maybe check the bolts are tight on the head. And that the plug is in tight. after that I would check the Carb does not have anything blocking it like a piece of dirt in the jet. I think it will be a simple problem just got to find it maybe even check you glow start had mine go flat real quick a few times Prolux have one you can connect to a 12V car battery thats what I use so many times I had a glow just die on me. I though the weight of the shock oil was around 10w on front and 15w on back might be wrong though.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Put a coulple of drops of fuel in the cylinder or take the filter off put your finger over the carb open to full throttle pull the cord make sure the fuel goes in the engine then try again with starting it mine was the same fuel goes upto carb but hardly any went in the engine. so it would not start.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Just remembered that my Cen Genesis had like a paste inside it and the outer coil of the plug would get metal attached to it like when the engine is new and you first break it in. I took it apart and found a chunk of metal had came off where the wrist pin is on the bottom of the piston but I can't see a G3 engine doing this I would check for metal build up on your plug after run in this is what always happens change it for a new one and change to 20% the nitro aids in cooling the engine. But yeh nitro bob said it give a good look at the inside mabe even whash it out with some fuel.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Should look at a Hobao Pirate that's a cool truck and tuff. Those integy piggy back shocks I have had too tight a seal on the shaft and were really stiff I took out 2 plastic washers that sit between the rubber o rings and that freed them up they work great now low resistance and way smoother.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Be carefull on 16% nitro. I ran my Hyper 12 mini st on that and the temp went upto 265F. It sounded perfect had to make it really rich to bring it down to 225F. Ran 20% Byron had no problems 225F tuned it to sound ran very stable. Check your plugs OK. My Firestorm always ran a bit rich at the low end never tuned in great through the entire band. I would use 20% and 12%oil what was wrong with the inside of it I would check of a leak around the head.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
OK I quickly put this together I have still to put more screws in and have not yet decided what wheels to go with deep dish or dished wheels. The integy shocks don't fit right as the top eye hole and fitting they give have to big a hole and the bolt is loose inside but they are pretty good also the bottom eye hole fitting is tighter than I'd like but I think I will try and work through it. I don't like the orange springs I think I will remove the paint and paint them black anyway here's the video still got lots to do but it's starting to look like a car now. Got new bevel gears and output shafts new bearings everywhere. Oh and the Edit steering nuckels rub against the wheels had to take them off very dissapointed heard lots of people had the same problem will get a set of integy or J-tec ones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcB81XcVpCs

Here is the link lewis http://www.xtremercracing.com/Store_Detail.cfm?ID=223399&InfoID=2995&ShowLarge=True&SnipID=6245 If I were you guys I would send the arms back complaining as I used mine and ruined the axles it is crazy that they still sell them get integy ones. they are much better I ground mine down but they still kind of rubbed a bit and wore the axles down and the drive shafts. wont do the bearings much good either. I ended up just putting standard shocks back on my truck they worked great before.

Love that spoiler looks AWESOME!!!!. I like seeing cars that are in good condition clean and standard just looks great with a few tweaks like the spoiler. I'd love a set of HPI shocks but they are pricey over here in UK £60 front £60 Rear But i'm thinking about it. Not inpressed with the Integy ones I got way too stiff think the standard plastic ones feel better quality. HPI stuff maybe pricey but it is high quality.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Yeh me too I just got the drive shaft upgrade I don't know if they work without the dremmel work but really you should not have to do it. I've got the integy ones all round this time however the integy parts I have to say front ones will need some filing or sanding very tight. and there is quite a few burrs here and there but look nice. The bearings don't fit great either be wairy of that guys. The Edit parts however are excellent the bearings fall in and have no play. The carbon chassis and front shock tower not great one of the holes are not lined up right on the shock tower and the chassis hole for the Gearbox abit more play than the original. But it is good enough. around 35% lighter than the steel one.
