RE: ARF's ruined my hobby
Ive been building models since the mid 60,s, and have been into RC for the past 35 yrs. In the past couple of years ive accumulated a few ARF models. Without mentioning names, its my opinion that there are only a few companies out there that REALLY build a nice ARF. Ive always been a builder, and i enjoy modding an ARF to make it more scale,etc.. while completing a Cessna 421 ARF recently, I realized that when I think back of how much work I had to do to this ARf to make it more scale and structurally sound (lack of glue on joints, etc), there is really a fine line between modding an ARF and doing a full build ! I think ARF,s are a good thing for our hobby, but its just that doing this last ARF project made me remember how much I enjoy building! The next project will be a full build Jack Stafford Piper Comanche!

Hangar 9 P-47 .60 engine
for xmas, my wife got me the Hangar 9 P-47 .60 ARF. From all ive read everyone says its a sweet flyer. Over the past few months Ive aquired two engines from RCU buy and sell. One is a Saito .80 4 stroke, and the other is a Super Tigre .90 2 stroke(Italian made). Any ideas which one would be the best for this bird? Any input would be appreciated.

RE: E-flite 90-120 size electric retracts.
this is interesting because this is the second set ive purchased. Ive got the 15-20 size on a EDF 737 im building and the .60-.120 on my TF p-51 .60. Both were plug and play as advertised with my Futaba 2.4 6EX

Parkzone Micro j-3 question
Recently I purchased a PZ micro j-3 cub and Im having a blast with it. I seem to remember a few months back in one of the rc magazines(I cant remember which one) that had an article on how to add scale details to the PZ Cub to make it look more scale. At the time it didnt have any need for the article, but now i wish i could find it again. If anyone knows about that article I would really appreciate it. thanks

RE: Synapse elevon problem
yea, I swapped servos, cleaned the slate, reprogrammed everything, but no luck. So, I put he servos as per the instructions you found thru google. I also put the travels at 100% in Mix 1. So, as of now, ive perfect aileron movement,in the proper directions, with dual rate function also. But alas, Ive still got no elevator. Ive been searching all over too, but no answers. I really appreciate the effort youve gone to. Im usually one to cure my own r/c problems, but in 30 +yrs flying r/c this is my first 2.4 radio as well as first elevon type airplane.

RE: Synapse elevon problem
Well Buschbarber, I did everything you suggested in your long explanation (thank you by the way). I got the ailerons to work in the proper direction and even adjusted their travel so I have dual rates on ailerons. I got as far as setting things up in "Mix1" as you instructed and then set my aileron dual rates. Two problems persist.. I still have NO elevator . after swapping leads and resetting everything still no luck ,so i put everything in the configuration you outlined in your instructions. Oh yes when I activate the Flap switch, they go UP. I reversed them and then my ailerons reverted back to being Elevators! I put flaps back to normal, and now i have proper aileron function, but still no elevator function. any advice? Im truly at a loss!

RE: Synapse elevon problem
Well, ive swapped the servo leads as per the owners manual, left elevon to channel 2, rt elevon to channel 3. I reversed the elevator and now im getting the proper movement for up and down pitch. Iwas getting aileron movement, but it was opposite f what it should be. I reversed the ailerons thinking it would correct things, but when i reverse the ailerons, the elevators now become ailerons, and elevators become airlerons!! When i put ailerons back to "normal" proper elevator is restored(up is up down is down) only when , for example go right aileron, it goes down instead of up. You would thing reversing would cure this, as it does on an conventional airplane, but instead it swaps elevator and aileron controls! Im at loss.

Synapse elevon problem
This is my first 2.4 radio, and Im all confused trying to get my flight controls to work properly in the elevon mode on my Great planes Synapse EDF. Im using a Spectrum Dx6i with the AR6200 Rx. From the "Wingandtailmix" menu, I activated the Elevon mode and from here im confused. Right now when i move the stick side to side for ailerons, I get elevator, and when I move the stick for elevator, i get ailerons. Any help will REALLY be appreciated! thanks

Electrifly L-39 questions
Im finishing up an Electrifly L-39 I purchased at a swap meet last year, equipped with a Dons Rc wicked 4000motor. I have two questions: What is the proper location dimensionwise, of the fan/motor unit in the fuselage? The directions say line it up in the molded channel, but doesnt tell you how far back or forward it should be located at. Second, Does anyone know if the plane can be flown with the drop tanks installed with epoxy or CA? Would weight and or drag be a big factor here? Any help would be appreciated. Dennis Hlavacek

Blade CX3 problems Help!
Im really new to helis, having flown airplanes for years. I was hovering my CX3 Md520 in my living room and go too close to a palm plant leave, and tumbled to the floor. When I try to power up and lift off, it wants to pull or bank left(viewed from the rear of copter). Trim doesnt help and was wondering if something was messed up with my swash plate. Since the manual is sort of vague in this area, how do I adjust the swashplate? Do I disconnect at the rotor hub and adjust a turn at a time or down at the ball socket attached to the servo? Any help will be appreciated, as Im in very unfamiliar territory!

GWS P-38 props
Hey guys I wondering if anyone could help me. Ive installed contrarotating 3 blade props on my brushless GWS p-38. Im having a hard time finding a couple of 3 blade 2 inch spinners. Does anyone know who might sell these, if anyone at all? Ive tried EPYAYA.com and they have a 3 blade GWS spinner that is out of stock, but its too blunt, not scale like. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys, I have a foam Combat Models F-16 glow pusher kit that I bought when they first came out years ago for a intro price of $99 bucks! My question is, has anyone heard of anyone converting one of the planes to a EDF? It seems like it would be a good candidate and was wondering if it has been done yet.

TF Gold Edition 1/7 P-51 engine
Hi guys, Im building the Top Flite Gold P-51, and cant decide on my powerplant. Ive got a new K&B 61 in the box. Will this be an appropriate engine for the plane? What would be the minimum size 4 stroke I could use? Id kind of like to have the ability to swing a bigger prop with a 4 stroke but I dont want to spend an arm and a leg for an engine either. What would be a economical choice for a 4 stroke? Any advice would be appreciated.

Im going to ressurrect an old jemco p-51 .40 model I built years ago that I pulled out of my attic recently. The plane does not have flaps and was wondering if anyone had any info on the best installation. Should I use 2 separate servos for each flap or should I interconnect the flaps and use 1 servo?

RE: Guillow RC surprise
Ive got a Cruisemaster kit hat I converted ( with much work) into a Bellanca Super Viking, which is a distant cousin of the Cruisemaster. With monocote covering, the plane is very scale like. It won first place in 1/2A scale at the 1980 Chicago RCHTA show. After all these years in the attic, it still looks great. Thinking of converting to electric from TD .049.

Futaba Conquest radio
Im just getting back into R/C after about 12 yrs, and am quite interested in electric park flyers. I have two Futaba Conquest FM 4 ch radios dating back about 12yrs. The batteries in the Tx still hold a good charge. Can I still use these radios at most flying fields? Also, can i use an electric setup with ESC, etc. with these radios or should I just invest in two new radios? Any help will be appreciated, Im an old glow flyer, and this electric stuff is really cool, but all new to me.
