RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: Thiagooo I'm about to buy a savage xs, which parts should I buy to make reservation? Which break easier? So I will use 2s. thank you
one of my a arm did snap off when i lost control of my xs and went fullspeed to a curb (thats what happen if your receiver antenna get chewed up by the centre drive shaft and you dont replace it) but the part that breaks often is prob the shock rod ends. apart from that almost everything on the xs is pretty strong in the future you may want to upgrade to a stronger servo, better tires, tbone bumpers and maybe powerstroke shocks.

RE: First Brushless RTR
ORIGINAL: miniRCfan Ok I currently have a Savage XL and an older Ofna buggy. Both of these are nitro. I do not want to convert anything I am looking for a good RTR brushless 4x4 for bashing I am not a buggy fan for where i do most of my bashing and would rather lean towards a truggy. it has to be decent out of the box however I have no problem upgrading things as they break. I would rather to stay in the $500 range but will need a lipo charger and batteries for whatever I get so I know it will probably run more. Any Sugestions?
I say go for Traxxas' Stampede 4x4 VXL. Its durable, powerful with 2s/3s, lots of after market parts since it share parts with the slash. This would run over $500 tho witht he lipos and charger. Staying under $500 with lipo and charger, i recommend the Savage XS and since you had the XL you'll feel at home. You may want to consider the Helion Dominus 10SC RTR also as bigsquidrc gave it Bash Vehicle of the Year. lots of options out there, cant go wrong with any of them

Thanks,
XS servo is the SF 10W while it is waterproof its very weak: Torque: 36.10oz/in (4.5kg/cm) @ 6.0V Speed: 0.18 sec/60° @ 6.0V compare than to Traxxa's waterproof servo 2075: Torque: 125 oz-in Speed: 0.16 sec @ 60°

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: Elcee I've always wanted to own and build an RC truck, this little thing looks to be tons of fun! However I think I'm out of my depth; this would be my first RC truck so I'm a little bewildered with all the options regarding motors, ESCs and batteries. Would someone be willing to give me a list for each including a budget option, a recommended option and a borderline overkill option? I hope to be able to divine gear selections from this. However the real worry is the list of things I've read on various forums suggesting what "needs" to be replaced (apart from t9dragons). So far the list includes: - Wheels and Tyres (Badlands seem to be the most recommended replacement) - Turnbuckles (I'm not sure what these are, let alone why I should be replacing them) - Steering servo (Not included in SS kit, but most people say stock isn't up to the job. Am I right in thinking Traxxas does an upgraded plug andplay option?) - Gearing - Lots of slop to be shimmed in the diff, axles and shocks (Is this usual?) - Replacement shock ends (RPM mentioned .. is this a brand or model?) - Diff cup wear Is this truck a Bad Idea for a first timer?
if this will be your first truck then the RTR Savage XS is good enough then replace parts is it breaks. but since you want to build it from ground up then your list is good. you may want to consider Powerstrokes shocks, tbone bumpers and also XS sway bar kit

I did some heavy bashing during the weekend at a local park. no broken parts but got really dirty with mud and sand. really love how its waterproof, just use jet stream on my garden hose to wash the dirt away and air compressor to dry it up. just wondering if the Venom's V540 3300kv+80A Waterpoof ESC Combo will work on the xs.

RE: Back in the hobby need help choosing
not sure why no one has recommended the E-REVO Brushless Edition. The ERBE is essential a glorified Truggy-MT hybrid. There are alot of after market parts, easy to work on and can use 1/8 esc+motor. But it doesnt handle like truggy but way better handling than your avg MT.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: fastgreen350 Must still be having some issues, I just got mine a week ago and today was the first day I used it, and its starting to show some potential ESC problems. Its a great kit besides the esc though!!
Ive had my xs since release and still using the same esc; its been bashed hard, submerged under water and went through 6inch snow. Ran 30+ 2S lipos cycles on it and its still running fine. Just go with the XS RTR and replace parts as it fails apart from the servo. I cant speak for 3S Lipos though use 25C+ or else esc may fry.
ORIGINAL: dcb2821
ORIGINAL: t9dragon
ORIGINAL: iTz Nicholas72 I've done some reading up on the XS and I'm thinking about picking one up in the next few weeks or so to get back into RC after a few year break. I see that you need to immediately upgrade the servo and do something about the steering links. Neither of those are really a big deal since upgrades aren't expensive. I've also been told that I need to get CVDs and aluminium shocks. Are both of those really ''needed''?
There is nothing wrong with the stock shocks and dog bone axles. I have been running everything stock on both mine and my son's XS's and haven't had any issues until he cartwheeled his into a fence causing one of the steering links to pop off in the grass and we couldn't find it.
I agree, im running all stock and about 5 packs in and i just broke my first part today, a rear upright cracked while it was cartwheeling like an olympic gymnast. I do wanna replace the steering servo though with the Traxxas #2075.....
the front tbone bumper really helps mitigate the damage from doing cartwheels. Since installing it I havent had any issues with my xs apart from scratches on the tbones and thats on 2 metre cartwheels on pavement doing speed runs

RE: HPI Bullet ST Flux RTR
ORIGINAL: iTz Nicholas72 Leaning toward the XS because it's cheaper and even with some of the upgrades I "need" it will still be less than the Stampede 4x4 and possibly more durable. If only tower offered EasyPay for the Savage Flux 2350 then I would be set haha
+1 to XS. Just slap on 2s and you'll have a blast. its great out of the box just make sure you tape the turnbuckle with bright colours as it pops off easily or upgrade with the traxxas parts

RE: HPI Bullet ST Flux RTR
ORIGINAL: iTz Nicholas72 Kinda thinking about the Stampede 4x4 but it's quite expensive so possible the Savage XS or a Mini Revo Flux. Though both need up grades and the ESC/motor/servo are less than stellar...
savage xs is a good option. built like a mini tank out of the box and uses 1/10 scale electronics. its just takes longer to get to the pinion compared to other rc. pede 4x4 is a better option. easy to work on, tons of aftermarket parts, lightweight and can be converted in to truggy/buggy/rustler etc (see Jang's shapeshifter) no such thing as a Mini Revo Flux, i think you mean erevo vxl or merv. its decent but on lipos expect broken parts.
