RE: RC10B4.1 Vs Bandit VXL
n19htmare, It's good to know that I can run a 3s on the RC10. Are wheelies a problem? How fast do you think it is with 2s? What about 3s? Thanks for all the answers! -s

RE: RC10B4.1 Vs Bandit VXL
Thanks for the response! Do you think the Associated handles and drives better than the Bandit? -s

RC10B4.1 Vs Bandit VXL
Hey Guys, I'm a long time RC'r. One of my first kits was a sand scorcher in the 80's. I just got one of the reissue kits and have been playing with it. Needless to say, I've been bitten by the RC car bug again. I'm looking at buying another car because my wife and son like driving them too. I'm thinking about getting a Bandit VXL or one of the Brushless RC10B4.1s. I had a VXL about a year ago (sold it to get my Sand Scorcher) and had fun with it. It was kind of over powered though. Between wheelies and whatnot you could barely control it. Also, the top speed wasn't really accessible because it would just end up losing control. So let me know what you think: Another Bandit VXL or an RC10b4.1? -s

RE: Official Tamiya Sand Scorcher Re-Release thread
Hey Guys I just built my reissue Sand Scorcher and am having a ball. The only problem is that the torsion bar rear suspension is waayyy too stiff for this car. It causes the rear end to bounce around and flip the car sometimes for no reason. Anyone know of any rear suspension mods that will soften up the travel a bit? BTW, I saw the camber mod kit above but it retains the torsion bars and wouldn't really help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -s

Corona unstable??
Hey Chris, Not likely. Corona shafts are made of spring steel and none of them are completely straight. The Corona is not a precision machine but somehow is an excellent flyer. Do the following and you should get it flying stable: -Balance the main rotor -Track the main blades - very important -re set the trims on your radio After that it should be flying smooth. Corona's are great helis - keep us posted and check ezonemag.com for more advice. -Stephen

which costs more?logo vs hawk conversion
If you're talking about the logo 20, the Hawk is quite a bit cheaper to set up. -Stephen

e-heli what one's best for 1 one
k_ogre My advice would be to get an LMH Corona to learn on. These helis are very stable and can handle a good crash - often with no repairs or parts replacement necessary(you will get more stick time and save a ton on parts). Yesterday I crashed my Corona into the ground sideways with quited a bit of headspeed. It made a terrible sound when it hit - but I was able to just set it upright and keep flying. The only drawback to the Corona is that they are fixed pitch and cannot do 3D. I don't see this as a factor because I've been flying my Corona for about 10 months and am just now getting really good at normal forward flight stuff. I also have a Hawk 30 that I've converted to electric but I still enjoy the Corona more just because of the simplicity and low maintenance(again read more stick time). Go to the electric heli forum on www.ezone.com and do a search on Corona. I would purchase a Corona, fly it for a year and then sell it to another beginner (or keep it) and get a more 3D capable heli. I don't plan on selling mine becaue its still my favorite model I've ever built (and got in R/C in '83 with a Tamiya Sandscorcher!). BTW, I've also had an EP concept and an Eco 8 and a few nitro Schluters. I could never get past hovering with the Concept because of fear of crashing. I sold my Eco before I finished it to get a Corona and I don't regret it one bit. Just my .02 -Stephen

LMH's?
Hey Warlock, I really like the LMH's also. I've had both a 110 and currently fly a Corona. I'm interested in hearing about this cheap and simple collective pitch conversion you are talking about. -Stephen

FYI: LMH Corona Motor - Crashkit Info
Mike, Check out this website for some good brushless options - www.fxaeromodels.com. I recently purchased the $160 Mega/Phoenix combo and am very happy the results. Its about 1/2 the weight of the old set up and adds to both performance and flight time. -Stephen

Do you fly electric and what is it?
I've had an EP Concept Hughes 300 and an Eco 8. I'm flying a Corona now with a brushless setup and don't even play with the gassers anymore. The Corona is fun to play around the yard with and you don't have to worry if you crash it. I've now got over 250 flights on it and about 12 good crashes. In all the crashes I've only replaced the tailboom once because I got tired of looking at the dent. It's getting over 10 minutes of hover with an inexpensive mega 16/15/3. I've been building RC models(cars, gliders, planes, helis) for about 15 years and this is the best one I've ever had - simple, inexpensive and fun! -Stephen

FYI: LMH Corona Motor - Crashkit Info
Mike, If you're going to replace the fusion with another brushed motor you should go with the Kyosho Atomic Force. They have 5x5 brushess so they last a long time and have lots of power. People are getting about 7.5 to 9 minutes of hover on 7cell 2400mah packs(with the 4/4 grip setup). These are available at tower hobbies for $19.99. I've tried some other more and have lesser results than the AF. I just recently went brushless(mega motor with phoenix controller) and am very happy with the setup. If you want to do more research check out www.ezonemag.com - those guys are Corona nuts and have tried lots of different motors. -Stephen

LMH's?
Hey Guys, I figured I would throw in my .02 on the Corona. This is a great heli! I've got about 250 flights and about 12 hard crashes on it - mostly from stupid mishaps(aren't they all). In all of these crashes I replaced the tailboom($8) once because I could no longer stand looking at the dents. I've got two big Schluters(50 & 60) that I don't even touch anymore because it takes too much time to organize a trip to the field plus the butt clinch factor is very high with these expensive helis. I don't see getting rid of this heli no matter how advanced of a flyer I become. -Stephen

Lite Machines CP help
Man! That's the best looking CP setup I've seen yet! Have you tried to fly it inverted? What parts did you have to make for the upgrade? I would like to upgrade my Corona! -Stephen

Gasser Conversion...
Hey Guys, I have an interesting project and wanted to see if anyone else has tried it. I have an old Schluter Heli-Star 60 that I'm thinking about converting to gas using a weed eater engine. The weed eater engine is 18cc(~1.1CI). The Zenoah powered gassers that I've seen are about 1.2CI. New Zenoah engine - $229. New weed eater - $65 - so the math works out. If anyone has any experience they would like to share I would greatly appreciate it. -Stephen
