RE: BTE Venture 60
to all of you talking about nylon bolts for the landing gearthis planes lands so easy you really have to be asleep at the tx to land hard plus the two piece gear is hard on the bolts afriend did it but it likes to shear bolt to early it land better with the wings shortend have flown them both ways full wings will float right by you on landing-shortend wing by 1 bay was a great mod. highly recommended love mine as a every day flier-have pictures in my profile

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair tendencies.. troubleshooting!!!
FLYBOYXC The retract are Bad-the plane likes to nose over all the time except with a PERFECT landing and conditions I worked all summer with a good flier on his H9 corsair he finally put Lado Retracts in shimmed them to move the wheels forward and finally it landed good almost alway. we fly on grassnice field short grass very long . his had os 91fs in the air flies great very lite for warbird floats in -this was good and bad hard to settle in doesn't sink -slow it up enough to sink and it stalls add throttle and it is flying again . Hard to settle into nice even glide slope.

RE: Goldberg super Chipmunk build
Alex you don't have to go crazy-just epoxy some hard 1/2 triangle stock in corner from ply doubler to all the hardwood blockes-if it brakes after that you have bigger problems this a fun plane that doesn't look like an extra or yak ,etc everyone at my club alway like a different plane

RE: Goldberg super Chipmunk build
Alex The problem with landing gear is pulling the hard wood grooved blocks out of the rib with the doubler I reinforced the hard wood blockes with triangle stock to keep them atached to the ribs -a problem others have had is splitting the two small blockes that the peg part of the landing gear wire in the wing.Make this part as strong as possible. in short you need more glue surface for the hard wood gear blockes. My chipmunk has flown for a long time no problems with blockes have bent the wires many times, but no problems with blockes. Great fling plane mine has flaps just for fun not needed, people talk about engines ,mine has a os 46fx with a 12X4 prop it flies very scale, doesnot go straight up for ever but does evry thing I have asked. Have Fun With Great airplane.

RE: 4*40 came in today
Four star 40 great plane can have a lot fun changing the look -adding winp tips and rounding the corners of the tail make it more streamline -it can look like a totally different airplanei use a os 52 4 stroke with 11X8 prop had nice power and good vertical and best it sipps fuel [;)] 10min flight about 4-5 oz mine wgts 4.75 lbs. i added wing tips and ended with about 59in span-very thin ply on turtle deck for a smooth lookbalsa cowl to cover the engine mounted on a down angle-This a Fast building plane and very much fun to fly will do all maneuvers but 3DAbove all have fun with a great Build

RE: LT-25 Build Thread
The LT-25 is a great airplane flies very well for a trainerI made some mod s-i cut the dihedrel in half made the incidence about 1degreemounted the engine at a 45 degree angle down and only 3 degrees down thrust-all this made it fly smoother more sport like -used a 40 Irvine ball bearing engine25 eng not enough power.Flies inverted great.Doesn't climb when you add throttle like most trainers-good in the wind See picture in my gallery

RE: KADET LT-25 BUILD
I have build 2 of these they fly great-----off grass or snow---both have had .40 irvines----both less incidence on wing and less downthrust--- 2nd one has flaps and wheel pants----this one I closed in the front end and added wing struts and still only wgts 5.5 lbs see photo on my galley

RE: sig kadet lt 25?
I have one it is a great airplane---I put a irvine 40 in it it flies great---I lowered the engine to help move the carb toward the tank center--I cut the dihedral in half about 3 degrees--- made the wing bolt on --all finish it weighted 4.75 lbs---flies great inverted --rolls quit axual flys very slow and staright-----does everything a trainer sould do and more------a felow club members has one with a .25 in it---it is too slow he is going to put a 40 in-------40la is lighter this may be better------but had NO balance problem just moved battery to back of wing compatement. Great plane for that just easy relaxed day of fling

RE: Great Planes P-51 Flap Addition
I added flaps on mine ---people say a 40 size is too small for flaps but they work so good on landing very stable-- I spent a lot of time making it look more scale------moved the tail wheel forward to scale postion--- have an os 70 4 stroke--- plenty of power ,flies very scale looking great---It s covered with aluminum ultra kote with the top side painted od green w/panel line and weathering though to aluminum covering make a nice effect with little work checkboards painted on around the nose----looks great in that low high speed pass

RE: pitfire GP Spitfire
HELLO I HAD ONE OF THESE IT FLEW GREAT-----MINE NOSED OVER TOO--I DID JUST LIKE PLANS,THEY DON 'T MOVE THE WHEELS FORWARD ENOUGH--I ANGLED THE RETACTS FORWARD--SCIMMED THE REAR AND CUT THE FRONT RETART RAILS. THIS LEAVES THE WHEEL IN WHEEL WELL BUT ANGLED--BUT AS IT GOES DOWN THE WHEEL MOVES INFRONT OF THE WING.YOU NEED TO GET ALMOST ALL THE WHEEL FORWARD OF THE WING WHEN SITTING ON THE GROUND AND LOOKING DOWN FROM STRAIGHT ABOVE THE LEADING EDGE OF THE WING. I ENDED UP WITH 1/8IN SPACER ON REAR RAIL AND CUT INTO FRONT RAIL TO GET THIS ANGLE. YOU CAN SEE THE WHEEL IS TOO FAR BACK IN YOUR PICTURE. GOOD LUCK STEVE

RE: Great Planes .40 P51 kit build...
Hi 270 win This is a great kit ---you can build it just to fly or add retracts with robart struts and 2 3/4 in robart wheels----I added flaps on mine ---people say a 40 size is too small for flaps but they work so good on landing very stable-- I spent a lot of time making it look more scale------moved the tail wheel forward to scale postion--- have an os 70 4 stroke--- plenty of power ,flies very scale looking great---It s covered with aluminum ultra kote with the top side painted od green w/panel line and weathering though to aluminum covering make a nice effect with little work checkboards painted on around the nose----looks great in that low high speed pass----Lots of fun to build and fly ---the wing shape makes it very easy to fly-- a lot more forgiving than a more scale wing. Have a Great Time building and fling

RE: Who Makes The Best Kits?
just want to agree with the guys about SIG Kits---built a dozen and all were very good---the kadet 25 --is a great kit but it is a tail dragger---i built one and put a light weight 40 in it ---It weighs 4.75 lbs--- it all so is not that small it is 63 inch wingspan--and a long tail moment for staight flight-----the tail dragger works Great off a grass field---it flies very slow --or will fly quick with the light 40 -- maybe os40 la or something like that--- it is also quite strong in less than smooth landing Good Luck in what ever you pick
