RE: DeHavilland Mosquito
Magnus, as David mentioned, keep cool and don´t hurry, and I hope everything is okay with Your Mossi... Before i leave into vacation, I wanna install the retracts...but therefore I have to install the Fueltanks first .It´s an 8 oz Sullivan, and he´s 1,75 inch high. The carb needle of the Saito72 is only 1/2 an inch about the groundlevel of the tank, so I´m thinking about to install a 2oz sullivan as a headertank, 2 inch lower, just in front of the retracts. Maybe someone has experience with problems of the tank installation in this Mossi? Anybody knows the 3 Humbrol Numbers green , gray, light grey??? Regards Andy

RE: Top Flite P-47D Thunderbolt ARF .60-.91: Building & Mods
Manolo, yes, I pressed the rivets and panels with a lead pencil into the covering ( medium, not the hardest one ) .So the complete Jug is perforated and has hundrets of breaking points..:) A very nice metal finish faktor you will get while bouncing a silver marker over the covering... By the way, our favourite holiday destination over the last 5 years was Conil in the wonderful area of Andalusia, funny, maybe only 20 minutes from Your home... Kind regards Andy

RE: Top Flite P-47D Thunderbolt ARF .60-.91: Building & Mods
Callide, vibrations, heat and oil will kill the battery. But in this big Cowling I would place the battery in shrinking tube, 2or 3 inches distance to the engine and mounted on foam with good cable fixers. I did that succesfully on my DB Hurricane . I would check this and the complete acft after the first few flights. Good luck with Your maiden Andy

Magnus, sorry,I'm not allowed to talk about the manufactor in the moment, but will You inform later. I wrote that because that's the reason why I couldn'start my build, but I will Try to install the engines tomorrow. To all : is it a good idea to mount the engines inverted, but at 190 degrees to keep the glowplug dry? Any ideas for the site thrust? Thanks in advance. Andy

RE: DeHavilland Mosquito
Magnus, Great build until now... Invasion Stripes, very nice retracts, first class... I will start my PR Version next week.... Flying a twin is like flying a complex aircraft, I suggest ( I will do that for my own ) using a checklist ( my 5 cent ) Kind regards Andy

RE: DeHavilland Mosquito
David, very nice scalelike t/o and landing...( I think after searching so many hours, I know probably every ever posted Mossi-Video ) Magnus, You wrote: The nice things with a single tank are - The two engines will run dry at roughly the same time regardless of individual consumption - The tank can be mounted centrally and in the Mossy below the carbs even in inverted position!!! Lower Tank sounds good.... but ( after searching so many hours bla bla ) the Engines NEVER should go dry [;)] I will do the carb setup so as suggested by David, with onboard glow and 2 nice Saitos ( I have some bigger Saitos in use ) they will normally and hopefully never stop ! Kind Regards Andy

RE: DeHavilland Mosquito
David, thanks for Your reply and the time You spent giving the Newbies all the nice tips. Unfortunatly I can't watch the Youtube vid, because of some musirestrictions for germany.. By the way, I hate music in warbirdmovies, wanna hear the sound of the PW' s and Merlins...[:)] Magnus, I was also one klick before ordering the Dubro Wheels, but one is 147 gramms or 5 ounces, so that is very heavy and I think You'll get a nice trimchange.. RE: DeHavilland Mosquito
Dear David, thanks for the nice welcome. Your Idea with the leading edge is pretty good, but I wanna install a near scale leading edge, so it´s not so flat and I hope, it will have similar effect. But one little question : what is the size of Your Wheels? Regards Spitty

RE: DeHavilland Mosquito
Hello to all Mosquito Fans, at first, let me say thanks to all who have written their experience with the CMP Mosquito.[:)] It was so important ( CG ) and helpful, and after reading the whole thread I will start building my Mossi next week. She should be a " Trainer " before I go on with my 100 " Mick Reeves Mosquito. I Think it´s a good Idea to have ( hopefully ) flown a twinengine model before. And after reading TWINMANS tips: - never start with an warbird : but she´s so nice - never start with a taildragger : but the Mossi is one - never install engines inverted : but it looks much nicer. I hope everything will work fine and I don´t make a mistake.. I will try it , and that´s what makes our hobby so amazing.. My Setup : - Saito FA-72 B / inverted, with onboard glow - Will extend the nacalles , so no work on the firewall - with 2 Spinners from BT 71 " , the outline will be scale enough ( Magnus, nice that You have start a buildlog ) - Mechanical Retracts from http://www.einziehfahrwerk.de/index.htm , they have build one for the CMP Mossi , around 230 $ - Colors will be the PR Blue PR XVI Reconnaissance version - CG at 110 mm inside Fuselage - 2 wonderful RAF Pilots from Matt : http://www.scalepilotsusa.com/1_10_RAF_Pilot.html So I will post some pics in near Future and I wish all Mosquito Pilots many nice Flights and Happy Eastern Andy

RE: Black Horse Shrike Commander
Thanks Joe and Jaime, a DualAce would be an option... but the Commander is so beautiful.... Maybe I'll start with an 88 inch Mosquito or an KMP BF110 ARF... But I hope You will fix the Problems. On the other hand there is a nice Beach G58 Kit, maybe better Quality? www.scaleflying.com Regards Andy

RE: Black Horse Shrike Commander
At first le me say thanks for the infos about the weak Retracts, I checked this Thread seconds before buying one... This Beauty is available in Germany, around 470 $.... I´m sad about the Retracts.. so a nice looking Bird ! I´m looking for a Twin - Trainer before Building my Mick Reeves Mosquito. I flew many Years Full Scale Turbine Twins ( KingAir 200/ 300 and Cessna 406 ) so I think it would be a good Idea to DON´T start with a taildraggered Warbird ( Twinmans Tips ) . Also Thinking about flying the Mossi with E-Engines and a 2 Soundmodules... But I have 2 brandnew ENYA 155 for the Mossi, and flying with " Real Engines " sounds also very nice.. So`I´m a bit confused.... Just thinking about the Seagull Twin Comanche or , absolut cheap in Germany ( 230,- $ ) , a Hangar9 B-25 . Any Ideas for a nice looking Twintrainer? Good luck with Your Commanders Regards Andy Here is the review for the Aero Commander : http://www.modelairplanenews-digital.com/man/201204?pg=28#pg28
